All the DLC characters (Oswald, Heidern, Najd and Blue Mary (woo!)) will drop on April 12th. SNK Heroines reveals are also expected this week.
Well, this is a surprise. I doubt it'll be switching from KOFXIII even with this, but still...surprising.
Any chance you play xiii on steam?
Only when visiting a friend of mine who actually has it on Steam (I don't know anyone else who does ), sorry. Everyone else I know (which admittedly isn't a lot) plays it on XBL--but increasingly we just play older titles on MAME or console local.

Too bad. Steam version has the best net code for me by far.

To be honest, I haven't had that experience either, but it's not like my standards are incredibly precise either.
It's definitely not the most terrible PC port of a 2D fighter I've ever played, but I didn't come out of it saying, "Gee whiz, I need to buy KOFXIII AND KOFXIV on PC now!" either.
I haven't quite figured out if I'm on vt1 or 2, but the cancel combos of 2 feel great.
Things I still haven't worked out:
What does she use ex meter on? EX vault kick only gets you an extra ~50dmg, but the corner carry might be worth it. Is her meter better saved for super?
What's her answer to cross ups? Air to air? Block and deal?
Does she have any shenanigans with her dive kick? I've just been using it for repositioning.
I've seen a couple videos on YouTube from some fighting game channels that seem to think MK XI is for sure going to be announced at E3. Has NRS been dropping hints or something? I am down for new Mortal Kombat, especially if they keep the gear stuff from Injustice 2.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
It'd be time for a new MK. MKX did well enough on sales, didn't it?
The story that NRS puts into Mortal Kombat might be third-rate comic book schlock, but just the fact that there's actually a really well put-together story in a fighting game at all is so good. Like, how did it take fighting games 25 years to get this kind of thing right?
Sure, fighting games had stories, but they were always localized to the individual fighter or plot of the game, but no interaction or real big connection between the fights and certainly little to no connection between sequels of the games.
Plus, I'm a sucker to see the character roster get built for an MK game. The reboot of IX was the single best thing MK had happen to it for anyone who used to care about the series before it went to pot around MK5.
I think some schmuck named Siegfried also got revealed, but whatever.

I like how they are implementing the little story things the series had into the characters in SC6. Kilik having his possessed form and Taki having a CE that uses her Soul Edge shard dagger.
The Japanese gaming company on Wednesday announced the Neo Geo Mini, its very own retro gaming console.
Like the Classics before it, the Neo Geo Mini comes with dozens of games preloaded -- 40 of them in this case. What all of those will be have yet to be announced. Based on the promotional material, though, games like Metal Slug, Samurai Showdown and King of Fighters, a franchise that still rocks on today, will be included.
Unlike Nintendo's retro consoles, though, the Neo Geo Mini comes with an in-built screen (3.5 inches), looking exactly like a miniature version of an arcade unit. It's designed to be played in your hands, but can also be hooked up to a TV or monitor via HDMI cable.
The Asia region will get its own white, red and blue model, while the US, Europe, Canada, South America and "other regions" will get a blue, black and white variant (pictured above).
The rumored list of 40 games includes KOF 98, 2002, Fatal Fury Special, Real Bout 2, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Kizuna Encounter, Last Blade 2, Samurai Shodown 2, 4 and V Special. And more!
I'm really, really hoping the emulation on this is solid. If so, this seems like an obvious purchase.
While this seems like a good idea, it doesnt look like it supports a second controller so all those fighting games go to waste.
The side of the cabinet in that picture looks like it has a mysterious port with a gamepad icon. I'm probably not going to get it, but I still hope they aren't complete dummies in any case.
Yeah, there are two controller ports on the sides. They haven't shown off the controllers yet, but they're rumored to be based on the NeoGeo CD controller.

BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is in open beta on PSN and Switch if anyone's interested.
I'm really not a fan of how simplified everything is. Especially feels like an ultra nerf to the BB cast, and none of my mains are in(Elizabeth, Tsubaki).

Izayoi is in the silhouettes, so she should be one of the DLC characters.

Awwwww. They're a good chunk similar.
The 'figured out sillouette' characters not officially revealed yet are...
Izayoi, Nine, and Mai.
Akikihiko, Mitsuru, and Labrys.
Yuzuriha, Merkava, and Mika.
I really hope it does well enough to get a Season 2 or Sequel. I want a lot of the Ultimax cast in, as well as some of the surprisingly missing BB cast like Bang, Litchi, Kagura or personal favorites of mine like Hibiki, Amane, and Taokaka. Plus more RWBY and other guest characters.
Hibiki's hugely popular in Japan and he didn't make it in.
Bang and Litchi didn't make it in either which is surprising.
Persona is just the first game's characters outside of Teddie and Shadow Labrys, which makes me sad because Ultimax had most of the characters I liked.
The UNIST picks have been great, though I'd prefer Wagner or Phonon over Mika.
@ManetherenWolf If you like SF and like Anime, UNIST is the best of both worlds. As far as in general. you have a good start with SFV and T7 and your preorders at least.
Every fighting game is different and we're swimming in lots of good ones right now. Try everything out and see what you like? You'll at the very least always have PA people to play with.
SF and UNIST are footsies.
DBFZs is Marvel 2/3.
BBCross Tag is a weird mix of BB, UNIST links, P4A's auto combos and simple buttons, and MvCi's tag system.
Tekken 7 is footsies and combos.
BlazBlue: Central Fiction and Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 are your anime fighters. BB requires more character knowledge while GG requires better timing execution.
KoF is... well, it's KoF. You can't go wrong with KoF.
I'm not a fan of NeatherRealm fighters so I can't comment, but they have their fans.
There's also Killer Instinct, and the various anime indy fighters.
I'll probably keep an eye on deals for GG or Blazblue, or maybe KoF.
I was mainly prompted to do this for DB Fighterz and knowing that SC6 is coming. I actually bought my first fight stick for SC4 back in the day, so I am super hyped for 6.

I tried it and couldn't really get a feel for the systems due to the limitations of the demo.
Not sure what it feels like to me. Comboing seems to be entirely based on partner actions or one-off cancels into a special.
I think I'm finally getting the hang of a stick in DBFZ (and DBFZ in general). I have no choice, because my thumb is fucked and a stick lets me play without it. I'm using Concept 2 by Tsuntenshi
After watching some tutorials, its become clear that shuffling back and forth is the simplest way to bait a Super Dash for my 2H. I keep messing up my own Super Dash afterwards though.

Are you pressing H or S+H for the super dash follow-up? I was under the impression it had to be S+H, but I get it a lot more consistently now that I'm only using H!

I found out (today, I'm talking like an hour ago) that you only need to press H.
I actually need a footsies tutorial, because I am getting dunked on online.

That's a tough one, because the normals vary so much by character in this game. Yamcha's 2M is so short as to be useless outside of combos, while Beerus can rush down from across the screen!
What team are you running? Also, this is a good question to bring to the Discord.

Haven't had one in awhile, so I havent really been playing too many fighting games.
What would you say the essentials are to have now?
I've got the base game of SFV, and Injustice 2 already, and I just grabbed Tekken 7 too.
Planning on getting DB Fighterz when it goes on sale at some point too, and I preordered Blazblue Cross Tag and SF Anniversary.
any other really good ones Im missing?
If you want a Smash-like, I really enjoy Rivals of Aether. I never got a good handle on Smash itself, but Rivals feels much more fluid to me.
Street fighter and dbz are most popular.
Xrd and kof wont have lots of randoms to play with online but theyre fun and you will find people here that will play them with you.
Unist has been getting love in the pa fighting discord lately and soul calibur is coming soon.
