Neil Gaiman posted this yesterday on his blog. It was something he read at the wedding for a friend.
This is everything I have to tell you about love: nothing.
This is everything I've learned about marriage: nothing.

Only that the world out there is complicated,
and there are beasts in the night, and delight and pain,
and the only thing that makes it okay, sometimes,
is to reach out a hand in the darkness and find another hand to squeeze,
and not to be alone.

It's not the kisses, or never just the kisses: it's what they mean.
Somebody's got your back.
Somebody knows your worst self and somehow doesn't want to rescue you
or send for the army to rescue them.

It's not two broken halves becoming one.
It's the light from a distant lighthouse bringing you both safely home
because home is wherever you are both together.

So this is everything I have to tell you about love and marriage: nothing,
like a book without pages or a forest without trees.

Because there are things you cannot know before you experience them.
Because no study can prepare you for the joys or the trials.
Because nobody else's love, nobody else's marriage, is like yours,
and it's a road you can only learn by walking it,
a dance you cannot be taught,
a song that did not exist before you began, together, to sing.

And because in the darkness you will reach out a hand,
not knowing for certain if someone else is even there.
And your hands will meet,
and then neither of you will ever need to be alone again.

And that's all I know about love.
It made me miss... well, you know. Thank you for reading it.

    Hahnsoo, that is lovely.

    ...

[chat] I got this game called Bomber Crew and it's basically what it says on the tin. You manage the crew of a world war II bomber (Two gunners, a bomber, a radar op, a navigator, an engineer, and a pilot - 7 in total) while running various bombing missions into mainland Europe (you fly out of London).

Now, my first crew got into a spot of trouble returning from a mission over the Channel and went down in a field near Hastings, but I know that crew + plane #2 will do MILES better!

So who's with me? Recruiting for all positions! Taking all comers! I get to be the tail gunner 'cause screw you!

He has his moments. It's a very specific writing style and voice that appeals to a specific kind of person. The kind of person that dyes her hair black with neon highlights and carries around a copy of "Through the Looking Glass" in her tattered camo backpack with many buttons on it that I totally did not have a crush on in high school. Erm. :D

That's kinda a shame. He's done some pretty good stuff.

I got to seem him do some Q/A stuff and readings live a couple months back. It was worth the ticket price.

They moistly come out at night, moistly.

That was a much heavier conversation over the phone than I was expecting it to be.

I'm not sure how to feel about things right now.

Ronya P. Dog will have the important mission of calling out targets, enemy aircraft, and assisting the engineer in keeping the plane in the air!

@Abdhyius I was suggesting more that an immortal population, exploding in number at a staggering rate and consuming resources without establishing new, effective ways to manage scarcity would be much more likely to cause major conflict. Demographic problems wouldn't solve themselves anymore. Could lead to total warfare, which would be apocalyptic. I wasn't suggesting that we'd strip our planet of all resources and die out; that seems less likely and easier to control or deal with.

I wish it didn't feel so good to eat the stuff I shouldn't eat.

It makes it really hard to keep from slowly killing myself, even in the face of knowing how that would crush my family and friends.

    This slow suicide...

Finally, I'm conscripting Orphane Q Porpoise to be the bomber, Evil Multifarious as engineer, and the honour of piloting this rickety sky-boat goes to ... [chat] creator himself, Hahnsoo One!

The seven of us, naturally, will be known as Narwhal's Nerds, and the squad name will be spray painted in bright white paint on the side of our plane because I'm a genius.

Bomber Crew. You manage a crew of seven onboard a bomber during WWII. It usually goes about as well as you'd expect.

Lettuce, tomato, red onions and pickles are good standard sandwich veggie fare.

when you get into cooked veggies you can truck in artichokes, caramelized onions, eggplant, portabello mushrooms, etc.

Depending on regions olive spreads, cucumbers, etc. also play nice.

    Veggies on sandwiches are good!
