I wanna say most of the movie/tv sites I've looked at used Disqus. Av Club only switched to Kinja in the last month or so as well.

    Still better than Kinja, though.

I haven't visited AV Club since they switched, other than specific show reviews. Before then I'd check their main page at least once a day to check things out

Birth.Movies.Death uses it too. But that's a site I can only visit if there is like a particularly good article. House that Devin Faraci built and all.

To be pedantic, the reason we don't see cholera anywhere near as much these days is because of the advancement of sewage and plumbing systems, not medicine.

    So I’m watching Spider-man Homecoming,
You know the scene where Peter answers a question in class after Flash gets it wrong?

The problem they are solving is finding the velocity of a swinging object at any point on its path

For instance a man swing around on some webs

    Makes sense.
And, IMO, Peter would ace that because he's done the math and because he's been the pendulum on the line. Knowledge and experience; he's got both.

    I loved that moment
Peter is zoned out, not paying attention,
and when called upon casually glances up at the board and solves the problem. In an upper level physics class. As a freshman.

It did so much "show, don't tell" of how smart he is

Comichron: Marvel up 14% year-over-year in September as Legacy #1 tops charts; overall market pares losses
According to Comichron's analysis, orders for Marvel comics and graphic novels were up 14% in dollar terms over last September. That's an increase of about $2 million at retail, representing the publisher's best year-over-year performance since June 2016. The chart-topping Marvel Legacy #1 has something do with it, of course, and while there's always some level of deep-discounting on graphic novels, Marvel's unit and dollar shares were pretty close to one another -- right around 38% -- so there can't be too much of it involved. Marvel's 88 new comic books in September was also the smallest number of periodical releases for the publisher in any month this year.

Marvel's improvement relative to its past performance continues the reversal noted here last month of the trend seen earlier in 2017, in which the publisher was entirely responsible for the industry's decline in dollar terms; as of September it was DC, up against last year's Rebirth numbers, which accounts for the lion's share of the loss. But there, too, DC's rate of decline in September was nearly half what it was in August, thanks to the continuation of its Dark Multiverse event and the fact that Rebirth was starting to come down off its heights this time last year.

That just means the beginning of Legacy was doing better than the end of Civil War 2. It looks like it's just trending the same as it was before, I guess.

Although it's worse than it was:
While the rate of decrease, as noted, did improve in September, the overall quarter was off 16%, the largest quarterly drop since 2003, when final orders began being reported by Diamond. There aren't too many events like Rebirth to be found in previous years.

Thanks for that, by the way. DIdn't see it at a cursory google.

How about a villain game in the vein of Orcs Must Die, but you're one of the many supervillains with a lair, and you're up against SHIELD mooks with one or super heroes near the end of the last wave?

I think the vulture is easily one of the top two marvel villains, the other being Loki. Loved his characterization and the space he fills in the mcu. Love the workaday villain motif and how he exploited the situation like a proficient contractor might. Just, really good. Whoever said it’s a comedy first and a superhero movie second was definitely right.

Thing is, even with the writing on that page, the images of people critiquing the reveal are so unnecessary

The art could have easily included imitations of comment sections/tweets/whatever, it's not like that's out of the ordinary for comics; it would have still been petulant and unfunny but at least not racist

And yet, they chose to use caricatures instead, with all but one or two of them being darker of skin colour than Not Cap here, portraying anyone that disagrees with Spencer as these horrific internet demons

That is an intentional choice, and one that's absolutely disgusting

    Dig up, Marvel

Okay so looking at that picture, I count six people I would say are white, and another 3 that might be. Given the cartoony style and various lighting/colour palettes of the panels it's hard to say for sure.

Which 6, out of curiosity? I could only read two mustache guys as possibly being white, the lower one of which I missed before as it's mostly covered by the corner of another panel, and the top one feels more hispanic to me. The others all read hard as african american or hispanic (to me)
