Blue Apron is okay for a month or two for couples who want to do fun kitchen projects where they learn how to cook with ingredients they don't normally use, build up a repertoire of recipes, and then quit the service now that they know what to look for in grocery stores and farmer's markets.
It is a terrible long-term meal plan.

I wonder what would happen if you put an adult used to a 24 hour daily cycle and dropped them into a world with less time per day... like even 23 hours, would that mess you up or would you adjust?
Conversely, if you put an infant into an 18 hour daily cycle who never knew better, would they be fine or is our genetic programming kind of locked in tot he world working like it does?
This thought brought to you by the 23/7 joke made on the comic today.
I think I read somewhere that our circadian rhythm isn't perfectly mapped to 24 hours anyway (I wanna say it's on a 25 hour cycle for people who haven't seen the sun in ages because they're spelunking in caves or something)
I want that sweet 24.5 hour Martian day
Best believe I'm using that extra half hour for sleep

Blue Apron and its competitors seem p cute and handy. If I had a lot more disposable income I’d probably try it on occasion. But it’s so, so expensive compared to regular home cooking, even if paying delivery to a grocery store.

I actually hate Neil deGrasse Tyson. Not like irony "haha I hate him he's so funny / right." I mean I think he's a piece of shit.
nah; he really does push for the advancement of scientific knowledge and wants to inspire kids to look towards the stars and dream of a better future. I am a big fan of that.
Cosmos 2 was actually good!
But whenever he says or does a "Well, ACTUALLY" I wish someone would just rest an index finger on his lips and go "shh, no. no."

To start, it's about as environmentally unsustainable as possible. Everything is sent to build the recipe and nothing more, which isn't how most ingredients come, and all of it is packaged in tons of plastic baggies. The one time we tried it the bags of chicken opened and got the juice everywhere, effectively ruining the order.
It's also expensive. I understand they are negotiating a time vs. money thing, but I can't see a situation in which this makes sense for anyone besides those who can afford to eat out most nights but want the novel experience of cooking without really learning anything.
Dunno about in the US but a ton of the UK versions of these things do hefty introductory discounts, to the point where if you try them for a week or two it's actually cheaper than buying the ingredients
That made sense to me, but as a long term thing? Nah

I don't know how or why this happens, except that they rarely let it outside.
We have a yard! There's a nice little green space right across the street, too! Plenty of opportunities, if you weren't the world's worst dog owners.

Geth, roll 1d20 for Neil's wisdom check
Did Neil DeGrasse Tyson's twitter get hacked by a parody writer?

Sorry Neil, it turns out that with your current modifiers to Wisdom you still failed that check. Better luck next year!
No, he takes some kind of weird sexual pleasure pointing out that stuff people enjoy is dumb or scientifically insignificant/wrong.
I adore the guy but this is his least attractive quality. Carl Sagan wasn't dunking on peoples' joy.

He's always been both, which is strange
Like he can flip the switch in an instant, be a prick for 3 minutes, then switch right back
He's just got a few character flaws that make him wanna be the "most technically correct" guy or something, I don't know
What he's done to encourage the study of astrophysics is huge, but he's been wrong often enough that you'd think he'd be humbled
And yet
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
i didn't like the fact i did all the work and paid 4x the cost of the ingredients as it would have been to just go buy them myself
Wait, i didn't tag you?
Gah, i knew i would forget a ton of people. I'm sorry.
