Thanks to to guys above for the promo codes and tip about all the free swag for having Amazon Prime. Now that I have a legit Prime frame and good weapons (Soma Prime and the big fuck off axe Scindo Prime) should I skip a lot of the initial crafting advice for noobs (Boltor, Braton, etc) and save my resources for some other things?

Not really, because you'll still want to accrue Mastery, and as such it'll be useful to just always be leveling new weapons. And a lot of those crap weapons (like all the MK-1s) are cheap to build and at least functional while doing the low-level content. That said, Frost Prime really lets you lean on his powers and durability to not even really worry about using guns.

Ha. :) Yep. Those are just trade-offs you can make if you want to tackle higher level enemies. Efficient is one of those words that means nothing without context. See also: Brewster's Millions

Ah, if I just wanna KILL the things, I break out Inaros/Nidus, the Kulstar of Stupidity, and a thoroughly-formaed Hek. That's boring though.

As soon as I come up with the credits, I will have a nyx.

Is there a way to get plat without real money, because I might be running out of slots pretty quick.

You can trade for plat with other players

The most straightforward way to do this is to get prime parts and mods that other people don't have and trade them to people who want them for plat

You get mods as drops or rewards from certain types of missions, and you get prime parts by using void relics to run them (there should be a tutorial or quest based around getting the void relic segment for your orbiter)

With Baro coming up this weekend, there should be a lot of people offering plat for junk prime parts or BPs.

It won't be much - maybe 5-7p for 5 common tier parts - but it adds up, and you only need 12-20 anyway for slots, depending on what you need slots for.

Just remember you have to be at least MR 2 to trade, and your trades per day is limited by mastery level.

There might be enough for MR 25 with the Zaws? I'm more curious to know what happens when they have enough base XP for MR 30, though that will probably take years..

edit: WF Wiki says there is 1,563,669 Mastery (with exclusive content) available, and 25 requires 1,562,500, so at least on PC it should be. Assuming you own everything.

When you have some playing time available, try and find a solid "endless" group to join. These will often give you relics (Lith A1, Meso A1 etc). Once you have some relics, run some relic missions. These are found in the navigation shortcut drop down thingy, under the spiral flame looking icon. Each relic will offer up one of the 5(?) items listed at the end of the missions/wave, and if you have 4 people each wit ha relic, everyone gets to pick one item out of the 4 presented (everyones relic "opens" for all the players). This is how you eventually start getting Prime's in game, but for now just pick w/e one is Gold, or if no Golds are available, Silver. If they are all Bronze, just grab w/e. Or the Forma BP (there is almost always a Forma BP). Then you can sell bulk Prime parts for enough Plat to pick up a couple of slots.

sometimes a fissure you complete don't refresh until you do another one so you hop back in and just get it done? though you should be able to "last mission" back. But I've seen the UI do that to me from time to time when I run captures back to back even when there's time left.

also sometimes you start something but don't have the time to do it forever, etc...?

I'm really sure how to parse the first thing — are you saying that sometimes folks do a Capture fissure and then have to jump into a different type of fissure before they can do the Capture fissure again?

As to the other bit, I'm not asking why folks don't want to do things forever. I very earnestly thought there could be a semi-obscure "that's Warframe!" kind of explanation. Like I get why people just want to do single rotation of the various Dark Sectors, and I wondered if there was something similar at play with regards to fissures.

Most people will be in a clan, so you can always visit their clan dojo. However, we have clans (or are part of clans) on all three platforms, so we have you covered there.

It's not immediately apparent, but you can buy the blueprints (using credits) for almost every weapon via the in-game market. I can't remember how many weapon slots you start with, but keeping an open slot for leveling random weapons that you then discard is a good initial means of maintaining Mastery progress.

Congrats on getting to Jupiter. That's the first planet where you can get Neural Sensors, so you've got all the basic rare resources unlocked.

Also congrats on Frost. He's a great defensive frame. The strength of 3 is linked to armor, so you may want to put Steel Fiber on. Sometimes globes get in the way, so shoot them with 1 (Freeze) from the outside to detonate them.

Hek is an amazing weapon for mastery rank 4, but there's almost no way someone at mastery rank 4 has the mods. Let us know what platform you're on and your in game name and we'll get you a clan invite. We'll get you set up as best we're able.

    Random noob stuff:
    • You can go to the market console on the right side of the cockpit and redeem code FN6B-8RML-MLH6-GM2N to get a free sniper rifle and FREESWORD which does what it says.
    • If you have Twitch Prime you can get a free Frost Prime, Soma Prime, and Scindo Prime until Dec. 31. You have to link your Twitch account to your Warframe account, so it's not effort free, but Soma Prime is a really good gun and relatively hard to get in game.
    • Taxon is a nice shield buffing Sentinel starting out. You can get the blueprint from the market. Also Vacuum is civilization.
    • Once you feel like you're strong enough, try to do four rotations of the endless mission types. There are some important mods (Continuity, Intensify, Stretch) you may never see if you just do one rotation to unlock the map node and bail. Plus you'll get relics.
