I got an 8x scope at the start of the match and managed to die in the middle of the pack with it because I suck. Then again I ran out of cover because of safe zones changing and opened fire on someone which let someone open fire on me.
second to last dude was pinging away at me while i was using a med kit. one more shot would've dashed my chicken dinner hopes and dreams, but i full healed in the nick of time, turned around and headshot the fool
last dude was over a ridge, threw a bunch of nades giving away his position, i ran right up to him and mowed him down.
my heart is still pumping.

Christ I just died in the first few minutes of a match right now in an unexpected way. I happened to drop with a few people in a town that was in the safe zone already, but I made a move to get to a town deeper in right away after finding a couple things. Found a bike, arrived, and I parked in front of a building that JUST SO HAPPENED to have the one guy in the whole match to have the same idea (this was nowhere near the plane's flight path). We kinda looked at each other, from the ground and balcony, dumbfounded like "shit already?" for a few seconds before actually opening fire.
So what's the story on region locks? I can't find anything but memes about what pu has said about "how americans are xenophobic" but honestly about 40% of my games end with me being plinked by hip fire from 600 yards away by a ump or m16 with a solitary guy not on a team who's perpetually leaning and has an asian name.
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

The thing is that region selection is a matter of practicality. I want to have a good ping rate so I choose where I live. I expect everyone else to as well.
Additionally if I'm going into any team gameplay at all, I want to be able to communicate with my team. I ran into this problem a LOT in DotA 2, where people were playing out of their region and not able to speak the language I do. It's not about xenophobia, it's about being able to work together as a team. If nobody knows what anyone else is saying, how do you actually coordinate and work together?
I like FPP a lot more. It took some getting used to.
I wish there was a mode where they had a single player target range where they had all of the various weapons/scopes/etc and had dude shaped targets in windows, or moving across the map, or standing still so I could practice with the various guns. Maybe have a "sniper setting" where it gives a camera in camera that's pointing close to the dummys so you can see where you shots land at different ranges.
If, if Reagan played disco He'd shoot it to shit You can't disco in Jackboots
I cannot for the life of me aim using the 4X. All other scopes are fine, but I'm actually better at killmaking on longer ranges with a red dot than a 4X, and I've played like 150 h by now so it's just embarrassing.
Is there a way to get it to click or am I just stoopid? I think it jumps to much and just throws me off, regardless of which AR I use. Sniper rifles are ok.

Dude was probably just too scared to move and the circle got him.
He probably preferred dying to the blue sphere rather than giving me points for a kill, the coward.
I don't get being this stingy. Hell if I'm far enough away from the blue and I know my medpacks won't be enough to get me there I'll throw a smoke grenade ontop of myself then blow myself up with a grenade in the hopes that someone behind me will hear it (I'll also fire a bunch of shots into the air before doing this) and potentially use my supplies to make it themselves. Whats the point in being stingy if you're just going to be in another server next round anyway?

Interesting.
I hide all my good stuff in a bush before doing a suicide attack run so that they cant get it.
Gotta say both approaches are valid and one of the biggest draws for me in this game is that nearly any play style or plan is viable.
Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Vendetta kills are also a very important part of this game. I will forgo all rational behaviour for a revenge kill on an opposing team. Vendetta must always come first.
I've jumped from roof tops, landing with just a silver of health, and unloaded on someone with my pistol just so they couldn't run off with my vehicle, despite the fact that I am deep in the white circle. I am not a rational person.

Well see that's different. I do that too, no sense giving the guy behind you gear when there's the potential for confrontation. I'll also pick up duplicate weapons (and then drop them in a field) to deny them to potential adversaries. I just don't see the point in denying them that stuff after you're already dead/are about to suicide though.

This I have absolutely done. Usually with ammunition though. Pick it up, and chuck it somewhere obscure.

So I guess there is a small bug where when you hip fire, the first shot out of the gun is delayed slightly from your button press. Every press after that is perfectly lined up like you would expect. This bug resets if you don't shoot your gun for 15 seconds. Obviously it hurts shotguns the most, because that first shot is super important, and you are most likely to mess it up when you are turning quickly, like you would in close quarters. So I guess either aim down sights with everything, or make sure your reticle stays on your target like your shotgun has to charge up a shot for a split second.

The universe delivered two full squads to us in the forest by the mansion and this happened:
*snip*
That makes me want to play with a group of people but I'm scared of being the weakest link and being hated.
Actually, if you die in the first 2 minutes, you can still help out by being a second set of eyes (spectate your team/duo mate). One of my chicken dinners was a duos where my partner got greased in the first minute after we dropped. Because I sometimes miss things, he was able to pick out people I might not have seen and call them out to me.
edit - just...for the love of all that is sacred and good...do not backseat game. Call out a target, but do not start dictating what the person you're spectating should do in response.

What I've learned between the games I get 1-2 kills and 8+ is "be aggressive" and "fire fast and hard, even at distance"
That's what has me wondering... I had a round, on my first day of having the game, where I got 5 kills. Never been able to get that many before again (plus the game crashed, I may have gotten more in that round). I wasn't playing particularly smart during it.
And like... am I supposed to throw out all the conventions I learned from other FPS games to be successful at this one? Like the concepts of 'ranged' weapons and such? That spray & pray is bad?

TPP when I am playing with everyone else
I'd agree that FPP has a bit less.

Here's a good one(wait for the death cam): https://streamable.com/tdn42
Also had a superhero in my lobby one time too: https://streamable.com/39ivk
That happened but after pressing the recording toggle.
Lower 4x sensitivity in control options
You should definitely find some people to play with. It's a completely different game.

Squads aren't so bad as long as the other people have a good attitude and are friends.
I'd avoid random squadding like the plague.
