Not yet. They're thinking about it. I think they expected more results from the soft ping lock.
One of the other big factors in me enjoying the recent event so much was that it didn't seem to have as many Chinese players. I don't know if that's specific to the shotgun event or events in general but I would guess it's similar to the FPP/TPP divide. Most hackers play the default mode. Event isn't default, so it was hacker free.
Not sure what changed in the on-going battle with cheaters, but they're back in force. 4/5 games was death by cheater last night.
It was a nice break while it lasted.
Kinda par for the course any more with online gaming. They patch/fix some loop holes, then new cheats come out and it just ebbs and flows. I'm pretty sure one of the big business models for hacks is subscriptions these days, for that very reason.
I think I slightly like the style of Radical Heights more than Fortnite, if only because they don't do the wonky toontown exaggeration on the environment. The neon 80s thing is a little grating, though. It doesn't go full-on cyberfiction like Blood Dragon. It wants to be a dystopia gameshow, but it doesn't take many cues at all from Running Man. Instead it plops you down in the middle of some bland suburbia? With vaguely 80s themed buildings like arcades and diners and... laundromats? It's just confusing how they ended up with this setting.
The mechanics seem really off, since the closing map sections barely seem to come into play. From what I've watched, it drops to 10 players before the second zone closing, and then directs the last 10 people to a showdown circle right away. Not exactly as well balanced as the blue zone from PUBG, that's for sure.
Bosskey and Cliffy B? Not really what I'd expect from them, but then I don't know what I really was expecting from them after Law Breakers.
PUBG came before Fortnite's battle royale mode. The gunplay is more realistic in PUBG than fortnite.
There's also a dedicated FPS mode, all guns can be ADS'd, leaning is a thing, weapon mods are also a thing (extended magazines, grips, stocks, muzzle devices, etc...), you can pick up clothes to customize your look mid-match, armor isn't just a second health bar...
I guess what I'm saying is that, aside from the core 100-person free for all battle royale bit, the two are pretty different.

I think Turambar was talking about Radical Heights.
From the small amount I watched, there wasn't really anything that would be a good fit for PUBG to copy. In game money works sort of like BP, except you can use it during a match for weapons/armor. While it could be fun to have to loot players in PUBG for the BP, I would hate running across a weapon that I couldn't use because I was short on resources. Radical Heights also does the Fortnite thing where you can't see exactly what is in some loots spots (chests/presents), and have to stand still to open them.... which is sort of already in PUBG in the form of dead player boxes.

I'd say Radical Heights is aping Fortnite*. Which in turn copied/was inspired by PUBG.
There is a huge difference between the two though. Fornite is free to play, PUBG is not. The fact that they're so close in player count with that difference in cost is kinda crazy and speaks to PUBG's appeal. I'm not sure that Radical Heights will be able to compete with Fortnite if it isn't F2P.
And it's a Cliffy B game so...
*speaking of... has anyone heard of Paladins? Is that thing still going?

