A gripe and idea
Why don't they just wipe Barov and put it up there as a server? I feel having 6 pvp servers is silly as there is a lot of people who don't want to play on one. What I am afraid of since I have not picked a server yet is they will have them up for the naming freak out how little people signed up for pvp and then roll out Barov or so to alleviate the pop of several of the servers when it goes live
None of the servers for the stress test nor any of the servers they announced are "real" servers. I guarantee they are virtual and they are able to spin up servers at-will.
I still have no idea how y'all got lucky where you weren't camped for hours. Even switching zones, still hours.
level 25-40 were awful on my realm.
I, and others, still have no idea how you got camped for hours. I still think you pissed someone off and it was a vendetta, that's how bizarre it is to me.
A PvP server is awesome if you're in a guild. I don't have a guild this time 'round .

Like, that is not a one-off experience for me. It was the regular daily life of leveling on a pvp server, and if your faction has a lower population it is a far more frequent occurrence with little to no recourse but to run, die, run again, die again, go to a gy and take rez sickness, die to that guy's buddy, tell everyone to get the fuck out of that area, and either decide to log or run to another gy. And going to another area to level instead wasn't a recourse, usually, either, because oh look there's another level 60-70 guy over there who's ganking folks left and right. And then you get into hostage situations where you're just throwing emotes at that person to try and beg them to leave you the fuck alone and they toy with you and maybe hit you with poison or kill a mob you're fighting, and then eventually they always kill you. And there was nobody to run to for help. There was no righteous charge out of SW to beat these folks back or deal with them in any way. Sometimes there would be! And then what ensued was a 7-on-2 fight where our faction still lost and I still got ganked and I'm still level 22 because I can't. fucking. level.
I can only surmise that you either constantly had a guild at your beck and call for such scenarios, or you were playing in the more favored faction.
Equally confusing is trying to convince non-pvp players that the reason they had bad experiences with pvp is that they were doing something wrong for the 4+ years they did it, or that their experiences are false, rather than the far simpler and easier answer: They got killed a lot and didn't like it.
It may also depend on *when* you leveled as much as where.
I got camped a handful of times on my way to 60. Enough to ditch a priest around level 30. I didn't start immediately at launch either, so I was behind the leveling curve.
I switched to rogue and things were easier because I could stealth away if I respawned in the right spot, but it still meant I had to wait for the camper to get bored and leave. If I started back up questing, they would be back. I do not have the patience, let alone the time, for pvp "duels" while I'm leveling up now.
In my experience on a pvp server, equally-leveled players left each other alone; usually we would see each other, and both come to the conclusion we didn't want to waste the time trying to fight each other. Sometimes we would create a temporary alliance to take down a tough mob, but most of the time, we just moved to different parts of the quest area and minded our own business. That part was cool. Getting ganked by level 60s with nothing better to do was not.
It may be bizarre to you that people got camped on pvp servers for hours. It doesn't invalidate those experiences though.
I did't have a guild until after I was 60, and I don't remember being camped for hours. Yeah, you'd get ganked in STV daily, but usually people had better things to do than screw with lowbies for hours on end. This was before ZG though, so it's not like anybody that was 60 had any reason to be in STV unless they were specifically there to gank. I was also on a medium pop server, so that might have had something to do with it as well.
I'm still not sure how a low 30s player could piss off a level 60 player to the point they'd have a vendetta, especially one that avoided pvping in general. That's some bizarre logic.
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me
As someone who likes PVP in all games, started WoW Horde PVP and formed a world PVP guild starting with the Barrens, spent weeks PVPing instead of leveling, and rarely got camped because I had an entire guild at my back...
I'm rolling PVE this time around.
Still haven't heard any reasons why I need PVP over PVE server. I don't give a shit about ganking others, I am going to be focusing on BGs. What's it matter?
I rock War Mode on "normal" retail which is basically PVE server, have Alliance Slayer, do arenas. Nothing about being on a PVP server or being flagged is material to the real gameplay for me.
Being camped for hours is just a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and being unwilling to relocate. Which was way tougher to do in vanilla, since there weren't as many options in regards to levelling.
I played a rogue on a pvp server so I learned quickly to cut and run when it got hairy
It's that era of playing on Destromath {as a side I went and looked and was quite confused I thought it was a pvp server back in vanilla? I have not been there in years so it kicked me outside of Org} Is why I don't want to play on a pvp server again.
Just I am not feeling the classic server names I don't want to be known as Name-Myzrael it just looks awkward

but yeah hopping between southern stv and desolace and getting camped in both places isn't "unwilling to relocate" it's quite literally you cannot play

I really wish the normal pvp server was named Grobbulus, Whitemane and Fairbanks just don't have the awesomeness of Grobbulus and I'm not much for RP.
Pretty stoked to get in game and start leveling my Warrior though I feel like the people poop socking to max will end up being problems.
Also trying to avoid servers with streamers.
Warriors can tank with 2h weapons early on, right?

I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
Tanking with a two hand while you as the healer was not fun getting yelled at by his friend because you cannot heal them both being dumb was priest #4 being deleted 10 minutes later This was a Zul’Farak run that was a nightmare only being outdone by the repeat of my brother and I could not keep a death knight healed in a UK run in wrath on both our priests and he got ultra mouthy
Well attempting to reserve a name has been a trainwreck of errors for me.
Shuffled me onto a realm I had not selected. Reserved my names without noticing. Finally got into the realm I wanted, but couldn't reserve more names. Back to the erroneous realm. Delete names and back to intended realm. Names all gone.

i took it straightforward. you should relocate but at certain levels, there just aren't good options. also, moving from stv to desolace (takes like 20 minutes easy) and then having a group of gankers there can be really disheartening.

and it's never as simple as "unwilling to relocate"
If you're on a server where people gank frequently, no matter where you go there'll be someone. You only need one person, and a dozen people can lock down lowbies. On a server of hundreds, it's not exactly outlandish to think that rogue who is bored is gonna chill out to gank.

Herod is looking like it's going to be the megaserver. Faerlina is pretty much the streamer server as lots of them have said they are going there. Even asmon said he probably will, though he's an edgelord and may last minute go somewhere else just to cause drama. Whitemane is the incel 4chan server. Thalnos is the BR/LA server after the streamers claimed faerlina. fairbanks is the west coast pvp server no one is playing on.
herod will probably be completely unplayable though. If the population is showing as high on the name reservation day, actual launch is going to be nuts.

If you're still on the fence and it makes any difference, we could use some more DPS of all varieties!
Casual raiding is the aspiration, but no promises yet. We're all just gonna enjoy the march to 60 for now

Maybe raid when I'm able.
I'm not sure when/if they intend to implement the Burning Crusade expansion, but I hope we get at least 2 years without.

Uuuhmmmm..... Maybe but only if they are on the over leveled side of things...
A major chunk of your total armor comes from the shield itself
What I can say is you can easily tank with arms talents and any crap green sword and shield
gg ez
Alliance
Schizzo of Exuberance!
Sixteen Daggers (PvE)
Horde
Does that look right?

I'm making a horde pvp guild on either fairbanks or Whitemane, not sure yet though. Depends on how many streamers are on either.

Why?
Did you save names as people are setting up guilds from here unless you just want to roll with it and see where it leads
There's a bunch of us on pagle doing alliance pve
another guild from the PAA also doing alliance pve I think (not sure which server)
there's a few talking about putting together a horde guild but I haven't seen anything definitive on that yet
