I don't know, sorry. But no one seems to be disputing it so I sort of took it at face value, which may or may not have been a correct decision on my part.

I still feel like I understand next to nothing about this game, but the numbers keep going up and I’m getting better at PvP, so I think I’m into Destiny.
i would actually suggest that based on my perception of the online clan members i see whenever i log in, someone could probably do a little cleaning of the main clan.
also i did the strike challenges today and just, damn it i really enjoyed them, there's just very little reason to care about them right now if I don't care about the zavala gear, and his gear is just a reskin so eh.
It's a little sad. I used to hang out in the heroic playlist all day, though i can't really compare the amount on content in d1 RoI to base D2. But I hope tweaks for strikes are on their list
I'm pretty sure the most recent patch nerfed the Orpheus Rig super energy recharge effect. Fallen dropships and that hive event on Titan weren't recharging my bar fully like they were before.

It might also end up just being rushed. Depending on how the season transition works there's not gonna be much time to get stuff that might be gone within like 6 weeks.
ie - the problem is incentives, not content (or not content directly)
The problem really seems to be imo, when you hear people complain and look at what they are saying, that they've just run out of reasons to do anything. Not that there isn't content they could be grinding.
Kinda see that in many people's reactions to the prestige raid. It's there but there seems to be many people who would raid normal Leviathan who are struggling to find a reason to do the prestige version.
I've not been able to play as much as I'd have liked in recent weeks so I still have incentives - levelling alts for one thing.
But this articulates a lot of what I've felt in terms of D2's shortcomings compared to end-AoT D1. For example: I used to love Strike playlist because although I was speedrunning strikes by the end, there was always the chance of strike-specific loot and skeleton keys that enabled meaningful light level progress. In D2 I might run strikes if there was a daily challenge but otherwise I'm not bothering. And this was one of my favourite things to do in D1.
It really shows that much of D2's fundamental progression systems were designed a long time ago, before the Live team made D1 work properly.
I'm still optimistic that Live will swoop down and make everything better. Right now, I expect resources are being poured into making the PC launch smooth. Once that's out of the way, then I will be expecting improvements.
Big changes are unlikely to come before a milestone update like Season 2 or the CoO expansion but if they don't come with those then I'm going to look for another hobby-game until they do.
It also doesn't help that most people post +50 ranks on a given planet to get a full set of armor for each. I want a full set of Gesym Knight but not that bad.

i think its pretty much just speculation based on what we know is coming. we know we have one more faction rally and IB this season, and its not a stretch to assume they'd come in that order. we know there will be 4 seasons in year one so having season 2 kick off early December makes sense and while we don't have a date we know the first DLC will drop sometime that month too. that schedule doesn't mention the Clarian(sp?) Call event though. that could coincidence with something else(Faction Rally or IB) or it could have a week all to itself before we enter Season 2. i'd say its a reasonable estimate but wouldn't be at all surprised if its not 100% accurate.
For me it's as much a content or quality of content issue as it is an incentive issue. The game doesn't need to be a better-designed skinner box. I just want more stuff to do.
I'd play Crucible for no other incentive other than fun, if I actually found it fun. D1 was my go-to competitive multiplayer game, but D2 is crap.
I'd replay the story missions if there were modifiers to make them interesting to replay, like there were for the heroic story playlist in D1.
I'd play the strike playlist if there were more than five strikes, and if some of them weren't terrible (Exodus Crash). They're also all too long. A heroic strike playlist with modifiers like in D1 would be nice.
I'd play the nightfalls more often but a lot of them are just plain annoying. I don't mind the timer, but I dislike jumping through hoops or shooting anomalies to increase it. When it's fun like this week (torrent + static timer), I'll run it multiple times even though I don't need any loot.
As for the raid, I think people would be more interested in the prestige mode if the enemies weren't obnoxiously beefy.
While patrols are much improved from D1, they do get repetitive. There's no Archon's Forge, Court of Oryx or Prison of Elders to add variety to your alien face-shooting.
Of course, it doesn't help that D2 disincentivizes playing it. The "anti-farming" timer for tokens on patrols and the lack of vault space discourage me from actually grinding towards the few incentives I actually have (like Gensym Knight armor for my hunter).

