What ever happened to old fashioned trap doors that dropped people into shark tanks?

“His office was in a secluded space, and he had a button under his desk that allowed him to lock his door from the inside without getting up. This afforded him the assurance of privacy. It allowed him to welcome female employees and initiate inappropriate contact while knowing nobody could walk in on him, according to two women who were sexually harassed by Lauer.”

Why is my vision tinted red, and my hands shaking? How do I stop my jaw clenching so tight my teeth hurt?
Aww, Charlie Brooker says no 2017 Wipe, I quite like those
Whilst yes, that is sad news, I'm not sure I'd actually want to watch a 2017 Wipe.
The 2016 Wipe was depressing and terrifying enough, I don't even want to know how badly I would wish I were dead after watching a 2017 Wipe.
2017 Wipe would just be Brooker staring into the camera while the studio burns down around him.
This is pretty much what I thought.
I am greatly looking forward to Cunk on the History of Britain. (From the big bang to present day in five half hour parts) Which was apparently handed in for scheduling earlier in the week.

Philomena Cunk is the best new character on television in the last decade, I'm glad they made a show for her.
I must say, syfy *cringe* has done some good work these past few years with shows like The Expanse, Killjoys, Dark Matter, etc.
(though like always, syfy cancels shit too soon!)
I found out about this upcoming show randomly browsing the internet: Happy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4gFlDn6c0c
Looks to be ok by the material, lets hope the writing holds up.

speaking of american gods--has anyone else ever had an issue with the sound (mixing...??) when watching amazon prime? I have a tv that's 8 or 9 years old now but has never giving me speaker issues or anything, and a handful of shows on amazon prime have had this really weirdly resonant and loud mid/low end
it was at its worst during american gods due since the score has all those buzzing menacing synths and feedbacky bits, but like i almost couldn't tell what the characters were saying for an entire conversation at easter's house because of some extremely loud droning ambience
i feel like this issue must be some very specific confluence of tv and i guess streaming service (netflix and hbo go through my xbox haven't ever done this) but i figured I'd mention it on the off chance someone else had experienced it

I'm pretty sure I've heard of other people having issues with Prime's mixes sometimes. Something to do with when the stream goes HD it also enables 5.1 sound mix regardless of whether your system is configured for it?

Yeah, I've had that happen to me before. Check your audio settings and see if you can fix it there.
I am! Last night's two-parter was a whole lot of fun
I'm really pleasantly surprised by how many smart, ambitious players are still in the mix. Lauren, Ben, Devon, and Ashley are all a lot of fun; they're each that rare type that's clever and scheming, without feeling like total assholes (i.e., Ryan and Chrissy). That all four of them are working together, in some fun and unexpected ways, has been great. I definitely expected the complicated "Ben the double-agent" plan, and targeting JP instead of Ryan, to go sideways. That both things have worked out gangbusters is crazy (in a good, exciting way).
Personally, I'm rooting for Lauren to win. I like her a whole lot. But I'd honestly be fine with anybody but Ryan/Chrissy winning - and luckily, they seem to be universally reviled, so it looks like I'll be pretty happy however this shakes out.

Future Man is all right but watching Eliza Coupe slowly turn back into Jane Kerkovich or maybe Denise from Scrubs near the end of the season in terms of affect and dialogue is weird.

Awesome!
We're pretty much on the same page. I really like Lauren and I hope she wins but pretty much anybody but Chrissy is fine by me (now that Joe's gone). Truthfully I think it would take a lot of activity to get Chrissy the votes to win at this point - she hasn't really made any moves so far that are visible enough for her to get the jury I don't think.
The Ben thing played out spectacularly and his reaction to getting the idol was just pure joy. I can't wait for the loved ones visit next week and seeing where it progresses. I'm actually relieved it's turned out well, I thought the pre-merge episodes were some of the weakest in recent memory.

it's a pity he decided to do the show exactly like hannibal, not realising that american gods is in fact different to hannibal
