One shot the first boss in Cuphead, game feels great too! Responsive, easy control scheme, multiple unlockable weapons layout each with their own supers, and couch co-op. This has the potential to be an all time classic, I'm not kidding five minutes with this aesthetic and you can tell it pays it's weight in gold. The polish that went into the art and sound design is 100% perfect.
You mean you didn't get stuck behind a wall you couldn't jump over in the tutorial?
The Steam reviews are already filled with those trolls, but honestly I have no idea how that reviewer got his job. It's super easy to control, and the tutorial explains itself.

If you're a critic you have to be bad at what you're criticizing, that's why you became a critic
I think that person just didn't play platformers a bunch, and then the people he worked for accurately figured it'd be funny to watch his like first-ever lesson in platforming.
People who play games always ignore the like fucking 10 years they dropped into whatever genre they're pretty sure is super easy to figure out.
Yeah, the Dean Takahashi playing Cuphead poorly thing was something blown out of proportion by a certain corner of the gaming community that I wish didn't exist. He recorded some footage at an expo and recognized it as being terrible. His coworkers uploaded it to the site's youtube channel as a joke. A certain person tweeted it out as "evidence" that games journalists can't play video games or whatever, and thus Mr. Takahashi gets all sorts of fun harassment/abuse.
I mean, it wasn't even a review! He was just previewing the game.

Regarding Idlemaster, I'm not sure if this is strictly on the up and up, but I've noticed that these days you tend to get cards when you close a game regardless of how long you've played. So if I've played long enough to qualify to receive trading cards and I shut down the game I get a card. If I re-open the game and then immediately close it again, I get another card and so on.
When it comes to Idlemaster, if I start idling a game, tell it to switch to the next one after it has idled for 2 seconds, then the next, etc. I ended up racking up a lot of cards for a very little time played or idled. So you could fire up Idlemaster, blast through your entire library of games and get a card for most of them then start a run through again to very quickly "idle" your way to all the cards you have available.
Now, you could just start up and shut down each game in quick succession to get cards so it's not a flaw in Idlemaster, just a new algorithm that Steam is awarding cards that can be accelerated by not having to install the game and actually run it. Maybe an exploit?
Well weird Cuphead news. So I get to the title screen "press any key"
and with unsteady hands I press the X key on my generic joypad.
BOOM! It works! I'm at the main menu.
but then nothing works. So I had to use the keyboard to get to the controls screen. From there I was able to manually assign keys to the joypad. They still don't work in menus and on the world map. Very strange but it doesn't seem to make the game unplayable.

I was trying that, too, and it seems to work okay for me; I just hit 'next' a bunch of times and shortly afterwards a lot of new cards showed up. I'm not sure what's going on here, to be honest -- but potentially sometime in the next week or so I might have enough steambucks to get Cuphead, which would be nice. (got to finish some other games first, though)

Super odd. Report it on the Steam forums, I'm sure the devs could help you out. This is their first effort, so I'd expect some bugs here and there tbh.
So I guess original sin 2 is so good that a friend of mine who hadn't been on Steam in over a year has been on playing it, so messaged her saying how jealous I was. Once my brother's wedding is over and I have extra cash, the precious will be mine.

Eh generally I just get told to buy a 360 controller.
Which hey I get that most folks have them and have moved on.
I'm currently using an Xbox 360 wired controller with my Steam Link. I'm looking to do something wireless that doesn't require a copper bowl, a pointy piece of metal, and a gullible goat. I tried syncing my Wii U Pro Controller, and while the Steam Link identifies it as such, I'm unable to redo button configs to make them work like the 360's defaults.
Is a Steam Controller my best option for out of the box wireless for the Steam Link, or is there a better option?
I saved up and bought a Xbox One bluetooth controller. After I connected it and updated the drivers (you have to install the Xbox Accessories app), it paired and worked flawlessly with Steam Link.
Considering I got the Link during Summer Sale for $15, I did not mind paying more for the controller. Plus, I've been using the controller a bunch directly connected to the desktop, which I originally was not expecting.

We use an XBox One S controller with ours, and it's seamless. Depends which control style you prefer, I suppose.
ETA: Got excited for Cryptark, seem to remember people had issues with it here though?
EETA: Thread I've been so tired all week I turned on my machine for the first time today, and that was to complete our voter registration paperwork. Send caffeine, or a passing build pipeline.
Yeah if I had the money, I would buy a new Xbox one controller but I'll limited with the Steam controller. That's not too day is outright bad, it just takes a while to reprogram your brain after a lifetime of regular controller usage.

I personally really enjoyed Cryptark. It's not an easy game, and some might find it unfairly difficult. One of the things I did eventually was turn on low detail mode, because while the lighting effects make the game look pretty cool, it can be distracting.

PS4 controller is perfectly functional on Steam for the most part. Also my favorite controller specifically because I don't need to reprogram my brain.

Overall an intersting concept since it's basically a stealth escort mission. You as the much more mobile Shadwen has to guide Lily, the young beggar girl to the various doors to help you reach the end of the game. Whether by killing key guards, or all of them, or just distracting them with noises and moving objects (attributed to "evil spirits") you'll help guide Lily from various hiding spots to reach the end. She can never be spotted and her AI tends to do a good job moving her when the coast is clear but it can be frusterating when she stops a few feet from a hiding spot because a guard turned and looked a little too close to her way. You can control her movements to some extent but it's still pretty fickle.
Overall a good stealth game that the controlled rewind and pause time mechanics makes doing over stealth segments (which the whole game is mandatory stealth) a lot more enjoyable. Unfortunately the randomized loot to craft the various, mostly lethal, tools made actually using said tools infrequent. Not that you needed to, I managed to play the whole game without killing any guards and just using my grappling hook to make noise to distract guards.
Still a fun game for those interested in a less hardcore stealth experience, or at least one with less quick saves and reloading.
Edit: Looks to have take 6 hours to complete though it does need at least 2 playthroughs to get all the endings.

@Jazz@Betsuni thank you for letting me know. I bought the game a long time ago but I have no idea where the discs went. I'll have to see if I can add it on the mobile app as I'm away this weekend.

So, Fallout, isometric post-apocalyptic RPG,deep story and moral decision simulator, is free on Steam. I doubt anyone here doesn't have it, but if so, now's your chance.
Admittedly it's your chance to miss shots at rays in a cave over and over again because level one sucks, but hey, the power armour is pretty.
Holy crap! Got a message from @Iolo and it was a key for Divinity OS 2! Thank you sooo much that was incredibly nice of you. I know where the money I was going to use for that game in the future is going

Just put all the clocks forward because of Daylight savings in a couple hours.
Was going to play an hour of Doom before midnight but now all our clocks are at 1:03am.
On the wrong side of thirty, so now I feel I have to say things like "thirty-six years young." The best part about this city I'm in, and I assume most cities are the same way, is that on your birthday, if you so choose, you can go around to various places to get a bunch of birthday stuff. Like, I know I can get a free breakfast at Dennys, this place called Charley's has a free burger, there's free ice cream at Baskin Robbins, a lot of free drinks at bars... but it's all just stuff with calories Apparently birthdays are about being fat. Which I am, so I guess that works.
It's a wonder that as a kid I didn't flock to games like Burgertime or M.C. Kids. I do remember playing Yo! Noid though!

Slayaway Camp for some dollars is a good deal. The game successfully tricks you into thinking slide puzzle games are good, the devious little bastard.
