i shouldn't have to get rid of things in a collection game in order to have enough free space to collect things
Cleaning out one's bank and making choices about keeping sentimental items over new crafting materials is classic MMOing.
I mean, I guess. WoW was slightly tight on it back in the day but every expansion had bigger and bigger bags and after a while you had to be a real hoarder to have issues. I mean, I horded an absolutely obscene collection of profession resources and by WOTLK I had issues with organization but not space.
Plus WoW was much less amenable to collecting things given how weapons and armor and such worked.
I don't keep visible wearables in WoW because once you unlock it, you unlock it forever as a cosmetic and can then transmog it - so you can always look your favourite way.

If only there was some kind of, I dunno, kiosk that could hold items indefinitely for you
You wouldn't even need a kiosk if you just gave us a bunch more inventory space.
Right but, Kiosk had benefits beyond just massive storage space. If I get a ship I like but don't want to clutter up my storage with ships, I could just break the ship and get it back later. I do that all the time with exotics right now.
Sure but from the user perspective it's got no real upside beyond organization over just more space. Things come out of the kiosk at a specific level (I think it's 300 now?) and need to be infused up to be usable whereas if you could just keep a copy of X around it can already be the right level. As long as you don't need multiple copies for whatever reason, it's the same thing with less hassle.
Not saying I'm against kiosks, just that they seem like a less straightforward solution for no real reason. I guess beyond organization. Thinking about it, if it came with some like nice pages and sorted by weapon type and expansion or where they come from or whatever, I'd be all over that shit. It would help really push the collection play loop of the game too.
Anyway, the main issue with kiosks over inventory space is actually because of ships and sparrows and the like. Because they roll with random perks to encourage you to spend money at Eververse, you run into the question of how the kiosk deals with that.
There's just so many ways the cash shop in this game is the worst one for the game I've ever heard of in a video game.

Nope. Then again, the armour was also quickly useless so you only kept the stuff that looked really sweet. Kept the clutter down.
Plus, again, bigger bags with every expansion meant more space.

The different between collecting in WoW and collecting in D2 is that a lot of what I get in WoW eventually becomes out leveled and thus useless.
Why does a vault even exist? Why isn't everything in a shared inventory where I can flag 'favorites' for quick selection?
I think the whole existence of a personal inventory is actually a technical limitation based on how many things they can load and show at once.
It doesn't seem like there is any other reason for it considering there is no activity in the game I've seen where you can't switch out stuff directly from the vault via the API. Except obviously activities that lock your equipment but in those cases you can't even switch within the inventory so inventory and vault are no different there either.
Then again, you can only access your vault and postmaster at the tower/farm in game, so maybe it's just a bunch of stupid design decisions. Cause you could always just have the vault screen accessible from the screen next to the character screen.
I forgive you god of shit luck that after two season 1 duplicate exotics, I did get a crimson. I'm sure I'll discover it sucks and feel sad. Also as a twist of cruel irony, I got a masterwork a bad news...
Update ok Crimson, a handcanon that asks, "So what if instead of being ammo conservative fuck it just shoot all the bullets."

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
In case anyone hasn't mentioned it, the Eververse Boons only grant a "Gift of Shaders"; so yes, they are comically and offensively awful, and somewhat deceptive due to the Eververse store's phrasing of their function.
Do they sell everything or just what’s already dropped for you?
they sell their full armor set but you have to unlock them by turning in enough tokens for rewards (2 per piece), but it apparently counts at least some you've already done as i had many already unlocked
then they have one weapon each that appears to be a revolving item, my guess would be weekly but possibly daily?
Allegedly a voice of reason.

