I went almost a whole week playing this game before I realized that purple weapons weren't just random weapons with random names and stats, a la Borderlands. I was confused why people were talking about named weapons I didn't see on the exotic list.

I just disassembled anything that was lower light level than what I was using.

    rip

but for real there are some legendary weapons that are better than exotics

it's really broken down like category of weapon and then individuals have different perks

so like, auto rifles are adaptive, which is lower impact, higher ROF, or precision, which is higher impact, lower ROF

there might be another type but who cares because those two are the best

a good adaptive AR is scathelocke, but an even better one is ghost primus, which is basically the same gun but has an added perk

a good precision is origin story, and i dunno if there's a better one

    Allegedly a voice of reason.

OS is pretty baller. I like the slower harder hitting Halfdan-D but its kinda inferior.

Some people like the Scathelock archtype, which is the same as the Raid AR. But, comparatively the faster rpm archtype just feel anemic vs the Origin story.

Once I actually started reading what they did and not just going on first impression feel, It turned out that the ones I liked lined up a lot. Which makes sense. Although I really really love the outlaw perk, so I was sharding Origin Stories left and right and rocking Halfdan-D. I do like the Scathelocke, but I think I just work better with the slower high impact weapons.

My biggest problem now is is finding an good legendary energy weapon. The most success I've had has been the MIDA Mini Tool. But I haven't found much else. Been using a Cadenza-43 at lot. But again, that's cause I really really love outlaw.

the interesting thing is that there are a ton more energy weapons but I feel like I've been gravitating to a smaller number of them than kinetic.

Though, new addition to that list, I am already in LOVE with the FWC SMG

My wife hates clutter in real life and I guess it really bothers her in Destiny too.

She pretty much deletes all gear that isn't in her current loadout.

She recently got an Antiope-D and I was like, hey don't delete that it's pretty good you might want to use it.

30 minutes later we're in between Trials matches and she's deleting the gear she got from the last round and I see her delete the Antiope-D

    whyyyyyyyyyyyyy

also she plays Trials with Mida, a blue sidearm (cuz she likes sidearms in PvP but she deleted all the purple ones she ever got) and wearing the Lucky Pants exotic (cuz it looks cool) and I can't decide if I love her or hate her for it

Annual Skate is an energy hand cannon with Outlaw and is pretty good.

Uriel's Gift and The Number (from FWC) are top-tier 450RPM energy auto rifles.

Manannan SR4 is a great energy scout rifle w/explosive payload.

I'm not a huge fan of sidearms, but I know Last Hope is well-liked by the community.

Edit: I should really refresh the page before posting. I was sloooooooow.

I'm debating grinding up the 600 tokens again so I have them banked for the next faction event. I can only assume there won't be a method as easy for the next faction event. However, here's hoping that Bungie doesn't change to a new token for season 2.

My go to PvE energy weapon has been a Martyr's Make auto rifle. It's a 600rpm instead of 450rpm but it has a 49 round magazine, high impact reserves, and higher sim assist and stability than Uriel's Gift and The Number.

Functionally they're almost identical. The delayed explosion is only delayed like, a 10th of a second? For all I can tell, they might as well be identical. They both share the same lack of damage fall off over distance.
