OMG fuck this stupid Iron Banner challenge. This game is stupidly finicky about what a "killing someone with a precision hit" is in PvP it seems
Shoot them in the head.
You'd think so, and yet.
Are you using weapons with explosive rounds?
Yes? Is that bad?
A little, explosive rounds do both precision damage and regular damage on precision hit.
It isn't 100% known which order the damages are applied, especially in a PVP environment. But it seems like the regular damage can occasionally be the one that counts for the kill.
Precision kills are a commonplace if you are using regular bullets
OMG. I've been running around with Better Devils all day cause it's my PvP go-to. This explains so much. Thank you!

Same here, I was running Antiope/Mananaphone and was never getting the long-range precision kills on the Manananananan!
You are right, Saladin... Just enough to complete the challenges. Never more than that in Destiny 2. I remember running chains of 15-20 matches a night in IB. Really felt the bottom drop out in my interest when I had to play one more match just for 4 headshots... hint: it was ugly. Also, it's kind of annoying that you can get so little time to drop out of queues between matches at times. Like, you're holding Y at the end of the match but there's not enough time to drop then and then >boop< new match.
Did enough for 3 packages on Titan and Warlock each. Got the titan helmet (she's at 2/5 now) and the gloves on the warlock (also at 2/5). This turned out better than I thought.

Dang, I'm at something like 30 or 40 Iron Banner matches over the last two days and I'm getting on to play some more.
Only modes I'm liking in D2 is Trials, Control and Clash. But if I'm doing any of those I'd prefer to run in a group I know, and it's harder to get folks hype for non-Trials PvP usually. I just knock out my challenges and log off.

I do! I love it! In fact, I thoroughly enjoy the game as a whole, which sadly (and in most cases justifiably) seems to be the minority around here. You should add me if you’re on PC!

Soon as I hit 20 on a character (tomorrow maybe?... hopefully?), I'm down for peeveepee any time I'm on.
I know a lot of people have been complaining about the token system....but it seems exactly the same the D1 rep system just with a different name.
It's not though. For example, Iron Banner had random end game drops as well as the rankups. They also sold gear through the vendor. They also had guaranteed drops at specific ranks. I also can't even see what my rank is without a third party app. It's not just that tokens replaced rep, they replaced just about all rewards. It feels a lot less exciting to spend an hour do X just for a pocket full of Chuck E Cheese tokens that'll probably still give me nothing exciting.
Well, it doesn't matter what rank you are unless it's Faction Rally because rank is meaningless. There's no benefits to it.
I think the token system on it's own isn't the problem imo, the problem is the lack of ability to directly buy items on top of it. If you had both I think it would be fine.
some sort of weighted RNG so that you don't get the same item 10 times in a row off 10 turn-ins you spent hours accruing the tokens for would be nice as well
I think this is the part that frustrates me.
Destiny 1 had this... you weren't guaranteed unique drops each time, but the rng was at least weighted to give you new stuff instead of dupes.
I hope they reimplement this sooner rather than later.
In D1 I spent real money on Dawning boxes and got the full Dawning armor set for my Hunter in like 7 or 8 boxes
I would never spend money on D2 boxes with the current complete RNG
I didn't mind spending cash in the D1 store cuz some of the drops were super cool... unique seasonal sparrows, etc.... D2 eververse though, I tossed $20 at it and it was just shaders, mods, an exotic sparrow with a garbage perk and a piece or two of optimacy gear :bigfrown:
The fact that the Ghost and Sparrows you get have fucking random perks really kills any desire to buy them for the most part.
I considered buying one the other day and noticed that and said haha fuck that
My only complaint about PvP in general is that the guns apparently shoot cottonballs, 3-4 headshots for a kill is ?????. But I never played Halo, only CS, so maybe Halo based FPSes are just inherently slower.
Trials for example is great, you have a group of organized people working in tandem for callouts, teamfire, etc. That all goes out the window in the quickplay modes though since there's no communication. I have no idea if I can trust anyone to watch a flank, help me push on someone, or coordinate peeks. The games rapidly become people running around the map alone and getting picked off, followed by getting spawn camped by power ammo and supers. Like swords are OP in quickplay, not because they are inherently more powerful than other power weapons, but because they prey upon disorganized people that aren't team firing.
I can only take so much of it before I just resort to padding KDA instead of trying to win.
Swords are bullshit OP in the Quickplay madness I deal with any time I PvP. Basically if the guy sees you and you aren't like half way across the map, you are dead. They can just run right at you and kill you. The only way to deal with it is multiple people focus firing them down and that's basically pure luck in PUG mode.

