Managed to finish the gladiator pvp set for the rogue. In my opinion it is by far the coolest one they have created, with the horde getting the really amazing colours. Shoulders still look stupid, so away with them.
I am really meh on that set as the hat is dashing the rest is really not for me
Personally, I felt that the Aspects losing power and influence over the world was more interesting than them just always hanging around to clean up after us. It's some measure of story progress in a genre of game that historically has been stagnant in the story department.
I think that it's a bit exhausting that every time we fight a villain, a bigger one - the real danger to all time and space! - steps out from behind a curtain (it's like watching DBZ all over again), but I wonder if it's inevitable in a genre like this. Not that this is an excuse for Blizzard not to try and do something different and interesting. I'm curious to see what happens if we ever take down the Void Lords. Once you've defined evils that are basically outside your cosmology, where do you go once those evils are defeated?
This is true, and from the other perspective do you really want a Forgotten Realms situation where the players are constantly not fighting the big bads and it feels like nothing you do matters?
I feel like the big mistake they made narratively on wow as a whole was pulling the trigger on burning crusade way too early. Lich king should have been first, since that was the obvious big bad from Frozen throne, then probably cataclysm and pandaria to wrap up the big stories of azeroth, then outlands/wod/burning isles/argus as a coherent arc.
I agree with your first statement about havingnthe players actually confront the world's big bads, but the problem with having the same big threat for a bunch of expansions in a row is that people will get fatigued of them, especially when multiple expansions means all the content for like 6-8 years.
Like I'm already pretty sick of demons and we've only been fighting them for 1 whole expansion plus the last patch of the previous expansion

Final Fantasy 14 has had the same bad guys since the beginning: the Garlean Empire as a physical, worldly threat; and the Ascians as an otherworldly, existential threat. Neither one is played out because the developer team for FF14 has actual talented writers on who know how to give both the good guys and the bad guys wins and losses and how to mix things up whenever necessary.
The problem with WoW has always been that a new threat emerges, then we steamroll it while maybe losing an underwritten NPC or two in the progress, and then it's on to the next big thing we can steamroll.
Well, it seems like the glorious new Warchief is about to do something stupid. I like that not everyone in the Undercity is happy with Sylvanas rule, though. This Desolate Council has potential.

Oh good, Horde as bad guys again. Glad we're returning to that old chestnut for the umpteenth fucking time.
Even with Metzen, the Horde were usually the ‘bad guys’. WotLK the Horde stupidly attacked the alliance in Icecrown for the sake of glory, Cata we did war crimes, MoP, we were just fucking assholes. The worst thing the Alliance has done is.... burn down that Tauren Village. And they made damn sure that Alliance players knew that the guy in charge only did it as a last resort. Can’t have your squeaky clean Alliance ever doing anything that might be considered.... bad. They even cleaned up Moira Bronzebeard, the darkest (heh) racial leader they had.
I’m still not sure peoples fears of Sylvanas turning into Garrosh 2.0 are relevant. The only zone that features faction tension is Stormheim, which is very one sided. Sylvanas is there to find a way to keep her people and herself from dying out, and Glenn is The one that instigates hostilities. I understand that he has a very good reason to be furious at Sylvanas (his son) and I found myself cheering for him at the end of the Stormheim cinematic, but he’s the only one focused on factional strife. Well, Jains as well...
I bet 24 hours from now I’ll have to revise everything I just said.
I'm hoping that the attack on Stormwind is just the climax for the book, and not something that happens in game.
You know. I was actually a big fan of Richard Knaack's WOW books. Especially the WOTA trilogy, which is still the best warcraft book released, IMO. I'm kinda of sad that Blizz doesn't seem to want him anymore.

The problem with Knaak is that, well, a lot of his books are about Rhonin...which is pretty much his self-insert, complete with hot elf wife. Which is why Blizz killed him off.

The book is said to be a bridge for the next expansion. None of it will happen in game but it is going to support what does happen.
So pretty much this is supporting faction war being a major focal point again. Comparisons to MOP are seeming pretty apt. Like a lighter hearted start to the story with faction war being a primary focal point till some shit hits the fan.
On the novel spoilers. This is a Sylvannas plan. And like many Sylvannas's plans, a lot of things can and will go wrong the second that the tire hits the road.

A character that has Mary-sue traits is not always a bad character. Look at Phil Foglio's Agatha Heterodyne (of Girl Genius). She has plenty of Mary-sue traits, but she is not considered one as far as I know. In fact she's very popular. Rhonin is not a bad character.
And I have to say that besides Rhonin, most of Knaack's novels in WOW just read and felt better. His stories felt like adventures, and his worlds felt like places I'd like to go in the game. I never had that impression with Christie Golden, and I haven't felt it sofar with William King.
Dragon aspects were boring, Legion's 'bout to be dealt with, and the Old Gods are next on the chopping block.
Which is kind of weird ordering, because given that we've already killed two of them it doesn't really feel like the last one is as monolithic a threat as an invading force from beyond the stars that has already conquered most of the known universe. It's kind of like going to 10 and then dialing down to 6.

