Dreamcast, VGA, and Viewsonic

So, a while back I bought a VGA box/cable/thingy for my Dreamcast. Unfortunately, the thing didn't work with my nice flat-front 17" ViewSonic CRT. It did, however, work fine with a 17" Compaq I had laying around. A bit disappointing, since it doesn't look as nice, but whatever.

Anyway, I recently acquired a nice 19" ViewSonic CRT from my school, and I would love to use it with my Dreamcast for the substantial size and quality difference over the Compaq. But, as luck would have it, the two don't cooperate.

The two ViewSonics have the exact same problem: they simply do not react to the Dreamcast's output. It is as if there is nothing connected at all. They both work perfectly with my computer and my XBox 360, so there's nothing wrong with the actual monitors. Also, the Dreamcast's VGA box works perfectly with the crappy Compaq and my LCD, so it's not entirely the Dreamcast's fault, either.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something I can do to the monitors to get them to cooperate? I tried messing with settings while the Dreamcast is running, but I cannot access the monitor menu.

I doubt this can really be fixed, but it's worth a shot.
