Audio out to PS4 controller - netflix and amazon video

I can't hear the actors or voice-overs. Any and all speech in netflix or amazon video is inaudible to me.
I have parents visiting, and sometimes wake up earlier than them, so I wanted a way to be able to watch netflix and/or amazon video through my headset connected to my controller.
The problem is that it doesn't seem to be working. I've done all of the stuff to make all audio go through the headphones instead of only chat audio, and while it's working for games, it's not working for amazon video or netflix.
I can hear the sound effects, special effects, and background music, I can hear everything except speech.
It's the same problem in both amazon video and netflix, whereas if I do the same in destiny 2, the speech files are coming through clearly.
Any thoughts?
