I kind of like people surfacing twitter stuff to me here, because twitter is a garbage website with a garbage layout and garbage navigation moderated like garbage, so I never go there myself.
I'm thinking about grabbing a mic, for voice chat and roll20 games and maybe podcasting.
I'm quitting my job of a decade and some, in april, and moving to place with less concern for waking up neighbors.
Gonna be studying for school, but should have more time and freedom for online Dnd or whatever.
I know folk point to blue yeti USB mics as a suggestion.
I've also heard problems with USB mics in general, what do y'all suggest?

If you're not planning on doing anything complicated or fancy, a decent USB mic should be fine and the Yeti and Snowball are both fine choices.
I have no point of comparison for this but from how people have made the switch carts sound, I think they probably taste worse, but without the lingering physical sensation you get from literally shocking your tongue
i've ended up turning off retweets on almost everyone i follow cause boy are retweets an easy to way to clutter up what i'd actually like to see on twitter
I haven't because it sounds dumb but I've always wondered about that forbidden electric fruit
pretty sure some adult told me, when I was a child, that licking a battery is a good way to see if it has any charge left
I have to imagine it'd be pretty harmless
Well, they're not wrong per se, but "enough charge to feel on your tongue" and "enough charge to power electronics" are not necessarily the same thing so what you really gotta do is get a voltmeter and lick a bunch of batteries at different voltage levels until you can identify the voltage by the intensity of the shock.
Like iirc the 9v we used for wireless mics stopped being reliable at around 4v and you're definitely still gonna feel that good
Their facebook group hit 1000 members, so they did a live stream that I think probably just ended?
Also, in addition to their live show with Rachel Bloom, they're doing a live show at San Francisco Sketch Fest with Arden Myrin and John Michael Higgins(!!!!!!!!!!!)
realistically there wasn't enough lead in the solder they were...holding? with their mouths? to cause any real damage, but it's like...hey, maybe don't make putting lead in your mouth a habit, huh?

ohh like, holding it between their lips? Fuck I've done that--soldering can be finicky and you only got at most two hands. I thought you were talking like, full on ingesting it.

So I'd miss some stuff I'd otherwise like to see.
idk why but random twitter links without any context just kinda irritates me for some irrational reason
There is context
They are podcast personalities and its the podcast thread
Noone is forcing you to read them, but other people like them, so... just dont read them
9 pages it is.

there are plenty of tweets that get linked that I have no clue what they refer to
and it kinda sucks! cause it's a big in joke that everyone but me is in on!
which is kinda why I wish some context would at least get posted

That is an unreasonable request
No one is going to, or should be expected to, post the history of an in joke for comedy bang bang before posting the joke
Because the assumption is people who are interested already know it
It's ok for everything in the thread to not be accessible to everyone because people who loke those things can go seek them out
It's not the posters job to bring you or anyone else up to date before posting anything
I haven't because it sounds dumb but I've always wondered about that forbidden electric fruit
It's less intense than touching an electric fence but leaves a nasty taste on your tongue. Not really a worthwhile experience
Clarification: 9-volt, presumably other batteries would be a different experience
You ever lick that D battery if ya nawimsayin

If it stands up its got fuel, if not it falls down
Gotta polish that D battery before you lick it, yeah, I hear ya, I hear ya

each week the hosts improvise an entire musical with a guest, and it's almost always way better than it has any right to be
I was also not fed very well back then, and now I wonder if there's a correlation.

I don't think this show looks great.
But it has Good Eleanor in it...
