What are you trying to do exactly? Pivot tables are a fairly broad topic.

Is there any way you can be convinced to watch a video on YouTube? It would cut the process down to like 5 min over maybe a whole day of reading.

Perhaps maybe get someone to show you? Its actually pretty crazy easy to use a PivotTable once you know the first couple of steps. Then its all about practice and application.

Basic familiarity and some good examples, it also needs to be something I can access and use at work where videos are not an option.

OK, well its not so difficult its just something you have to get used to. (I assume you are reasonably competent at basic excel usage?) When you say your looking for something that you can read in a restrictive work environment. Can you use Google?

    Something like this? Or this?

You really just need to get the basics under your belt and then start using it on data that is meaningful to you to start to learn it.

So long as your table is formatted correctly, than the tool is pretty self explanatory... Highlight your table, click on the Insert Tab, click on Pivot table and start playing around.
