this is causing mucho plantation drama. the easiest way to quickly harvest all the fruit at once is to chop the whole tree down (plantation trees grow about 10 meters tall), so plantation owners are occasionally returning to their farm to collect their fruit (durians are best ripened when they have conveniently fallen to the forest floor, although you don't want to be underfoot when that happens) to find their entire crop of trees all felled overnight