A lot of people would leave for a Frostbyte engine DICE game. I wouldn't. I just want Arma but not broken. I thought that was what was going to happen with pUBG using the unreal engine.
Cheating is a big problem for PUBG, and every month is banning more and more players, and more and more of those players are coming from China. In fact, just last week we found out how deep that cheating culture goes, and why it's seen as so acceptable to HAX your way to a win.
Long story short - the fix is in big time, even with big-name hardware vendors.
My colleague Ben Mansill was in Beijing last week for Intel's big reveal of its new 8th gen processors, and alongside the chip release, a lot of laptop and PC makers were also on hand to spruik their goods. Dell was a big part of the dog and pony show, and a big part of the company's spiel was how many more 'plug-ins' you could run.
Plug-ins. Also known as cheats.
Here's a bit more of what Dell spokeperson Sally Zhang had to say about how to win more chicken dinners:
She spoke of how Chinese gamers are the most innovative and dominant in the world by using "plugins" to, for example, run faster than other players, or blow up ten cars at a time, and that these top gamers can really use 8th-Gen power to "run more plugins to win more at Chicken Dinner", and that the top players run the most 'plugins' so that's where 8th-gen Dell power gives them the gamer's edge. Behind her a video proudly shows various cheats in PUBG in action (they really like the one with the massively oversized gun and show that a lot), with the new Dell gaming laptops shown every few seconds while Sally told us that gamers should buy a Dell because they're better at running many plugins. Wow.
I was surprised. A major PC company like Dell endorsing that kind of thing is surprising. Especially in China where PUBG hackers have been sent to jail.
Also, a personal note. I hate "plunkbat". I hate that fucking forced meme.
edit- oh hey, update. Some people are going crazy over clothing spawns being removed. I strongly disagree. There ought to be clothing spawns. They let players see cool stuff and try it on.
But... if Bluehole isn't bothering with updating the clothing spawns with new clothes then I don't see the point of them. Clothing spawns were fun when you could pick up a rare crate item like a black leather coat. But they've added more crates and have not updated the clothing spawns, so what's the point?
So, there ought to be clothing spawns. There ought to be more clothing spawns. And if BH aren't gonna do that, well, I guess I don't really mind the clothes going away. But I don't think it's going to be a major fps improvement like most players expect it to be.
edit edit- oh geez, some of these changes I really don't like.
On Miramar specifically, players can now see the first safe zone while flying in the airplane. (We may or may not carry this over to the next live update. We want your feedback about this change.)
Except for the first blue zone, the probability of creating an extreme safe zone (one far away from the center of the previous circle) has been reduced by 30%.
As the end of the match approaches, the safe zone will increasingly favor areas with land over areas with water.
And changes I think are A-OK:
You can also kick any team member using “Team” tab in the friends list, found at the bottom right corner of the screen..
The Oasis can now be found in the north, and Alcantara village has been added to the northwest.
We’ve added more roads, off-road paths, and car spawning positions to facilitate easy travel into and out of the area.
Higher-tier loot is now more likely to spawn in specific areas of the north of Miramar.
We’ve optimized the GPU performance of buildings seen from mid-range (all maps).
The damage inflicted by 7th, 8th, and 9th blue zones has been increased.
Blue zone delay time has been reduced. You’ll be given less time to linger between phases.
The maximum movement speed of the blue zone has been reduced. The blue zone will move more slowly toward the end of the game.
The rest I'm fine or mixed about. This one in particular I'm mixed about:
The final blue zone will narrow down to the center instead of narrowing down to a random spot, and the total wait time including the blue zone inactive time has been reduced. (195 seconds to 90 seconds)
I prefer the randomness (if that isn't obvious from my dislike of some of the other blue circle changes). More consistent circles might be fair, but bullshit is PUBG's bread and butter. Sometimes you're the bull, sometimes you're the shit. I wouldn't have it any other way.
I can see a version of pubg that I would leave pubg for.
I can't see them making it though.
If FarCry 5 was like "bam, 100 man battle royal mode" but with like, maybe a tad more realism I would probably be all over that. That is a really pretty looking engine.
Completely agree about the clothes. I actually pick up a few things once in a while. I wish all the clothing items were just in the game as spawns.
I also kinda wish there was something like if you picked up/looted an item and won, you got to keep it. Obviously they aren't going to do that since they love selling this junk, but I think your average person wins so rarely it would barely be an issue. Hackers are another story of course...
Also, the Dell thing surprises me that they're just so blatant about it.
Oh in that article is linked a response by Dell:
"Dell is fully committed to supporting fair play in online gaming. We do not encourage nor endorse any behavior that undermines fair gaming practices. Dell has a strong track record in partnering with gaming teams, aiming at providing world-class gamers with the ultimate experience. In an attempt to communicate the power of the new Dell G Series, inappropriate modification examples were used in Dell’s product launch event in China last week. This does not reflect our global gaming culture or strategy. We condemn any modifications misused in gaming."
So basically... We said all that stuff but we were just kidding guys. Wtf? lol
Are they replacing those spawns with weapons/gear?
Hmm, that might them too plentiful.
I'd hope they don't, but maybe also even out the spawns a bit more.
Not too much, but one warehouse having nothing except a shot gun choke, and the one next to it have a pile of ARs on top of each other happens way to frequently. (though last night it sucked for the other guy, so I'll tkae it)