I figure the season will either go live with the DLC or soon after. Since it appears that things like the clan banner bonuses (hah) are tied to what they consider "current content" they wouldn't want them too far separated. My bet, assuming DLC drops December 5th (or whatever the supposed date was) is either on the 5th or a week or two later to go along with Christmas break for a lot of people.
Also - that's December, I need my SRL gentlemen, not the Dawning~
For me it's as much a content or quality of content issue as it is an incentive issue. The game doesn't need to be a better-designed skinner box. I just want more stuff to do.
I'd play Crucible for no other incentive other than fun, if I actually found it fun. D1 was my go-to competitive multiplayer game, but D2 is crap. Definitely less fun overall, agree.
I'd replay the story missions if there were modifiers to make them interesting to replay, like there were for the heroic story playlist in D1. I think this is an incentive issue as well, they used to give marks etc to give you a decent free source. Something needs to replace that as well. Ikora's Meditation tokens aren't getting it done.
I'd play the strike playlist if there were more than five strikes, and if some of them weren't terrible (Exodus Crash). They're also all too long. A heroic strike playlist with modifiers like in D1 would be nice. I don't mind the length, generally, but we do need a bunch more, with strike specific loot and/or some kind of incentive to do the playlist again
I'd play the nightfalls more often but a lot of them are just plain annoying. I don't mind the timer, but I dislike jumping through hoops or shooting anomalies to increase it. When it's fun like this week (torrent + static timer), I'll run it multiple times even though I don't need any loot. I don't mind the Nightfalls, but when I don't have anything I need there is no reason to do any that are even the slight bet aggravating. Agree.
As for the raid, I think people would be more interested in the prestige mode if the enemies weren't obnoxiously beefy. So true. It doesn't give anything I want. No light increase (for whatever that is worth. No new weapons. Armor with a different shader that you may not even get to drop. Red bars that take a magazine+ to kill. We gave it a half assed attempt. Realized no one really cared and moved on.
While patrols are much improved from D1, they do get repetitive. There's no Archon's Forge, Court of Oryx or Prison of Elders to add variety to your alien face-shooting. Not sure if there is an actual fix here other than added variety through your suggested means. Though that gets old quick as well. Without some sort of thing to chase, awesome rare weapon etc etc it is hard to motivate people to do the same content over and over. I hate mentioning random weapon rolls again, but pulling them without something (perhaps less aggravating to people) to take their place was an error IMHO.
Of course, it doesn't help that D2 disincentivizes playing it. The "anti-farming" timer for tokens on patrols and the lack of vault space discourage me from actually grinding towards the few incentives I actually have (like Gensym Knight armor for my hunter).
Yeah, good points Shryke. It definitely is that the game seems to actually not have incentives to play....but I also find it pretty damning that people don't even want to do the prestige raid once....because the way they have it set up, it's just not fun (your mileage may vary / opinions etc).
That last one I find scary, actually, because better incentives to play something I don't enjoy.....ugh, that'd be bad. But as Squall also said, even higher light means nothing, so maybe even then I wouldn't care.

I don't like the prestige raid because it doesn't conform to how everything in D2 is set by power level. If you're at the minimum activity level, the damage out/in is pretty much consistent across the board. In the prestige raid red bar enemies simply have 3x more health and do double or triple damage. Elsewhere in the game, if you're under powered, the enemies have a red skull next to their health to indicate this. In the prestige raid, nope, they simply have way more health and do way more damage.
Lazy.
I do like the mechanic changes though but I have no interest to do it again in the future.
Better Devils - can this be a reward from Gunsmith rank-ups, or am I fucked do I need to play Crucible to get it?
I know this is an anecdote and RNG is gonna RNG, but I burned ~800 gunsmith mats this weekend (32-ish packages?) and never saw Better Devils despite seeing a couple of other guns repeat, so I don't think Gunsmith is a viable source.
I saw a couple responses about Leviathan key chests, but that's also all RNG. Since I've been doing the raid weekly and still don't have it, I'm just going to write that off as a passive chance from a much larger pool.
That leaves me with Crucible. Yuck. I did CtA on Hunter and Warlock this weekend with no luck. I also realized that Shaxx tokens would require 10 wins or 20 losses, which to me seem like a lot of time invested for a single vendor rank-up.

I agree. (I've been away for a few days but am back now.) Destinytracker used to give us Last Played data (i.e. "Four hours ago"; "Two days ago"; "Eleven months ago") - without that, it's hard to really know who has stopped playing vs. who plays at odd hours or plays intermittently but consistently.
But we can see what level your highest character is, and we have five people who have been 267 and below for weeks, so I have the feeling that those people stopped when they hit the endgame. Unless you are one such person and object, I think I will bounce them this week and make room for five people on the wait list. Everyone else is 282-305.
29 people at 305;
16 people at 304;
07 people at 303;
06 people at 302;
06 people at 301;
02 people at 300.
Interesting how that shakes out.

You can use Destinytracker and check the date of their last activity. I sorted the clan by power level and started at the bottom, clicking on names, then scrolling down to see how long ago their last activity was. Anyone who hadn't done something in over a month got kicked.
I gotta admit, I underestimated just how much of Destiny 1 was the result of the Live Team being really fucking good at what they do.
Hopefully the secret to saving Destiny 2 isn't buried in a box under the tree in Bannerfall. They'll never find it!

Especially at Callus, even with scouts that use triple tap.
Using scouts and being the away team is right out.
So based on that release schedule, 7 weeks from pc release is expansion one, Curse of Osiris?
Assuming they sync the pc and console schedules by then.

I think the idea underlying that kinda misses the point a bit and I think this other post from reddit really nailed the issue:
