Damnit Tan Jiu don't you start with the stupid forced drama
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
BTW this is the 400th Manly Guys Doing Manly Things strip.
I find it interesting that the dude could also be a decent Superman (or more accurately, "Clark Kent, if he lived like Bruce Wayne"). Must be the curl.

How acceptable is it to come out as gay in highschool in China (this does take place in China, right?) - at my highschool in Toronto it was something a few students were able to do but there were definitely other students who shunned them for it.
By the time I got to university nobody cared at all, you'd regularly see same sex couples holding hands and displaying affection.

is Their Story a realistic take on this?
I think this is Korean.
Might be wrong.
And almost certainly not realistic, except in that technicly could happen but probably would not be what happens with most cases.
The cast seem to be the cool kids, so if they do something out of ordinary, or decide to go against trends, they get more leeway than regular crowd would.

Pretty sure the characters are in China, and Chinese.
There was ANOTHER comic centered around several likely lesbian characters where the characters were Korean, but is currently on indefinite hiatus due to the author having mecial issues.

Yeah, the Korean story was Fluttering Feelings, which didn't explicitly say it was addressing homophobia, but it was a constant underlying tension for the characters. Korea's hella homophobic, although attitudes are changing rapidly in the younger generations. So like the character's inability to just sit down and talk about their feelings honestly was a bit less about romance shenanigans, and more itself a commentary on the massive danger of coming out in Korea.
Chinese and Japanese homophobia tends to be less about disgust at homosexuality itself - both countries have long traditions of homosexual eroticism - and more pressure to fulfill traditional family duties of marriage and procreation. Both countries do have problems with discrimination and bullying, but it's not as dangerous. Japan's slowly gaining gay rights, while China has kinda been one step forward and one step back - though on the other hand the Chinese are used to ignoring what their government says is OK, anyway. China's also huge of course, so your experience as a middle upper class high school kid could be a lot different than off in the countryside. Their Story is definitely escapism to some degree, just in general it's tended to avoid any kinds of conversations about sexual identity or discrimination.
If anyone is actually reading Beloved, the pretty Chinese webcomic in watercolors, it has a story that's a bit more set in the real world. The doctor in her 30s is very closeted and has a fake boyfriend to bring home to the family, her big dream is just to get out of China. Meanwhile the teenage girl is way more self-assured about her sexuality, way more willing to face social stigma. It's kind of true to the generational dynamic in East Asia in general.

I have no idea if that's the TV show actor that played Devilizer that Kazu met years ago, or somehow Devilizer is real, or if the TV show actor is secretly for real Devilizer, or if that's Kazu in some kind of suit, or what. I love it.

First of all, it's super cool that the vision of Devilizer looks just like a certain version of a character in a certain arc of One Punch Man.
However, I'm willing to bet that that isn't Devilizer, it's the skeleton ninja referee. We saw a picture of him carrying grocery bags and wearing a long muffler.
That said, I love that she sees whoever it is as Devilizer, in much the same way that the eggscram team captain saw the firefighter as an eggscram player.