Kinda in the same boat as you on Radical Heights.
I love the concept in theory, but the game is alpha as all get out. And I've an eyebrow raised as high as it can go in the Devs direction about releasing the thing when they did.
That said, I'm not full on hating the game. I just really hope they actually capitalize on the neat premise they got.
Like;
Screw real weapons, go fucking crazy with em. Rifle that fires saw blades, an acid tank you can hose people down with, a compound bow that fires explosive arrows. Shit man, go nuts!
The map. Bland suburbia? Really? Really?! Fuck that! The players are on a TV set. Make use of that! Divide that map up in to "sets" sci-fi world, wild west, Miami Vice, what-have-you. The world is literally your oyster here.
The cosmetics. Don't settle for generic 80's stuff clothing. Go full on Liberace, Prince, Bowie, Cher literally anyone from 80's era WWF. I want to be killing fools while resplendent in a sequin cape, speedo, and high heels. While rocking the permiest of perms and Magnum PI 'stache!
Maybe put an AI in charge of determining which grids become off limits to help funnel players toward each other.
Honestly the big thing Radical Heights has done for me is make me ask why we don't have an awesome Running Man/Smash TV game.
Otherwise the game is basically early Alpha so there is time to change and/or add things and I am sure they will certainly do the latter. That said I'm not holding my breath, but I'm not wishing the worst on the Devs either as I do want them to succeed.
Also, on a side note, you don't really have to use cash to buy weapons or armor. I mean you can, but there is very little reason to unless you've just been really unlucky with spawns. Which can happen. Otherwise you're better served saving it to buy cosmetics after the match. Apart from the rocket launcher which costs around 3k (which is CRAZY expensive, but also a rocket launcher) all the other weapons cost between 150-300. You get 100 from an ATM and about 50 from a cash register. Not counting all the prizes that are generally worth 100-1000. If you don't die right off the bat you can very, very easily get 500 or so within the first minute or two.
A Capellan's favorite sheath for any blade is your back.
I've also had silencers and shit hide underneath trench coats and the like.
This is a feature imo.
I'd be very happy if clothing stayed but gun were given priority over clothes while spawning. But I guess Bluehole either didn't think of that or were unable to implement it due to spaghetti code.
They should just have dynamic circle time/size and vehicle spawns. If the circle is going to be off in a corner, make each circle a little bigger than normal, give x% more time, and spawn more vehicles. There are some great areas to fight at the map edges, but even if you risk going there for loot, you won't find a fight.
Nice. Got a chicken dinner our squad vs theirs. 3 v 4. We had 4 earlier but one of our team mates decided to run out into the open to act as bait. We told him that was a dumb idea and it wouldn't work and he did it anyway. Then he complained that we didn't use his noble sacrifice to kill the enemy players while they were ahooting.
Anyway...
We won. But it was a fair fight. Which is rare. Usually it's fairly unfair.
But... turns out it might not have been a fair fight after all. Our squad had a total kill count of 3 to their 19. My team mate thinks the one that downed him was fishy, but they don't seem blatant to me. They were also the only other non-Chinese squad, so I think they might have just been good players. I think that it was their massive kill count that doomed them, they must have been getting into a lot of engagements, and that can wear down your gear and health supplies.
I'm actually really unimpressed with the war mode. I was excited about it, but I feel like the play area is too small and the random weapons are blehh.
I liked the idea, but the implementation just doesn't feel that good to me.

Wait, hang on there. Why don't you like this? Haven't you seen the silly buggery that happened in Jackfrags' video from a month ago?
They seem to spawn in before the weapons do on a hot drop, so hopefully removing them will make that faster.
And even if not, it'll stop me from switching my pants instead of picking up an actual useful item.
And just reduce clutter.
