by the way, the news about the steven universe movie pretty much solidifies my suspicion that cartoon network is actually fully behind SU as a franchise and that the airing schedule is intentional to that effect
in the past if a cartoon didn't fit the "only kids buy toys and that's where we make the real money" catagory by attracting an older demographic they'd just kill it; this hush-hush fucking ARG of not knowing when the next ep is airing is all about building, maintaining online fandom tension and cohesion, growing it by inches during the lull and then explosively dominating the discourse during the steven bombs and the occasional two/three parters
I gotta be honest, if I'm right about this - it's absolutely brilliant. Like, Machiavellian, cold, calculating, but top notch social engineering in the pursuit of commercial viability generated by cultivated adult fandoms with disposable incomes

New blue Steven star shirt is available to preorder on CN website.
Absolutely gonna do that when I get paid this Friday.
I'm on the comic-con exhibit floor and there's a beach city music stage for people to do Steven Universe karaoke and everybody is killing it and this is the best thing I've seen any comic-con.

I mean, if CN wanted Steven Universe gone, then they would've Symbionic Titan'd it a long time ago.

That was Genndy being very clear on what the show was supposed to be and not budging. They were punishing him

I got to sing on that stage! Did It's Over Isn't It in my baritone and had such a good time. Love that song.

Also if anyone wants to duet with me on Here Comes A Thought I'm totally down, I'll be around all weekend.
My rewatch of Steven Universe is almost complete and i gotta say the pacing works really well as a bing. Specifically Lapis’s character arc feels a lot less sporatic. I expected it to make less sense not more.

If it were to end with that, then I wouldn't be disappointed; we got a nice story and closure.
However, some of the stuff said in the trailer could indeed hint to things changing greatly as a result of the movie, potentially opening conflicts for future seasons. Could go either way, really.

They could always find a new conflict so them doing house cleaning regarding the ending to the series doesn’t concern me by itself. However all that talk about Stevens happy ending in the trailer reminds me of a lot of them movies that cap off the series.
Turns out that when you knock out the person at the top of an empire, there are like fifty guys ready and waiting to take a shot at being the person at the top of an empire. Who knew?
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

here's the thing
they said outright they're going to touch on Jasper again, maybe giving her a redemption arc
I don't see that happening in the course of a single feature film that's probably going to focus on Steven
also, and this is a bit more circumstantial
you dont show a giant multicolored combiner super robot without having all the parts joining up to fight at least once, and similarly I dont see that happening in the movie either

I call it Chekhov's Voltron
The Gems fought the combiner robot in the season finale. Like maybe they will do more with it but I consider that successfully checked off.
Chekhov’d if you will.
Jasper is a good point though. I don’t know I guess I’m mostly worried that we’re working off of old information? We know that they were forced to shrink the fifth season so some stuff might have just got left on the cutting room floor.

I was thinking that too.
congrats to the crewniverse!
Somebody at CN is supporting the show at least
Absolutely gonna do that when I get paid this Friday.

Spoilery I guess for a movie song.
Yeah..like what would it even be about with some of the lines in the trailer
I thought it was already confirmed?

It was confirmed a long time ago and the crew has made elusions to it since but its hard to tell at all what is going on.

Greg is Tenchi
I love that Steven's last name is just a Tenchi Universe reference. That is amazinggg.
