it seems insane to say given their success since, but that 96 patriots team that lost to the packers in the super bowl is still my favorite patriots team ever, and terry glenn was my favorite player on that team. it happened when i was 11, at basically the very beginning of my formative sports-obsessed years
god, that team
4000 yard season for a 24 year old bledsoe, 1000 yards rushing for a 23 year old curtis martin, 1000 yards receiving for glenn as a 22 year old rookie, 9 td for ben coates
that offense was a revelation, especially given the putrid years that came before, and it seemed like they'd be together for the next 10 years. of course parcells left the next year, martin the year after, and it was never the same with carroll
he never quite lived up to the promise of that rookie year, but man, he'll always be one of my favorites
You think they will spilt with Miami, and linked 3 seasons they got swept by them?
maimi is really bad
but no, the reason for those 3 in particular is they all had great starts with second half collapses. in 2011 they went 7 straight losses after a 5-2 start. as soon as the bills lost to the saints everyone in western NY went "here we go again". yeah maybe they do go 8-8 and fall into a playoff spot or whatever, but odds are it's yet another 6-10 or 7-9 season after a promising start.
A beat reporter asked McDermott which Peterman plays were "pretty darn good" because he literally said that same presser that Peterman made some plays that were pretty darn good, and he proceeded to talk at length about a single slant pass to Kelvin Benjamin.

my whole opinion the entire time has been they aren't going to win with tyrod so maybe they will win with peterman. now it's clear they're not going to win regardless so I really don't care that much who starts at QB.

It's interesting how the narrative flipped from "tyrod is terrible and deserves to be benched" to "no one could win with this garbage team"
As a Torontonian, I've been exposed to more Bills fandom than I would like over the years. They're probably the most Stockholm-Syndrome-d NFL fandom I know of. I mean, yeah, there are Browns fans and there are Lions fans. But Browns fans know their team sucks. Lions fans know their team sucks. Every post Edward or ObiFett makes about their teams carries with it the weight of knowing that their teams suck, and that any hope is likely false. They'll look at a bad signing in the face and call it a bad signing, but express hope that somehow, maybe it works out?

The Jets had a winning record after week 5. Are you going to argue that what they were doing was working?
I don't really think it makes much of a difference on who Buffalo starts, because everything else about that team as currently constructed is flawed. Tyrod is definitely a better football player, but is he getting them anything better than 8-8? Probably not.
were they scoring a lot of points? no
were they making a lot of stops on defense? no
were they running the ball well? no
did they pass the ball well? no
they were getting 3 turnovers a game which, surprise, isn't sustainable. take away that +14 turnover differential and you see what the bills are: not a good football team. there are a lot of problems and they all feed into each other. the OC isn't very good so the plays aren't drawn up well, the receivers can't get good separation so the QB problems are made worse which all makes the running game suffer because they know the passing game isn't opening up. it's like some kind of oroborus of bad football
that said at least there is some good news today because kevlin benjamin doesn't appear to have any ligament damage.

basically - my point is you should be either trying to win, or building for the future. the bills don't seem to know what they're doing. and that's the bigger issue
trading for kelvin benjamin implies they are trying to win now. benching tyrod a week later for a 5th round rookie doesn't. i'm just confused at what they are trying to accomplish.

my guess is the season started with building for the future, then you find yourself 5-2 and hey maybe it's worth a shot lets bring in this guy and then it doesn't work. the gameplay for the chargers game was almost certainly giving benjamin 15+ targets because peterman seemed to be better at getting the ball to him than tyrod. but then benjamin goes down 4 minutes into the game and now you're fucked. it's not like benjamin is some over the hill veteran either, and they probably would have needed to draft a receiver anyway and now they don't.

Arian Foster started getting hurt a lot after he switched to a vegan diet.
That's only two people but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a correlation of sorts.

Well they clear house in the offseason. Then they get off to a scorching start. Then they trade away Marcell Dareus, gutting their run offense. Then they trade for Kelvin Benjamin. Then they bench Taylor.
Trump would be like 5 times worse than Jerry Jones as an NFL owner.
It would be interesting to see the man who went bankrupt owning 2 casinos somehow manage to lose money owning an NFL franchise too.
As I posted he bought the New Jersey Generals USFL team when the whole league was going under helping to drive the whole league into insolvency. Because he thought suing to force the NFL to absorb it was a smart way to end up with a NFL team for cheap

If you want to succeed at business just do the opposite of what Trump does.

I love when they don't throw a flag, then the receiver/whoever complains, and the ref is like "Ok I guesssssssss" and finally throws the flag late.
Secrets, lies, and tragedy. The trifecta.

marcell dareus needed to go. he was getting 16 million a year, had multiple suspensions, and wasn't giving nearly as much effort after the contract. it was not worth it

None of those teams have played the Browns yet this season. The Browns are also 0-10.

Trump owned one of the United States Football League teams when it was a sinking business and pushed it further into insolvency.
