It nukes your individual xp, but makes up for it in volume of kills per minute and loss of down time. And if they're just grinding, they can't be bothered to share 10 - 15 mobs just so someone can get this freakin' quest done?
Something to remember, anyway, the next time I hear people waxing poetic about how much more "social" Classic is.
There's no accounting for antisocial people. But the fact that you're even talking about having strong incentives to group up with random people speaks volumes about how much more social the game is.
I mean I'm sure there are folk out there not inviting but at least on fairbanks unless a group is full I've had great success getting into groups. It's been intensely social in a way that retail never is.
as much as pain to the bag space was, that pages quest is pretty unique in how "big" the scope was. so yeah there were problems, but also, community. people trading duplicate pages was a big thing and i remember that fondly.
If there's one thing I liked about it, it was the sheer amount of total experience you got for doing it. Once you got to STV you could effectively buy a level off of the auction house.
A friend and I just spent an hour and a half just killing satyrs in Ashenvale. The stupid things did not like dropping their horns and we each needed 16 for the quest. The process was not helped by it being an orange quest for us. The satyrs resisted a lot of spells. At least we got a bunch of silk in the process and my friend made me Spidersilk Boots.

Me and my wife kept having to bounce around zones because we would finish quests and then they would eventually all be orange to us. We basically had to do all of loch modan and westfall just to hit 18, along with just a few quests into redridge. We’re going to have to farm deadmines a bit to get our levels up before we finish redridge and do wetlands.
Over an hour with Skrec, Thorandil and Nizhal in Redridge, grinding Orcs 4-5 levels above us until we each got 10 quest drops. Found a nice spot all to ourselves with 13-14 spawn locations including a trio and a couple patrols of doubles. I think we managed to kill everything and have no mobs alive maybe once or twice? And we essentially never stopped pulling.
I feel I am going not to hop continents this time as I feel I will do something I wanted to do in vanilla but didn't know how to stick with one side of the world while questing.

What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable? ~ Mario Novak
I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
Got my paladin to 30 today. I never played alliance so it's been cool seeing these other zones, and starting to get into shared zones from the other side. Ashenvale and Hillsbrad have been blood baths. I don't know actual numbers but it does appear that there are a lot more horde than alliance on our server, and it's very noticeable in PvP areas.
It's fun, though. Lots of impromptu groups spinning up to chase of corpse campers. Everybody is keen to party up and travel together for safety in numbers and to try and even the odds. It just adds a lot of flavour to being out in the world.
We'll see how I'm feeling about it once I reach STV. From what guildies are saying, it is absolutely brutal there at the moment.

Just like classic! It always seemed that people who wanted to focus on PvP and get competitive about it also tend to lean towards the horde. It was tough finding competitive pvp groups on alliance. Although there were a few but getting into the group usually had a list.
My cunning plan worked! I had mining and skinning till 23 - then dropped skinning for Engineering and made a killing of the Deadly Boomstick (Horde quest). At 12 Gold, and the farm for copper is easy.

The Horde Fairbanks guild The Ded Boyz is officially created. If you are rolling Horde on Fairbanks give either Pailryder or myself a whisper to get an invite.
The goal is to PvP and do some raiding, nothing hardcore.
I also want to get high warlord.

It isn't like I created a spreadsheet with schedule on it and will be requiring all guildies to take a shift on my account so I can have 100% up time to achieve high warlord. It isn't like I am going to kick anyone out of the guild for not doing this.
I hope you have a pillowcase. We are going next level.

If vanilla is any indication, you're not getting it without playing 20 hours per day for a couple of months.

Prepare for a months long grind to get to high warlord {I knew of people aka a certain rogue would hide in stealth and leech honor}
I am tempted to get Lt General again on my warlock but I knew of the grind and it took
I have the epic bow on my blood elf hunter I did in TBC. But if I want to be stupid again I know beastmastery kind of works in vanilla So the debate is do I want to go orc or troll this time? if I make a hunter again?

the last two groups i've done have featured at least one underlevel healer/tank and both groups disbanding because we couldn't beat VC...

I joined a guild and there's usually a decent number of people on, but guild chat is deathly silent.
It finally occurred to me that they're all probably on discord.
