Has anyone seen Wonder? I saw a trailer for it today and thought hey it's really cool that they used a young actor with a facial abnormality, and then I found out it was prosthetics because duh of course it is, and now feel very apathetic about the whole thing.

I'm uncomfortable with the anti-semetic propaganda getting spread around. The one with Harvey Weinstein grabbing Emma Watson in particular keeps popping up.
I watch a lot of Siskel & Ebert stuff even still, I love it, whenever I watch a movie released during their careers the first thing I do is look for reviews from them individually and together
Somehow I've never seen this, and I've also never seen them interrupt each other to say more positive things, these dudes lost their dang minds over Fargo

I just watched Captain America Civil War. I liked it but it was also kind of ridiculous.
The big epic fight at the airport was fun to watch but I couldn't help feeling like it was really dumb. Like let's all meet up and smack each other around but we don't actually really want to hurt each other and also Ant Man is here for some reason? Like he apparently just agreed to help a bunch of superpeople fight another bunch of superpeople because... he was drunk or something? I dunno.
I really liked the new Spider Man and now I want to watch Homecoming. Also it made me like Tony more and Steve less. I don't know if that's how I'm supposed to feel.
Also today I went to the cinema with my parents to see Paddington 2, having never seen Paddington 1. I enjoyed it. Arguably the best charming British film about a bear of 2017!
You dont say no to captain america.
I really love this movie and the airport fight. Its the most comicbooks thing and yet I think it really hangs together well. Spider-man and Antman could have been pointless cameos but I felt the movie justifies their existence well and also show just how lost Tony and Cap have become. Tony shouldnt have gotten a 15 year-old rookie involved and neither should Cap have gone to a felon trying to go straight with a kid. Cap knew people wouldnt say no to him and he still asked.
I feel pretty comfortable just saying rich people at his point. I don't think this is a race thing at all.
Edit: of course there's a lot more white people in these positions of power and that is due to racism.
Technically speaking this probably doesn’t have much to do with men either. But white men predominately have the power in society and because of that by a wide margin are the ones abusing that power so I’m OK with saying that the problem is with white man.
The happenstance is that the abusers have mainly been white males in the larger category of "people in positions of power."
Mariah Carrey, George Takei, and Bill Cosby don't fit that description. I'm not making a comment on there being some giant coincidence that people in power tend to be white males.

I think everyone here agrees that your goodness/evilness depends on how you perceive race/sex rather than what your race or sex actually is

I have absolutely no idea what Three Billboards is outside of that it is a movie with Frances McDormand in it and I hope to maintain this ignorance until I see it
I watched colossal on the plane. It was extremely good. Whichever lunatic thought it should be filed under 'comedy' should probably take some personal days.
lady bird looks like a movie scientifically designed for me to hate it so be glad i don't review movies
I would honestly recommend you try it when it comes out on VOD
It's very good at portraying differences in class, loving but strained family relationships, and stupid, stupid teens
It can get pretty twee but it's also good at deflating that, basically the rest of Lady Bird's family is there to constantly go "can you just fuckin' chill" and she's not portrayed as this amazing breakout star who deserves so much better, she's just kind of a bratty kid
It's not like a Wes Anderson movie where it's just aggressively THAT, it's much more down to earth
And some of the shitty teens they portray are just so good

White people are definitely a problem too--sometimes in ways that intersect with wealth and sometimes in ways that don't.
the memo is pretty ridiculous because he basically says "sorry for being a hugger, guys, I guess no one likes my hugs or whatever"

What I'd give to talk to that dude about Ozu.
I don't plan to see it. Here's a POV from a writer with a craniofacial disorder.
I have looked into the future where this is 100% definitely certainly a better Best Picture lineup than the Oscars will be

They dont "happen" to be mostly male and white
Yeah. They no more happened to be in power than someone who cheats at poker happens to have a four-of-a-kind.

The local theater is finally getting Three Billboards this week
My Thanksgiving plans are set
Lady Bird is officially one of them
Steam
Man On Wire and Toy Story 2
Steam
Well I certainly hope I end up liking Lady Bird more than these two
That contrarian guy got to it first which is also why Toy Story 3 doesnt share that honor.
I didn't know UV was reviewing movies. 8-)
Me too, but I unexpectedly really liked Frances Ha, so I'll give it a shot.
I also watched the big sick, which was cute.

Think i'm gonna watch this
This will be here until I receive an apology or Weedlordvegeta get any consequences for being a bully
colossal is very funny.
until it isn't.
I mean it wasn't unfunny! But just because it had moments of comedy I don't think I'd call it a comedy,
The same genius also cross-filed it under action, which, no.
I would honestly recommend you try it when it comes out on VOD
