D&D threads marking themselves?

Commander ZoomCommander Zoom Registered User regular
For a while now, since late last year, I've been having an issue where threads in Debate and/or Discourse - and nowhere else, as far as I can tell - seem to be tagging themselves as touched / partially read, and displaying themselves henceforth as blue, with unread message counts.

Assuming, as I must, that my own perceptions and memory are accurate - and that I am not randomly clicking on threads in which I have no interest, then forgetting that I did so - I can only speculate as what is happening. Perhaps the issue is on my end, such as an oversensitive mouse or other problem generating spurious clicks as I happen to pass over these threads; or perhaps it is something on this end, with thread IDs getting switched, or something. I make this post as much to see if anyone else has observed similar behavior, or if it's just me, as in the search/hope of a solution.

[edited to focus more clearly on the observed issue]

If you haven't already done so you may want to try out the bookmarks feature (see the star at the top right of the page). The bookmarks list basically acts as a custom subforum that pulls in all the threads you're interested in from all the actual subforums, and you can add or remove a thread from the list by clicking the gold ribbon all the way to the right of a thread title.

I have the bookmarks list set as my browser home page, which is where I do most of my forum reading from. Every few days I'll browse through the normal subforums to see if there are any new topics I'm interested in, which I can then add to the list for future reference.

I'm not inclined to blame this on the forums "not working" since you appear to be the only person experiencing it.

Welp, I guess I'll try the workaround and that will at least probably make the other possible issue moot.

Once a thread has been opened, it stays forever marked. Sometimes I'll accidentally click on the wrong thread because an image wasn't done loading, or I just misclick, and then that thread is forever taunting me.

Is there a way to use the bookmarks feature that does not involve getting a notification any time anyone posts in the bookmarked thread? It's like every single post is @ -ing me, and it's very distracting.

Yep, you can just change that in your notification settings