There's just so many ways the cash shop in this game is the worst one for the game I've ever heard of in a video game.
Well armor in D1 had random rolls for Intellect, Discipline, and Strength but you could still pull Exotic armor from a kiosk. The way they handled it is that the kiosk offered a static roll of these stats. You'd always get the same outcome when you pulled a piece out (but different per piece). I could see them doing something similar with Sparrows and Ghosts although the underlying implementation might be different because it's perks instead of stats.
Another thing that came up in @Khraul and my "Destiny 2: siiiigh" speed run of CoO: The design decisions being made are trying to make at least two distinct, opposed games occupy the same space.
These are The Sweaty Competitive PvP Game and The Lootbox-Skinner...Box.
Example: Why does every armor set only have one "perk roll"? Because they expect you to be able to glance down a firing lane and see someone's silhouette and think "oh, that's a recovery Hunter" or "oh, that's a Titan with lots of mobility and an Exotic with <some perk>" and react accordingly. But what does that mean for people who don't intend to make a living off of streaming Trials runs? It means you can't ever, ever have gear look how you want and play how you want no matter how much Silver you buy. Dumb.
It would be super simple to solve this the same way, say, Guild Wars 2 does (and has done since I saw it demoed at PAX in 2009, before there was any bloody -Prime, -East, -South, or -Unplugged): separate, cheaply-available armor sets made for competitive PvP. You can have your Recovery Hunter set, your Resilience Titan set, and so forth, and they can even look really really cool! But they don't get in the way of someone who just wants to go for Gensym Knight smooth-curve fashion, or EDZ paintballer styles, and still have armor that supports their play style in PvE. This is a solved problem from almost a decade ago.
It is getting to the point where it interferes with my enjoyment of the amazing, perfect, beautiful engine and shoot-mans modeling and core loop.
I almost feel like this should be in the running for a thread title: Destiny 2: But this is a solved problem!

Ok cool because I cleared Io for Sheldon and he didn’t even give me the stuff to make a future knight hot boi

It was 15 shards/10 tokens when I looked I believe. Might not be for all pieces though.
And yeah, it counts all previous turn ins, which they said it would.
They come out, for me, at lvl 300.
Goes, if I remember correctly:
2 turn-ins => Class Item
4 => Legs
6 => Arms
8 => Chest
10 => Head and Weapons
And the weapon says it rotates out every week.
It's a good system imo. I like it.
Ornaments unlocked via doing stuff during the current season. They act exactly the same as weapon ornaments and unlocks on one character for one slot apply to all 3 class ornaments.
They also sell a bonus thing for ... 10 shards I think that gives everyone in the appropriate activity (Crucible or Strikes and maybe something else too) an extra reward.
In case anyone hasn't mentioned it, the Eververse Boons only grant a "Gift of Shaders"; so yes, they are comically and offensively awful, and somewhat deceptive due to the Eververse store's phrasing of their function.

I'm not sure if its just my TV, but I think they fucked something up with HDR on the PS4. It's super dark, and some colors seem really off (looking at the triangle button for friends, it really hard to tell its green)
Do they planet vendors (failsafe, etc) let you buy armor pieces directly?
Yes. Only the vendors I care about don't let you (salad and factions might during their events, we'll see).
My first masterwork was a nameless midnight, though, so apparently the game wants me to stay.
Both Iron Banner and Faction rally will. Factions you can already see now and Saladin is pictured in the State of Destiny 2 post.
Only vendor who doesn't is the raid guy afaik.
You can't see it at the Factions yet, all you're seeing right now are the ornaments
but yes you are supposed to be able to buy the specific armors when the time comes
which was supposed to be today but
I'm now glad it was delayed. My inventory would have fucking exploded under the strain of that many new armour sets and an entire Dead Orbit's worth of new weapons.

You're joking, right?
Nope.
And the best part is that when you use them, everyone except the person who used it gets a little message saying "Khraul's gift of shaders will be granted after the strike!"
So someone could conceivably remain forever ignorant that there is no other possible reward from using them.

I think I also read that if two people use them in the same match/strike/whatever, you still only get 1 reward, so you can also waste them easily.
If its anything like the strike tokens, the way it works is that you dont get a "Gift" when it ends, you just get a small amount of extra tokens. Other players instead get a "gift" of tokens in their inventory they have to use. When @Peewi and I were running strikes, we both popped ours. I got the bonus tokens gift from him, and some extra ones for myself from my own. If all 3 players use one, you get 2 gifts from the others and some extra from the ending reward from your own.
