This ain't just for Sea of Thieves (though it doesn't even remotely seem like my kind of game) but procedural generation seemed cool when it was new tech, whereas now it just feels lazy to me. In the vast majority of cases, I'd take a smaller but actually well crafted world over eleven billion planets/galaxies/islands/dungeons where they all look kind of the same except the canyon/star/palm tree/spooky statue is on the left hand side instead of the right hand side this time.
I might be wrong but from what i can tell it's not procedurally generated. The quests are spreadsheet fetch quests of the most basic order, but I think the actual landscape is static. Which would be fine if it was detailed and full of things to do, but each island is empty as shit
I think the world is handmade, but the quests might be a Radiant quest dealie, where it goes "RNG objective" + "RNG location" + "RNG destination"?
Anyway, I'm curious if there's more to the game than what we've seen, content-wise. I've been holding off buying it due to the early impressions and their comments on it sounding too much like NMS-style nebulous hints without commitment. Well, that and Windows Store only being blergh.
I can enjoy being buzzed, drunk, a bit stoned but I hate the feeling of just continuing down that road where you end up just getting completely wasted over the course of an evening. There's nothing worse than when you're just wanting to go to bed but you can't because you're wasted and oh god the room is spinning and I'm so tired.
Plus, I'm well into my 30s now so hangovers tend to last about a week for me, which is just unpleasant.
But then again, bourbon.

Anyone in the crew mentioned Ni no Kuni 2 yet?
I think I might want to get that but I would like to watch a quick look first if they're doing one.
Abby is playing it and talked a very little bit about it on the Beastcast last week. Not sure if they're going to end up doing a QL or not, I kinda doubt it though.
I got he Xbox Game Pass trial and played a couple of hours of Sea of Thieves with a buddy last night. Still not entirely sure on the game but we did at one point get a "Treasure Chest of Sorrow" with a face on it that kept crying and flooding our boat.
The quests definitely got more interesting as we leveled up. Right now it feels like the game may have a lot more odd/unique stuff as you level up but we will see.

This is correct as far as quest generation goes. TheKoolEagle and I did one of the Pirate Forts last night and that seemed pretty fun. Lots of different skeleton types, had to fend off a galleon that tried to come attack us, ended up getting like 8000 gold and I bought a fancy hook for my hand.

Ah I missed that, thanks.
I'll hold my thumbs and purse strings for a while and hope for a QL.

According to Vinny on Twitter, GBE is affected by the storms out there and so we won't be getting the regular streams. I was really hoping to see them finish Hard Corps.

It's a big game, there will of course be a Quick Look.
It's not some no English translation JRPG with 13 colons and hyphens in it's name; it's the sequel to a game that Brad was very into and fought like the devil to get into Best Character that year.
I am very interested in it, but I want to hear about the combat more. The first game was beautiful with great characters and VA, but the combat was a bad mashup of menu and action RPG combat that wore thin very quickly. Apparently this game has completely different combat though, so I'm hopeful it's a more fun game to play.

Huh? They don't do QLs of all games. Jeff is on record in just the past month or two saying that if nobody is interested/gets far enough into the game to have an opinion then they won't do a QL of it.
I'm not saying they won't do one for sure but in no way does GB cover every "big" title that hits the market.

Oh my gosh that game looks like it could be fantastic.
I also loved Oxenfree, and I also need to finish it. For all the games I've played over the years, I can safely say that it was the most effective, bar none, in scaring the absolute piss out of me.

Yeah, he did mention it as part of the shifting "tone" of the site, which kinda bums me out: How many classic QLs only exist because it was some random game they were forced to play on camera? Project Quick Look Everything?

I'm still unsure on what their QL criteria even are. Like, they've done plenty of QLs for long-ass games where they literally jump in 30 minutes after the very beginning, way before many of the mechanics are even introduced, so I don't think it's "we have to play enough of it to fully get it".
That said, based on Twitter I think Abby has played more Ni No Kuni 2 so maybe there will be a QL? I hope so anyway.
Jeff said on the podcast (I think) that the review embargo is up but the video restrictions prerelease were weird so they weren't doing anything prerelease at least. And the East crew was snowed out yesterday and possibly today.
Seeing a grown ass man go into a titty bar and ask for "the usual", only to be handed a tiny little YooHoo drink box, and then go into a diatribe about a cold blooded killer, had to have been staged this way intentionally for laughs.
I refuse to believe this shitty FMV game is playing it straight here.

I haven't watched the stream yet, but you're basically describing a Home Movies gag.

tbh i think this video is going to end up a problem for them, since it's only blocked out by the next 100 videos lol.
Edit: Oh wow, judging by her wikipedia page she has a much more successful career than I knew. I assumed the Battlefront role was her first big thing.
Edit edit: Oh, one of the leads as in a voice role. In videogames a lead always sounds like a lead dev to me.
