I still wonderfully appreciate of a lot of the small nods to other classic media about ancient Greek mythology that they sneak into the God of War games, such as Perseus being modeled after(and voiced by) Harry Hamlin and Kevin Sorbo voicing Hercules.

Playstation weekly gave me a 20% off code that expires on the 12th that I checked still works (even on SOTC).

But I don't have anything I'm that interested in at the moment.

Send me a PM if you want it.

At some point PlayStation probably asked you if you wanna receive promotional emails from them

    Most people probably unchecked it

    I checked yes

It's just a natural instinct to immediately click "No, don't fucking e-mail me all the dang time". Maybe they should lead off with "we'll occasionally send you discount codes!". Unless they do... but like, who reads those massive walls of text?

Oh shit, Dynasty Warriors 9 is tomorrow?!

Man, gonna come down to Kingdom Come: Deliverance and DW9 tomorrow. I want both of them to be good... but if they're both good it's gonna be hard to choose which one to buy. No reviews yet on either of them =/

They’ve shown off a lot of gameplay at this point. It seems like they went above and beyond. So much so that Nickelodeon would be dumb not to commission them to make a new Tournament Fighters game.

Yeah the release date was just suddenly announced like 2 weeks ago, given that it’s one of my favourite series it was quite a pleasant surprise.

If you do go for it though, do yourself a favour and switch the Dub to Japanese or Mandarin from the get-go. Due to the VA strike all the English voice actors that we’ve grown to love are gone and their replacements are... not good.

I have sudden concerns about DW9 based solely on a 2 second blurb of Jim Sterling saying "Dynasty Warriors is shit now". I dunno if it has something to do with microtransactions, or the transition to an open world game not going well. I know people don't care for anything Jim says due to his persona, but Dynasty Warriors is his favorite series, and he even thought Warriors All-Stars was OK. If he's saying it's shit, it's making me nervous.

I guess it's a good thing it isn't up for preorder on PSN, because I would've wanted to get it preloaded tonight. Now I'm definitely checking all the reviews tomorrow =/

I'm of two minds about DW9. I sort of want to get it to form my own opinion about the quality of the game.

But fuck if I'm giving Tecmo Koei money because they didn't want to pay union prices, so they got completely non-union VA

Yakuza 0 is the best remote play game I've ever played. At work I do all the minigames like darts, bowling, pocket car racing and that insane telephone club.

The only ones where lag is kind of a problem are disco and karaoke.

Then I get home and can play the actual story and fights on the big screen.

It's the best time I've ever had with remote play.

Main complaints I'm seeing for DW9 are graphical bugs/glitches, framerate issues, and barren open world map. It also sounds like all the character's play basically the same way in combat and don't feel unique anymore. Also a pointless crafting system because every game ever made needs a crafting system.

I dunno, it doesn't sound like shit, but it doesn't sound great either.

I decided to take a gander at Jim's video. From the sounds of things (the first 10 minutes anyways), it sounded like his disdain is almost entirely based on the open-world transition. edit - and the simplicity of the missions (run to fort, grapple hook over the walls, bypass everything and everybody by using the grappling hook, kill the lord/boss, mission complete)

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is getting some OK reviews, but it also sounds on the buggy side. I also see a lot of "This is for the hardcorez" ego stroking and "casual unfriendly" being tossed around. That always sends up a red flag for me, telling me that the game is an asshole.

Hah! Jim's DW9 video is a long one... too long to watch at work. I'm still leaning towards Dynasty Warriors since I can still just wade into massive armies and wreck face which is key to the DW experience. I suppose I could also buy nothing, but I don't have anything to play right now! *throws tarp of massive pile of games*

See, it looks like the thing about DW9 is you're NOT going to just wade into massive armies.

you're gonna spend a good 10 minutes troddling along an empty open world and then I guess there might be like 40 guys in a base.

Giving an announcement of DW9 2 weeks before it's released kinda reeks of KT knowing it's shit and throwing it out to die.

If there was no review copies that also reeks of them trying really hard to get first shipment buys at maximum before people realize how bad it is, ala Andromeda.

Has there ever been another brick and mortar retail game release thrown out there with that little notice? The only other thing that comes to mind is the Sega Saturn, and we all know how that went.

I think the thing with Dynasty Warriors - is that they know their audience and unless they change something drastically that game isn't really widening appeal at all. I figure it's probably about as good as any other Dynasty Warriors game.

I won't lie, when I saw the opening of that Jimpressions video where he climbs up the tower and looks over the big open world, I squeed a little.

But seeing the game in action more, it does seem like the worst kind of open world game: empty and vapid. Where you're traveling 1700 units to the next map marker and there's absolutely nothing but emptiness in between.

His complaints about the gameplay though, I dunno. "Go to the marker, fight the guy, watch everybody then run away". Thing is, if I stop and try to remember Hyrule Warriors... that's exactly what it was. Go to the marker, fight the guy, watch everybody then run away". It's not like there was much nuance than that. Well no, now I remember, it was "Fight the little guys first to make the guy spawn" first.

Yeah, but there being only a handful of different weapons and everyone's signature weapons being removed and generesized is pretty much the opposite of what made DW games good.

as much as that is dynasty warriors, jim sterling is a known Dynasty Warriors Lover so if he complains about something and you think "that's all the games!" it probably means they're not executing on it correctly this time

They are definitely not executing on it correctly this time. DW9 is barely an OK game, and a pretty poor Dynasty Warriors game.

Very dull, none of the cool massive fights and flashy combat that make these games so great. Just mediocrity, and sadness. I didn't want to believe, but DW9 isn't worth buying. I've already deleted it from my PS4... waste of money =/

A lot of reports are cycling now about a Spyro trilogy remaster coming this fall, also done by Vicarious Visions

The Crash remasters were awesome and sold incredibly well, so good on following them up, especially because the first three Spyro games are all excellent (as opposed to Crash, where I can only recommend 2 and 3)

Here's hoping they don't fuck with Stewart Copeland's score, it's one of my favorite in video games
