There are something like 6 mounts (3 from drops, 2 from vendors, and 1 from achievements) and several pets in Tanaan so there's plenty of reason for folks to stick around there.
Stick around, yes, but at 110, when it's much easier to get around and kill things. Not much reason to do it at 100. Obviously hippofant is a special circumstance, but in general there's no purpose to doing endgame zones from the previous expansion. Level 90s shouldn't go to Timeless Isle, 100s shouldn't bother with Tanaan, and 110s won't bother with Broken Shore or Argus in BfA.
Well, again, I'm not really sure why people are here, but having played a couple hours in Tanaan tonight, I can say that there are definitely 110s rep-farming, based on the way they sit around waiting for rare elites to spawn and then move on. Saw a few players sit on spawns that do not seem to drop anything of note, other than fel-infused apexis fragments, saw 110s flying around trying to tag whatever rare elite they could find. Was actually really crowded there tonight.
Personally though, I would like to get Draenor flying, partially because I suck at navigating WoW terrain. However, I'm not sure my experience getting Draenor flying is really worse than other people's experiences getting Draenor flying; even though I have to compete with 110s who just instantly kill shit, y'all probably had to compete with more people when you were doing it. It just feels more unfair, due to the discrepancy in our abilities.
I got all the mounts from when they were relevant and I don't care if they become 100% drop rate now because it wasn't hard when I did it either (we just used a timer addon and abused group finder).
I don't disagree with you, but I think a lot of people would, based on my previous experience with the WoW forums/community and my experience with the Hearthstone community.
A lot of people would feel like their unique mount, which they spent a lot of time on, got devalued, and be upset that their time and effort in WoW was "wasted." And I don't know what an easy solution for that would be. Generally though, higher-levels coming to lower-level areas to farm/grind anything is, in my mind, a common design issue for MMOs. The way WoW hasn't quite fully integrated each of their expansions in properly as they're superseded exacerbates thing, and so does Tanaan's particular design with the focus on rare elites. (Though it'd probably still be frustrating if we had to grind normal mobs, but at least progress wouldn't be so contingent on something entirely out of players' control.)

oh I agree, just stating that there's a good reason why there are people sticking around there long after WoD was relevant content. I'm considering heading back there myself to hit the legendary pet battles there for fel-touched stones.

Really hoping naga become some kind of allied race after we "cleanse" the corruption of azshara or whatever. I know everyone instantly goes to "oh but how will they model leg armor?!". Just hide it, Most of them look stupid anyway. I'd 100% be fine with only having chest armor viewable if I can play as a naga.
I'd think sticking them on mounts would be the more jarring issue.

They can coil the tail underneath them as a makeshift pillow. There, done, issue resolved.
Give them a OOC form like Worgen where they turn into blue elves with legs.

I was in Tanaan just last night clearing out the rares and whatnot. I just want the achievement for killing them all, so there's a motive. I just happened to be in Draenor because the daily cooldown BS recipe gives 10 skill points per use and all the mats are in my garrison's mine so it's nice and quick.
I have to imagine that when someone was pitching the storyboards for the end of Antorus cinematic someone in the room said 'Fine, but we really need to dial that shit back in the next expansion. Because shit has gone completely beyond ridiculous.'
And thus we're going back to Horde vs Alliance.
Can we make
'stabbed the planet'
into the next 'jumped the shark'?
Honestly, I thought this was probably the best ending of an expansion...ever. BC had batshit Kael'thas for no reason. Wrath had "there must always be a Lich King". Cataclysm had green Jesus baby. MoP had panda jail. And WoD had Grommash's shit swept under the rug. Sure, Legion's end might have been over-the-top, but it felt epic and well-earned.
I really wonder with the scaling technology why they don’t just autoscale all the endgame/daily zones up to max level anyway. Or at least all the ones since cataclysm.
but then you'll go do those instead of the ones their employees put a lot of time into (this expansion)
Probably only new players/alts, and honestly if their new content fails to hold people’s attention more than the Molten Front or Tanaan Jungle they probably just need to fire everyone anyway.

I'd think i would like them to rotate which old zones to scale up to max level. Like timewalking but for zones. So, one week maybe one zone for each expansion is now max level. Hell, sprinkle some WQs (just by 'upgrading' old quests) in there and it will give me a good reason to go check out the zones in outworld, northrend, etc that I wouldn't otherwise.
The one complaint i have with Legion is that Argus is drab as fuck and it pretty much looks the same.

I really like how Argus and Antorus look. I think they have the strongest design in the expansion, but I also get why people are bored of them after two straight expansions of BLACK AND YELLOWGREEN BLACK AND YELLOWGREEN
Yeah I have been advocating that for a while. Just autoleveling everything would probably lead to everthing being too spread out, but doing it month by month or something might work.

