AP Calls Alabama Senate Race for Doug Jones, Democrat
I don't really disagree. Trump being horrible isn't some surprise that happened after the election. The general public knew what they were getting, and they voted him in.
You want a man with no shame to resign out of shame? Good luck with that.
It's not about thinking you can actually get Trump to resign. The goal is to make it clear that the party will view sexual assault as unacceptable at any level. Elections don't excuse crimes.
How exactly is the president being a self admitted sexual predator not a real issue? Especially when our society is such that enough people were willing to overlook it or give him a pass to vote him into office.

Well that is a terrible goal then, because it's patently false. The only reason the Republicans aren't launching back into "locker room" whatever excuses, is because Democrats are resigning over it and giving away their power when the margins are tight.
Yeah, that's not a good look from him. It's almost but not quite like he's trying to position himself to at least not alienate conservative Alabama. But the statement about 'issues that face us today' with, seemingly, no follow up is just empty politicianing.
Some things are more important than political calculations. Sexual assault is a morally clear cut issue to me and listening to my parties elected officials blow it off like this is disheartening. Especially when it's somebody who, like Jones, just received a massive amount of national attention.
Things like this send a message that can really discourage people from getting involved in the political process. No matter what the actual differences between the parties is on this issue and policy, people will see these statements and think nobody is on their side.
Getting re-elected was already going to be a long shot for Jones and this actively hurts him. Especially when you look at how a main pillar of his support was women, black women in particular.

Do not engage the Watermelons.

If there are noteworthy shenanigans with the certification of the election a thread specific to that topic could be made.
Geth, close the thread.
