I think I'm going to sign up for this this year. I did it for a couple years like 6-7 years ago, but I kinda took a long break from here. Most of my post history is actually in the tech forum, but I like things people talk about here (besides Nintendo stuff), I promise! I just can't post to too many different types of threads anymore.

I was lazy about !Signing up, but that has been addressed a bit under the wire, let's do this thing!

Hints for whomever gets me:

I like board games, but my group and I have a pretty substantial backlog of them already. I love Lego, Mass Effect, Marvel movies, Star Wars, Star Trek, Warframe, DotA2 (watching, not playing), the Dresden Files (I own all of them though), and Shadows of Brimstone (which I own pretty much everything for, but I'm hoping to at least point people in a general direction). I'm a larger dude, so 2XL is my usual shirt size. There's plenty more, of course, but hopefully that plus a little forum stalking opens up some ideas.

Also I feel like we have way fewer entrants this year. We were in the 80s, but by last count this year we're only in the 30s. I know life happens, but that's a shame.

Was the cutoff this early in previous years? Not a complaint or criticism, I'm just wondering if maybe people expect to join later in the year and ending in October might throw some?

That said, I recall an at-signal, maybe funds are just tighter this time around? Or with the uncertainty of US healthcare and whatnot (with so many forumers in the US), trying to keep budgets slim in general?

In the last two threads the Assignment date seemed to be around the 1st of November, which lines up with something like this cutoff date. I had to go back and make sure, because lower participation is something that is concerning to me as well.
Is it because I'm just some random guy and that scares people off?
Is my recruitment post not jolly enough?


There are like 4 people I haven't added to my document of festivities (which means they aren't on the mega list in the OP).

Lots of regulars seem to just be unable to join this year. Is it odd to all be at once to drop participation so low, but not anything against you I'm sure.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this as well. I think we're just trying to give Radiation an easy year. Next year we'll put him through the ringer.

Honestly a lot of people are hard off monetarily this year. Our numbers will stay stable or go back next year.

We also usually get a lot of sign ups at the last minute. And even some people who come in late and usually get in I think, unless of course assignments are handed out.

Either way, we have more than enough now for a jolly G&T secret santa. I've been doing it for 7 years and I'm not about to quit now. It's always a good time.
