I’m sure I could play more efficiently, but I’m really digging running around with fire shooting from my left hand and a conjured sword in my right. Big fights take some more prep, but otherwise it’s just firebolt firebolt firebolt, slash to fill a soul gem.
In Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon, if you manage to transfer a Pokemon into the game from Pokemon Gold/Silver and then talk to the guy in the Game Freak building, this is what he'll say:
Boy, when we were told halfway through development to make Kanto, too... I thought I might just expire on the spot! But I'm glad we made it that way.
When we were having trouble fitting all the data in for Gold and Silver, and we were really in a pinch, this amazing guy came along and made a program for us that solved all our problems. He went on to become the amazing president of a real big company soon after that, too.

It was mentioned in the Pokemon thread. No one mentioned it here because it has little to do with the Switch

The Pokemon thread or the 3DS thread in this particular case, although I agree that there's a sort of grey area of general Nintendo news that doesn't really have a place to go on this board, might as well be here (with mod permission of course).
Yes, there will be many anime tropes. Probably not as bad as many JRPGs, but I wouldn't go in expecting there not to be, especially considering the preview material we've seen so far. If that's alright with you, there seems to be an extremely solid game and story under it.
Eh, every preview that has come out says it's real good. Can't say I agree with all of the design decisions but damn straight do I already have the game preloaded.
Yeah, the anime quotient is cranked up to 11, but every early preview/review says it's a good game, one that is a fitting successor to the original XBC in its own way. The latest, just released story trailer is pretty interesting:
I can’t play Skyrim without the ability to fix everything wrong with it.
Notably making magic scale better so destruction isn’t a waste of your points and time.
Destruction does have a valid use - free perk points for some other skill.
I'm enjoying Destruction well enough. But I'm only level 15 and will probably get tired of Skyrim and move on the way I always do before scaling becomes an issue.

It has 32Gb internal. Plenty for save games and indie titles.
That said certain retail releases already require more then that (NBA for example). The Switch takes micro sd so if you want to go digital yeah it's probably worth picking up a 128 Gb card.
RMA'd my Switch and dock for a flickering video (while docked) issue and my left joycon (finally) because it was a launch left joycon.
Joycon came back fixed (or possibly replaced). Switch came back completely replaced (with all of my profile and save data transferred to the new unit, thankfully). Dock... I think is the same dock.
Video flickering IMMEDIATELY occurred again when I plugged everything back in and turned it all on. I had read a couple of troubleshooting threads on the web regarding consoles not getting along with each other - while my Switch was in the shop - and I noticed/remembered that my PS4 was on while this flickering was occurring. Turned off the TV, turned off the PS4, turned on the TV, turned on the Switch... no Switch flicker.
Didn't have a single instance of video-black-screen/flicker over Thanksgiving weekend (and I logged a ton of Switch time) - simply by making sure that my PS4 and Switch weren't on at the same time and/or making sure to cycle my TV power when switching consoles. It's a minor annoyance (cycling the TV takes about 10 seconds), but it's also an easy fix. If I want to watch TV (through PS Vue) while playing Switch, I'm playing Switch in handheld mode, so I never need to have my Switch docked-for-play and my PS4 on at the same time.
When I'm playing Switch or streaming and I switch to my PS4 input, I get some weird green lines on the screen and have to cycle the TV power, so... yeah, I think there's an issue (or a few) with my TV. But it would be way too much of a hassle to RMA, so in the meantime, I'm just happy that I can avoid the problem by taking a few extra steps.
Pretty surprising they'd go out of their way to spotlight it given NIS generally had nothing but disdain for Nintendo platforms as far as Disgaea goes. One butchered port of the first one on the DS almost a decade ago was as much as Nintendo ever got with it. I guess they really want to get the Switch library highlighted.
I dunno if it's disdain but more like the standard gripe of "not powerful enough for our games". There's supposedly never going to be a Vita port of 4 because the system can't handle it. Like really, Disgaea 4 is too much for the Vita? But if it's true, then I guess I can see why any of them came out for the Wii. And the Wii U, well then you can tack on install base issues as well.
edit: Err wait, there is a Vita port of 4. :P I might be thinking of 5 then.
The Wolfman on
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
The DS maybe, but I think the 3DS and the Wii and the Wii U could have handled any of the Disgaeas just fine, especially given NIS' propensity for rereleasing Disgaea any chance it gets. The fact that no Nintendo platform in close to a decade received any other Disgaea title is telling. I struggle to find what's so technically advanced about any given Disgaea that the Wii or Wii U couldn't handle any of them - maybe NIS is just terrible at optimization

You are. The Vita port of 4 plays just fine.
Actually, 5 is the first one I ever played the original release of (having played handheld ports of 1, 2, and 4 previously)
Everybody keeps hating on XC2 for the anime style. To me it looks pretty similar in style to a Tales game. Don't really see anything wrong with that.
That's exactly the primary reason I dislike it - it was doing fine with its own style without the doe-eyed boobservice that already plagues anime as it is.
It's part of a larger lockstep shift into template aniweeb that more and more anime artists are moving towards because pandering to the worst elements of otaku culture is usually a much more effective cashgrab than trying to explore interesting and new aesthetics.
Yah, I cleared the story in Battle Chef Brigade. That was a fun romp for $20. And there's a bit more gameplay to be had, with the daily cookoff thing, a challenge mode or two, and the option of hard-mode story.
I'd like for them to make another game in this series; there's more to the story that they could explore, and the characters are fun.

I think that's something that has spread to far more than just otaku bait crap. nowadays if you want your art to be noticed you want it to be either cute, or sexy, or both.
disgaea 5 couldn't run on the vita, which is why it ended up on switch.

I mean technically turning the difficulty down so destruction is more useful works as well. It's kind of an inbuilt mod for me.
I dunno I've played every bethesda game since morrowind only on consoles and never really had any major trouble. Just make lots of saves as a habit and you're usually fine with most things. The idea that their games are broken without mods has always never been my experience. Although I think skyrim was bad on PS3 for glitches, so my caveat is that I only played it on 360

It literally fell out of my coat pocket a couple of weeks ago and slid, screen down, across a bar floor. Works fine, no scratches, don’t give a shit.

Honestly, destruction scaling is the one glaring issue with the game's base balance. All the other issues tend towards "player becomes OP".

No no it has more uses!
The elemental perks in the Destruction tree also affect elemental enchantments, making your weapon combat stronger too!
I see they've opted for the "Senran Kagura" wardrobe too. I think if I'm looking to get into the series Chronicles X is probably the one.

There is one spell that scales pretty well as you invest in perks and remains effective at endgame. You will need to explore the island of Solstheim in the Dragonborn expansion to get it (which you might want to do anyway because Dragonborn is great).

IMHO, that isn't even the best song in Mario Odyssey.

I'm sick of the sexy outfits more than any general style shift, plus the way that some cutscene and artwork go "lookit the boobs!"
Combined with the inability to change outfits for the first time in the series.
Everyone has a different threshold for how much weeb they can handle.
But they merely adopted the weeb. I was born in it. Molded by it.
