So, hit 280 this weekend. My first plan early in the week is to knock out the campaign, and that I need to do weekly milestones. If I want to save the milestones for the end of the week (so I get upgrades when my gear is better), is there anything I should be doing until then that will continue to increase my level?

I'm at 265 (finished main campaign though), so I'm kind of in the same boat. Apparently at this point we're supposed to be going after milestones that give us powerful gear? Sounds like the regular activities cap at around the 265-270 level.
Correct me if I'm wrong, more experienced players.

Do you have the DLC? If so, Rare and Legendary rewards should both take you up to 300. If not, go ahead and open those Powerful rewards.

so before i start dismantling all the armor i think i no longer need to hold on to, i am correct that it appears the armor is always available on the vendors but the weapons rotate out right?

ok that freed up enough space for me to get all the crap out of the postmaster i had to leave there and now i have 7 free spaces in my vault with a full inventory

I got a masterwork Pulse Rifle (Swift ride) the masterwork is +10 handling, but more importantly if I kill two things in a short period or one clip or whatever a multikill is, it drops an orb of light that I can pick up myself for extra super bar. Definitely worth getting a masterwork version.
I️ thought dropping orbs is what all masterworks do?

I tire of the inventory and that's about it right now.
Like, holy hell Bungie, all you have to do is double vault/shader/mod inventories and we literally are problem free on this front for a long damn time. It's not like you don't already have the UI set up for multiple pages.

whoa whoa. let's get them to fix their sort options on it as well, and not rearrange the entire inventory when you pull out 1 item. then we can call it problem free.

but yeah, that i'm having second thoughts about playing at all because i don't want to keep having to constantly juggle my inventory making sophie's choices is really fucking annoying

not even counting how often i have to constantly dismantle useless blues that do me absolutely no good but flood into my inventory just by walking around
Getting rid of armors without ornaments and weapons with grave robber that aren't smgs or sidearms or that have pulse monitor has been doing an okay job of getting me more free space.

i shouldn't have to get rid of things in a collection game in order to have enough free space to collect things

I have DIM. I don't give a shit about the ingame sorting anymore. I just need space.

I actually keep an (increasingly tiny) selection of blues in my vault that dropped at the highest level for that type I've seen so far. I use them to infuse legendaries/exotics in an emergency to bump up the light level.
If only there was some kind of, I dunno, kiosk that could hold items indefinitely for you
You wouldn't even need a kiosk if you just gave us a bunch more inventory space.
Right but, Kiosk had benefits beyond just massive storage space. If I get a ship I like but don't want to clutter up my storage with ships, I could just break the ship and get it back later. I do that all the time with exotics right now.
I ..... don't know my feelings on this. I have all of Shaxx's gear old gear, for example, and enough tokens to probably brute force it if a new weapon is unavailable....
I suppose it's fine.

Aren’t vendors supposed to become de facto kiosks for armor in today’s release?
Lol I just read a post on the front page of dtg that was titled ‘I’m part of the reason Destiny 2 ended up the way it did, I’m sorry’
Is destiny saved yet?
some of the armor sets are available by vendor now, yeah
but weapons are only going to be available one at a time on a rotating basis, so better not dismantle the wrong one now that you'll want to have after the next balance patch

I'm sorry guys, complaining is now a Curse of Osiris exclusive.
Only lavish praise is available to you base game worms.
The only caveat I'd put out there for folks really into collecting:
If you're deleting armor pieces and counting on buying them back from vendors, keep in mind that Bungie previously rotated those out with each expansion or major update. If they don't say anything to the contrary this time around, it might be worth making sure you have copies of your favorites before the next expansion launches, for example.
So.... uh... how did they not forsee the DLC gating breaking this content? Or did they just assume that there was +90% buy in for the DLC? Or what?
I think they did something similar in D1, but I can't remember as I always had the DLC content. Like, Iron Banner, wasn't that locked if you weren't on the current DLC?
Essentially, it's an expansion of D1, literally, in terms of how things worked. People complained in D1 (if the Nightfall fell on a DLC strike, it was locked), but as it wasn't a TOTAL lock, the complainers were buried by the Bungie advocates. So it remained and "improved" for the sequel.
Add in an accelerated DLC schedule, especially for poor PC users, and boom....their management didn't anticipate the backlash. They just saw dolla dolla bills, y'all.
**
And I seriously doubt Faction Rally is back before January. Enjoy the raid lair, I guess.
It feels like Bungie was not in a learning mood when Activision had them meet with Blizzard.
It really doesn't appear that way. Maybe Blizzard met with the live team?
Remember, they were actively separate and didn't talk to the D2 team. And, I would have to assume, D2 people didn't play D1 anymore after they started improving it.
This is a truly uncharitable way to interpret what Newsk said, and a classic internet canard.
