Giant Bomb came into existence in 2008 after Jeff Gerstmann was fired from Gamespot. A number of his coworkers left shortly afterwards, and a few months later Giant Bomb came into being.
It's known for its two main podcasts:
The Giant Bombcast
Run by the crew in San Francisco, it's been around since the site started.
The Giant Beastcast
The east coast crew's podcast. It started a while after Vinny moved to New York where he joined Alex to start a proper Giant Bomb studio.
There have been a few other podcasts, most of which fit under the "Giant Bomb Presents" label which includes one-off interviews and podcasts that don't really fit anywhere else.
They also have a lot of great video content on there. They have a paid premium membership in which members get access to special video features. There's a lot of free stuff too, including Quick Looks, in which they record a short-ish video of them playing a new or upcoming video game.
Here's the crew as it stands in September 2017:
West Coast:Jeff GerstmannBrad ShoemakerJason OestreicherBen PackJan OchoaMatt Rorie
(Rorie is more of a behind-the-scenes guy)
East Coast:Alex NavarroVinny CaravellaDan RyckertAbby Russell
And the honorary east coast member,
Jeff Bakalar
(Jeff frequents the Giant Beastcast, but works for CNET)
Former staff:Patrick Klepek
Patrick left Giant Bomb to join Kotaku, and later joined Austin at Waypoint.
Austin Walker
Austin left to become editor-in-chief of Waypoint, a Vice Media-based video games site.
Drew Scanlon
Drew left to start Cloth Map, a Patreon-supported venture.
And last but not least,
Ryan Davis (R.I.P.)
One of the founders of the site. He passed away in July 2013.
We miss you, Ryan.
This thread is for the discussion of Giant Bomb content and its staff. And occasionally about its former staff's activities because they're still cool people!

I was listening to this week's Beastcast for a bit tonight and was laughing at everyone trying to do an Alex impersonation.

I'm really liking it so far as its mostly just Jeff talking industry stuff and shooting the shit. From all the podcasts and everything I've heard I don't think that sort of thing (the industry part) is done better by anyone than Mr Gerstmann and Shane Bettenhausen.
Yeah, it's too bad they couldn't do one this week. Hopefully they can figure out how to get the Discord "call-ins" to work better, because every single person they get seems caught off guard when they actually get on the air. I suspect it's a delay thing; they're watching them live, but the stream is a little behind and suddenly Jeff or Ben are talking in their ear with "caller, you're on the air!"

It's just like actual radio call-ins.
Law and Order ≠ Justice
It's really good.

Adam Boyes and Feliz Kramer almost hung up on me during the Big Live Live Show. In a panic I closed my stream and don't think i realized Adam was there and that Lang had left to use the bathroom or whatever.
Luckily the question I asked was vague enough that Dave or Adam could answer it.

Every new obstacle in Chemical Plant Zone brought death or him having to redo some portion of the level.

There was one good moment in there when, about 35 minutes in, Brad goes "Maybe I should just turn invisible" and Jeff goes "You can turn INVISIBLE? What the fuck have we been doing?"

But I'm getting the feeling that the sort of Good Times (tm) they're having is entirely best-case scenario material
I thought Dan could not sink any lower than Dumpster Dan, I was wrong. Dan is Azazel.
Law and Order ≠ Justice
Having put over 170 hours into PUBG, it is definitely way better with friends, and we still have silly moments (car chases are such a weird blend of good-dumb and threatening), get terrified by having other players pop up in front of us from behind a wall or in a bush, and it is still a thrill to get those good chicken dinners.
The first-person servers are so good.
What happened? Alex had turned the ship around finally (with a lot of hand-holding from Vinny).
Other than that, he started building an alien containment facility, and the first terror mission popped up, which Abby will have to deal with next go round.
They've already way past failed. Too few soldiers, no satellite coverage, high panic levels, council report in like 3 days.
The fact that they've already 100% lost and don't realize it makes watching the show a bit uninteresting.
Law and Order ≠ Justice
Then start EC2 in War of the Chosen and put Dan as the Ghost/Commander and let Vinny play instead.
If you can get a buddy, or a group, going though, it's a hell of a lot of fun and the zany hijinks the GB folks get up to is pretty normal in the right group. It's when you get next-esports-super-star guy in your group that starts getting mad when people don't have professional CS:GO levels of aim that it starts to get real unfun, real fast.
Roaming gunfights in cars with another squad is not something one can experience in solo play.

Well if you're being chased, you can Ctrl+2-4 to swap seats and shoot as the car coasts along from momentum.
But yeah, not the same as trying to snipe the driver out from the backseat while a friend serpentines to avoid gunfire.

...huh. This is the first time I've actively disliked Dan.
Oh.
I just realized that Dan would probably sign up for a livestream of trying to run a Destiny 2 raid.
Oh no.
