I could have sworn I've gotten multiple "break blah's head" rewards with my hammer. Like Anajanath. I guess I could be wrong, my memory for this stuff is spotty and most of my focused hunting has been on Diablos.

Oh wait anjy can be I forgot when he flares up I believe it keeps flaring up even if you've "broken it"
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Being killed in 2 back to back hits is a staple in Monster Hunter.
It shouldn't be. In particular when you've actually prepped for the fight. I just failed my first quest because I got stuck in a combo loop at full health. That isn't fun. In the slightest. Especially when, even after getting a monster to SKULL you haven't learned enough about it to exploit it's weakness.
Been playing this here and there between Total Warhammer and Dragonball FighterZ, been swapping around my weapons a ton. At first I was heavy on the charge blade, but I haven't been doing great with it the paste few hunts. Been gravitating more toward the gun lance now. Tore Anjanath apart with it, even kept him stagger locked after waking him up from his nap until he died (not even really sure how I managed it, he just seemed unable to do anything).
I've played the series before, but never got super far. So far I am really enjoying this one, though might cool it until a friend of mine catches up.
Does bandit cloak make anything drop besides sellables?
Just $$$$$$$.
Lots and lots of $$$$$$$.
Wait, monsters drop things that are only money? WTF, i'm doing final grinds for money and need TONS, you're telling me i have stuff i can sell cause it AIN'T CRAFTING MATS?!?!?!?!
I sell crafting mats that I have too much of. Mostly all sorts of ore, but also some generic bones. But bandit mantle makes monsters drop yellow shinies. Anything that says trade-in time can be sold. Mostly scales and eggs.
Equip the bandit mantle, hit the monster, and you’ll hear a specific sound and a gold pickup will appear on the ground. From endgame monsters they’re worth like 3-5k each and it’s easy to walk away with 10+ in a fight.
So early on SoS seems like kind of a crapshoot. I've joined at least two Anjanath SoS quests hoping to farm for parts where the host just could not stop carting. Time just goes down the drain and it's a little frustrating. Hard to save people from themselves.
You'd think they'd play defensivly and let themselves get carried.
Meanwhile, joining in lategame Kirin SOSes was delightful. People using Lifepowders and knocking others out of stuns. Everyone setting bombs/etc on sleep. Communicating across English/JPN lines with stickers. Probably the happiest I've been playing with MHun randoms.
My experience with Kirin/Kushala SOSes is Slicing ammo everywhere. Kirin in particular sucks because it's so small so there's no way to hit the monster without also being in range of the slicing ammo.

Yea i've got it, and i've been using it for stuff, but I didn't know those were sellable. My question becomes, because the things they drop that way are also things they just give you as rewards, how do i identify them in my inventory?
Ok that's not confusing. So the "trade-in" items from the captain of the Argonsy(?) can get you trade in items. But those aren't just for money...are they?

They're just for money.
Go to the provisions supplier, choose sell and then go to the last page of your materials tab after sorting. You might have quite a few items worth a chunk of change. They'll be clearly labeled as trade in items in their description so you know they're safe to sell.
Ok, well i'ma need to know what a tempered investigation is then....Not even sure i have ever got one of those....
Gotta clear all the assigned quests and reach HR 29 first, then you get a chance to fight double bombers and unlock them.
I've been hearing this too, but not true! I've only killed one of the 3 elders you track down, so still at the HR14 lock, and while tracking down the second one I picked up two tempered investigations.
Though: I've joined in on tempered quests, and have down a lot of extra content so my hidden HR is a lot higher, so not really sure where the 'you can find tempered investigations' unlock is.
There's a hidden HR? Mines gonna be high. After i farmed Nergi, before the next story quest, i've completed every optional quest i could find....
Yes. Your rank gets visibly capped until you complete specific progression quests, but that whole time you're still gaining hidden hunter rank. Once you clear the progression quest and remove the cap you catch up with all the rank you earned

You can change everything in Monster Hunter Stories if you're japanese.