I would looooove to see WQs appear in old content or even rotate through it weekly sort of like @Zombie Hero is suggesting.
Like the weeks that Wrath timewalking is up the Northrend zones all have scaled WQs that give relevant (but Wrath-era art) gear and rep. And so on for BC, Cata, etc. Even nicer would be if folks in that level bracket got to do them as well as an alternative source of XP like how legion invasions are in Broken Isles.
I'm wholeheartedly in support of anything that gets people back out in the world and not just in the most current content.

The time I spent last year camping Arcturis and Skoll were very relaxing and reminded me of how gorgeous Northrend is. I'd love an excuse to go back there, or to Outland, or even the Azeroth zones.

I was thinking about how the scaling rules will be working, and I think that they need to reevaluate it for some dungeons.
The fact tbc and cata will be scaling up to the expansion after them opens up a few dungeons (assuming they bother to do so) to being actually used while leveling instead of being lost to the annals of time. For TBC it would be the sunwell 5man and for Cata it would be all those caverns of time dungeons. Both of which I know I missed out on ever doing. However, you miss out on the 4 dungeons added post endgame in Wrath, and if there was anything in MoP you miss out on that too (I don't think there was though, weren't all the patch added dungeons in MoP just reworks of old dungeons made into heroics?).
At the very least, they should consider adding some scaling to the Wrath dungeons because those would be super nice to have in the rotation while leveling. Maybe not so much the Argent Tournament 5 man but the Icecrown ones were awesome.

Doesn't the scaling work the opposite way though, too? So yeah, you could hang out in Outland post-70, but you will also be able to start Northrend at 60?

I think one of the things they stated is zones keep their original base level and just scale up. But that was in a vanilla example, then they say outland and northrend are 60-80 so maybe. I guess it wasn't 100% clear yet. If so then yay, thats a super diverse set of dungeons.
Too bad I am doing all my alt leveling now with RAF. I couldn't find someone to help plow me through TBC dungeons (because the queues never pop even with tanks) so I did this "method zero" thing where you can log on to your same account with another window and you have like a 30-45 sec window where your other char is still online and gets exp. So you can powerlevel yourself through dungeons by grouping shit up and swapping to the char, then back to the main and killing everything.
Speaking of, I am reading up on Rogues endgame for fun as that is an alt I plan on playing, and looking at the list of bullshit they could avoid with cloak of shadows in TOS is making me bleed salt. Can completely avoid spear of anguish? Bull.

Whats the deal with these demon invasion things? Should I bother with them at 102? I see mobs I can handle but also some fairly meaty elites.
They're the fastest way to level up, if hitting 110 quickly is important to you (it may not be!).
Cheers, I'll remember that for the alts.
Can anyone recommend a good minimalist UI? I've literally never installed a UI before, I've always played on a widescreen monitor with plenty of space. I'm on a 15" laptop now, bit of a step down.
I just play with the default and scale the UI size down in the options. I'm sure if you just go to the curse website and look under UI youll see whichever the popular ones are though. Probably bartender or something like that.

Oh yes, looks like Javen was somewhat right about the dungeons. They have a min level still, but the wrath ones have min levels matching outland ones and all scale to 80. They don't list sunwell, but the icecrown dungeons are 70-80 so thats super.
Nothing on the extra dungeons in cata and mop yet though. Most heroics seem to be max level but some are unlisted (should assume they all are).
So basically from 70-80 you have every single tbc and wrath dungeon available. That is like 20+ options. Same 85-90 for mop and cata ones (but nothing on the COT cata ones so far, hope they get the same treatment as icecrown ones)

How do they scale? Can you LFG into them at 61 and 79? How would that work?
Being unable to LFG into some of the xpac dungeons as we were leveling was really disappointing, as new players who'd never experienced them.
Looks like the Violet Spellwing is this expansion's Grove Warden

They would LFG just like current ones do within their level range. Except now if you get it any time after its initial level it scales to you up to the max.
Pretty much you unlock double to dungeons from 60-70, then have them all for 10 levels. Then again from 80-85 and again all of em till 90.
It says something about "WoD scales just like it does now" in there, which confuses me because.... WoD doesn't scale. It describes this exactly the same as Legion, which DOES scale. So mixed signals about WoD scaling now.
Woo hopped on after work and found a group that was getting together for argus. First pull we wiped at 4% then we crushed it. Cool cinematic and now i got another legendary ring... which makes 4. Then i joined another group that was starting from scratch just to get more familiar with some fights. Ended up downing high command, eonar, and a bridge boss i forget the name of for the first time too. So i just have the construct dude through aggramar to hit this week.
I did also get two of the set chest off eonar... so that was dumb. At least one was warforged to 935 and had a socket.
So, first week. Between fucking around and looking at the sights and explaining fights got up to Aggrammar. Is kind of lame, got bored since there's nothing to heal because is normal and then got to still be on top to not die on a one-shot mechanic. Were basically doing a full tourist run up to the Forge boss.
Also, Varimathras is the most boring boss ever. Such a heavy weight lore character and the fight is move to one side and then the other, run away when you get the thing. Zzzzz.
Probably pugging the rest on the weekend.
