Remembering Tua desperately wanted to go to Oregon and feeling very lucky for my Huskies.

Sucks for Rodrigo tonight. Dude was a boss.

Rumors were flying last week that Tua wanted to transfer and his preferred destination was UCLA.

    I liked those 5 minutes.

Man that final sequence turned on it's head so fast I think I got whiplash. Said out loud "That's game" after the sack and stood up to grab a drink.

That was not in fact, game. The balls on that true freshman after taking a horrible sack, OT, national title on the line that you didn't even fuckin start to just pop back up and go "lol watch this" is a terrifying level of confidence.

Tua did well tonight but if he keeps building on what he did here he's gonna be a monster next year.

Yeah but we're back in it thankfully with this recruiting class.

But seriously, I believed in the blue-chip-ratio before, Tua is just the perfect example of it. And...idk how it makes me feel about CFB right now

I was really hoping for not Alabama, but maybe this forces a play off expansion. It sure did last time this scenario played out. Nothing against Alabama itself mind you, but I am a little tired of the same team winning every year. I am similarly worn out by the teams that make the play offs or come close though so I don't really know what would work to make me more interested besides expanding to more teams. Here's to hoping UCF keeps chugging along for a little bit and gets some recognition.

G5 has a lot of the most interesting actual football going on. P5 is starting to feel a hell of a lot like the NFL to me now in terms of playcalling

Cutcliffe was talking about this on the Coaches Film Room and I thought it was crazy that Kirby Smart, WHO WAS THE FUCKING DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR UNDER NICK SABAN, couldn't figure out that Alabama would go to a base offense with a new QB under center and thus you'd have some ideas of how to stop him.

At this point I'm just convinced that all of Saban's assistants just forget how to coach whenever they play him.

This thread is full of people saying that Alabama sucks and doesn’t deserve this, after an insane game where the team was behind until 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter and a true freshman put on an amazing performance.

But no Alabama fans are the problem for being happy

All the news today is about tua, and he absolutely deserves it, but I truly hope this does not turn into jalen transferring out. I don’t see why we can’t turn this into a true dual qb situation with a phenomenal athlete runner in hurts and a passing superstar with tua. Tua can’t run like hurts, and his mistakes are different than hurts’ as well.

Maybe hurts will never transition to a can do it all nfl caliber qb but that doesn’t mean he’s not a great player.

If any team could dual QB successfully, it's this one. Jalen and Tua are actually very similar QBs - they're both scramblers (Tua's more slippery while Jalen powers through) with beastly arm-cannons.

The difference is that Jalen plays safe football. He doesn't throw into coverage, even if it's single and his receiver is better. I don't know if it's lack of confidence in the receiver, himself, or just conservative play, but his style is consistent. He scans for an open receiver, and if there's not one, he scrambles. That usually works. Tight defenses like Georgia's and Auburn's can put a stop to all that, though.

Tua, on the other hand, takes chances. He'll give his receiver a shot, and he'll often put the ball right where it needs to be to let the guy make the play. But that's riskier football; it's more interception-prone by far, and that's double risky when your QB is young and maybe not making the best decisions quite yet.

Both QBs can essentially run the same packages. You don't need two separate offensive styles. You just use the QB that fits the game better. If you can lean on your defense and grind through their line, or if their pass coverage is mediocre, you play Hurts. If you're forced into the air against pretty good pass coverage, you play Tagovailoa.

    Y'all

Know what school has run basically two QBs every year since 2010?

    Texas.

    Know what school currently sucks?

    Texas.

Also I don't know why there's any question. Tua made reads and throws like an NFL pro last night. That dude is supposed to be a dual threat QB but he's absolutely stunning in the pocket. Maybe Bama's OLine helped out by giving him time to make throws, but by god Tua was stunning

My favorite thing is people boasting about how much adversity Alabama overcame to win the title

    Come on

Their win was incredibly impressive, but they're still the bluest of blue bloods, with spectacular amounts of cash to throw around. Teams have to stop acting like they're huge underdogs when they're blue bloods.

the adversity they overcame was the injuries. I'm not going to act like alabama has rough sledding in normal times but they had seven starting linebackers out during the season, with only 2 coming back. We lost two starting OL, one before the game and one during. During the season our starting RB Jacobs was out with a hamstring injury.

Like, we lost to Auburn because we were fielding half of a team. Clemson was us at the healthiest we had been, which was still missing 4 starting linebackers and having Miller, FItzpatrick, and Wilson back. Then someone sat on Fitzpatrick's kidney.

So, yeah, it was a pretty hard season and the only reason it wasn't completely lost is because Alabama has a ton of blue chips - but that doesn't make it easy to lose all of your upperclass defensive line.