Thanks for the raid emblem PC clan, you guys got me a rad 305 rocket launcher I'm gonna be blasting things with for awhile.
The longest optimal TTKs in D1 were a second, and the rest were all faster than that, the fastest being 0.67 seconds from the high-impact pulse rifle archetype.

Raid bros got me and Mugio both the auto rifle. We like auto rifles.
Also, we finished up the quest finally and both have Leeloo Multipass. Are we supposed to use the Minipass with it too, or just only the MIDA?
The Miniplex and Multigrass make a strong combo in PvP (at least, they do on console) but no, you don't need to use both. If you do then the miniplast gets the multiplan's movement speed boost.
another bunch of weapons i already have and no armor pieces
fuck this bullshit rewards system
There's also the fact that this is an MMO and the second in a series. Both can contribute to an older playerbase than other multiplayer games now with the MMO in decline and people tend to grow less enthusiastic about PvP as they get older. Not all of course and not all forms of it equally, but jumping in solo especially loses even more appeal.
I was saying to myself "Man I suck at PvP but I liked IB in Destiny 1" then I went 4 where I had the most kills and I got all 3 challenges done!
When does the first "season" end? Because I like this armor a lot
Season 1 ends when the first DLC, Curse of Osiris, come out on... I think it was december 5th? This is the last IB of season 1. However, I think there was something about the season 1 armors not actually becoming unavailable, but instead the season 2 armors would be ornaments that you can apply to the armors we already have that would change their appearance. I'm not certain I'm remembering that correctly, and even if I remembered the ornament part right they might only be doing that for the faction armors, not the IB armors.
I saw 'get 5 kills in one life' and just didn't bother playing today at all.
How much time do they actually expect people to put into challenges, and at what rate do they think 5 kills in one life happens to the average pub player?

Well I got it with a double grenade kill followed by some assists, I was lucky though. I also got 4 at a time once with my ultimate, again though it was luck/my enemy was dumb

There's a couple reasons it's easier than it sounds. For one, it's defeat five opponents, not kill five opponents. So laming it out a bit with teamfire such that you're contributing damage to the targets but maybe ducking back into cover a bit earlier than you normally would does a pretty good job of getting progress on that. Getting your hands on heavy weapons and using them with some caution is also a fairly easy way to get a few kills on any particular streak, and this same thing applies to your supers. So if you're having trouble with the challenge, just do stuff like teamfire for three or four enemies defeated on a streak, and then get an easy single kill or maybe a double with your super. Or play a bit lame when you get heavy to make sure you can get the most out of it and get a good start on your streak, and then rely on teamfiring or your super to get the rest of the way.

I didn't know it counted assists, whoops. I just assumed, because there are some awful challenges that kind of ruin matches.
I got lucky on the precision shot one. I tend to start shooting near the torso and start shooting up and my pulse rifle just kept ending on a headshot. One I got while the guy was jumping by complete accident. I just assumed I wouldn't get those challenges done
So I think I've seen people lamenting the trouble they've been having with the RNG in not getting a Häkke rocket launcher, as those have tracking. It seems like the adventure on titan... bah, I wasn't paying attention to the name. But it's the one with its beacon in the Rig area closest to the arcology, with a description talking about a Knight with a strange aura, and it seems to give a blue rocket launcher identical to the Morrigan-D legendary Häkke rocket launcher. So if you're having trouble getting one of those, go check that out.
I got the quest to get that cool shotgun that requires you to raid, and one that I need to decrypt an exotic engram for, I think the little hidden gun quests are my favorite part of Destiny

e: The adventure name is Deathless.
My issue is, if it's not a progression-based MMO, what is it? Right now it kinda feels like jack of all trades, master of none.
are there any active Ps4 players here? I rolled a warlock (have a 305 titan) and wanna get him up to speed or just play some strikes/IB/NF/raids