It's the Void Lords that are the big bad, not the Old Gods.
The entire reason the Legion even exists is because Sargeras decided that it was better for the universe to be destroyed in fel fire than be consumed by the void lords, because they couldn't be defeated.
Of course, we'll defeat them in raid combat by watching some DBM timers.

What are you talking about, Blizzcon leaks? Do i need to keep out of the thread?
On the plus side, you're still effectively done after 2-3 weeks, since there aren't many classes who would use more legendaries than that.
I raid as assassination age quest as subtelty. Sub i use the class talent ring and self heal pants (between the pants and subs ridic high dodge it turns me into a tank in solo pve content). Assassination i use crit in stealth shoulders and poison bracers. I used to use the bracers for aoe fights and Vendetta cd reduction boots on single target, but then the spaceship trader guy gave me 950 boots so now i run the bracers always.

Wowhead posted the entire first chapter of the next Warcraft novel, and it shows the afterwar parade and celebration in Orgrimmar, I won't spoil anything else for you I promise.
I'm just going to assume whatever's going to happen is going to be Horde-instigated because only Horde leaders can be the villains. Vol'Jin was too smart to do that so he had to be removed first.
Let's be fair, Sylvly has been being built up to be a villain for a while now. When she finally snaps she's gonna definitely be in the "I did what I had to do" camp, but she'll still be a villain. My own take is that she's gonna snap because people keep rejecting the "Gift" of "Immortality" she's trying to give. Her excuses for her actions are sounding more and more like Arthas every expac.

Okay but like could she maybe leave the Horde then.
I'm sick of being the bogeyman because the writers don't want to piss off Alliance players.

Honestly at this point it is so hard to want to stay Horde
right now I have only a few reasons for staying Horde
1. Arcane Torrent.
2. I don't want to be the guy who forces guildies to spend money to transfer, and I don't want to leave the guild
3. Arcane Torrent
4. I don't want to split up all my characters and don't want to spend as much money as it'd take to xfer them all
5. Arcane Torrent

My guild/friends are literally the only reason not to faction transfer because they've turned the Horde into cartoonish villains and killed off the interesting characters.
I have to assume that there’ll be some hamfisted moral reason she’s doing it that will be frustrating for all heck as a player to argue about in trade chat, like “there was a poorly communicated retreat so the alliance thinks it’s a backstab”, because whatever they’re doing with sylvanas they’ve been trying to consistently present her as intelligent. And an assault on the capital of your equally-strong enemy does not seem like that
I've never liked Horde but I like playing with forumers and friends so Horde it is. I've played it so long now I don't even care anymore about the factions. A faction war expansion would be the least interesting possible thing for me.

Ugh Christ I've tolerated a lot of story nonsense from WoW's writing team before but if they pull some ham-fisted "Don't you see, you've become exactly what you hated!" bullshit with Sylvanas I'm just done.
My main reason for playing Horde is that I find the visual designs of the Alliance - the races, the clothing, the architecture - very boring and by-the-numbers fantasy. That's not really fair, there's definitely unique stuff in there, but the Horde visuals are more interesting (to me, specifically).

Yeah, I really wouldn’t give a shit if the Horde were painted as the “villains” because my guild is full of cool people and we play Horde, the actions of the faction leaders aren’t what make me enjoy the game.
If the next expansion isn't going all in on N'zoth/high seas and is going in the "faction war direction", my wish list would be:
character customization revamp (subraces, scars, tattoos, paint for dwarves, etc)
old world revamp (add lots of content and aesthetic retouching, make BC lands seamless/flyable, level scaling) with some small new areas (zandalar, kul tiras, tel abim and so on)
focused storylines for factions/races (order hall but for races/factions)
engine updates (better water and lighting)

Me neither, which is one of the reasons I don't have that much of a problem with storylines from the books not being shown that much in-game. I tend to build up storylines and background information on my characters in my head (three of my toons are brothers), and I focus as much on their "story" as on the in-game stuff.
I'm an Alliance player, I like alot of what is called "By-the-Numbers" fantasy, and have for years, but I understand that Horde players may feel differently. Frankly, I just don't have that much interest in what the Horde is doing, partially because the whole "noble savage" thing never appealed to me for more than short periods of time, and at worst because alot of the worst experiences I've had in-game involved Horde Players (Strangely enough, often Forsaken).

It's almost as if the race of undead monstorities who are constantly experimenting with deadly and painful biological toxins are ever-so-slightly more evil than the other races in the game.
The only way this would even remotely work for me would be if the player characters continue their role as class leaders and just go around yelling at both factions to STOP BEING SO DAMN STUPID!
Oh god, they are going to make Sylvanas and Jaina the faces of faction conflict, aren't they?

UGH I HAD FORGOTTEN THAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE A THING AGAIN
GOD DAMN IT
Remember that last time you probably had like, 6 or 7 legendaries, tops, on your main, with maybe 1 or 2 on a couple alts.
I now have all 15 of the Demon Hunter legendaries, plus all five of my other 110 tanks have at least 3 or 4 legendaries.
