As a cheap-ass who has spent exactly $0 on HotS, I really appreciate all the random cool skins, mounts, and occasional stimpacks I've gotten since the 2.0 system kicked in. I even own every hero (except Blaze, haven't bought him yet). Granted I have played the game a lot in about 3 years (account level will be 1,000 soon), and I am pretty diligent about doing daily quests, but HotS is super F2P friendly. If you play long enough, you will have access to an incredibly deep roster. Compare that to Hearthstone, where completing dailies for years won't give you anything remotely approaching an extensive collection capable of playing all manner of strong, crazy, fun, or meme-y decks.
I wonder how well HotS is doing financially, though, because anecdotally it seems like people are spending significantly less on the game now.
I think they must be floundering a bit, else why would they pull the 'gem-only skins' stunt?
Because people were complaining about not being able to buy skins with money. So they introduced a way to meet those requests without actually effecting the lootbox lottery economy they use to milk addicts for money. It's a PR exercise.

So Lunara is kind of hilarious on the trash can fire that is Volskaya foundry. 427k hero damage in a 31 minute game. I just kept taking a building complex on every single "protector" spawn and kept all the lanes clear. They won all of the objectives but lost the map badly, because unlike the "protector" Lunara can actually take a keep.

The buffed Protector (on PTR) seems like it's REALLY strong now actually. Thing can siege down buildings real good like.
I think it was a pretty good fix insofar as getting people to want to use it, and actually occupy both seats.
Though I wonder if teams will still run past it and kill the remaining 3 in a 5v3 scenario, hmm.
I've noticed a weird thing with Ana. Her healing is so efficient that, assuming that you're landing your darts, it should be damn near impossible to get mana starved. However I've been commonly noticing an inverse correlation between healing efficiency and my teammate's survival instincts. To the point where I'll still manage to get mana starved despite landing most of my darts. It's like they'll just stand under the towers without a care in the world and facetank everything and I'll just be :bigfrown:

What's the point of having an Ana (or Morales) if I'm not taking as much damage as possible?
What's the point of having an Ana (or Morales) if I'm not taking as much damage as possible?
There is a line between taking advantage of the healing resources available and overtaxing them by needlessly taking too much avoidable damage. Pushing the limit for a bit to do something important like knocking out some towers or a fort? That's great but that's not what I'm seeing. I'm seeing people overextend so far or for so long that they risk disaster if an assassin were to jump them or if a teamfight were to break out. I'm seeing people beat their heads repeatedly against the wall to the point where, even with Ana's efficiency, keeping them alive will quickly make me OOM and force me back to the well or back to base. I don't see that excessive recklessness when I play other healers.

It's the curse of being good at healing. The better you are at saving your teammates from doing stupid things, the more and more risky and stupid things they will do. Then they die and yell at you about "where dem healz at nub!?". It's why I generally refuse to heal in HL because it's so pointless.

The "you need to heal me more," guys who you've healed on cooldown at every possible opportunity are the worst.
This is why if you get stuck healing in HL, always go BW, there's no on demand healing for your teammates to complain about and you get to just position and make plays

I really like Brightwing because every other game has a Genji and/or Tracer in it and BW completely shits all over their dive plays.

Aside from blink heal. ^^'
But yeah, as supports go, which I never ever play, I like BW's style the most.
A lot of what she does goes unnoticed but can be so clutch.
I apparently need to just keep playing Junkrat. I'm 9-1 with him so far in QM games plus 2-0 with him in TL. I'm probably cursing myself to a losing streak just posting this and I know I'm going to lose games sooner rather than later with him anyways, but it's a nice run so far at least.
There was reportedly an update to the PTR, but no patch notes went out. Reddit supersleuths found out the changes though:
Changes we found so far:
Maiev
Stats
Maiev's base armor was reduced from 15 to 10.
Abilities
Spirit of Vengeance (E): Gained +2 sight radius.
Talents
Level 16
Armored Assault (Passive): Now requires you to have more than 10 armor, instead of more than 15 armor.
Hanzo
Talents
Level 7
Sharpened Arrowheads (Q): The armor reduction debuff per basic attack or Storm Bow (Q) hit was reduced from -4 to -2. In addition, the armor debuff's duration was reduced from 4 seconds to 3 seconds.
Never Outmatched (W): Scatter Arrow's cooldown reduction per basic attack was reduced from 4 seconds to 2.5 seconds.
Genji
Abilities
Dragonblade (R): Damage reduced from 240 to 220 per enemy hit.
Talents
Level 20
The Dragon Becomes Me (R): Dragonblade's duration increase per hit was reduced from 0.75 to 0.5 seconds.
Greymane
Abilities
Gilnean Cocktail (Human Q): Damage reduced from 59 to 55 to the first enemy hit, and from 236 to 220 to enemies hit by the explosion.
Razor Swipe (Worgen Q): Damage reduced from 135 to 126.
So, pretty big Hanzo nerfs (does that mean Sharpened Arrowheads only goes to -10 Armor now? Oh, no, it's still -20, it's just MUCH harder to actually stack up and keep up now. That's probably fine?), FINALLY nerfing Dragonblade, and some Greymane nerfs. Slightly lowered Maiev's base Armor too, will make a bit of a difference early game, at least until she gets her level 13s.
Those changes might shake up the HGC draft staples!
Officially the unluckiest CCG player ever.

Summary of every single Chromie tonight.
You are the #1 Damage with most kills, least deaths, and 150+ stacks of Q. However, it's still your fault that your team loses.
I love Chromie to death as a hero, but holy shit is she not viable for QM. I don't really get mad or tilt when I QM with her though because I anticipate that we will lose. Just irritating though when your teammates inability to follow up on your damage and burst is somehow your fault.
A flat distribution of players across ranks basically means that you don't have an accurate population curve.
This is exactly why I said from the start that they should've reset everything once they learned the extent of the problem at the start of the season. This is basic garbage-in garbage-out logic. You can't expect that your MMR/rank system will correct itself over time if it was seeded with bad data to begin with. And you certainly can't expect that to happen in the context of a free-to-play game where players have no incentive to consistently grind and recur themselves to the mean. Especially if they think the whole thing is a waste of time due to the terrible start to the season and feel like they are running into bad games due to the aforementioned placement issues.
I have had a significant proportion of my games this season impacted by people who are clearly out of their depth or, worse, placed at an inappropriately high rank and suddenly think they are hot shit when they are clearly not a good player. Not only has this whole situation impacted the quality of my games from a competitive perspective, but it has definitely had an impact from a toxicity perspective. The number of "Diamond" or "Master" Players who suddenly show up in QM/UD and talk shit to everyone only to watch them die over and over again to idiotic engages has been mind-boggling.

Right now I fully expect to have to carry for at least 1, maybe 2 people on my team every game. Last night I had one with three people an entire TIER below me, and.. they were all significantly better than the people at my tier I usually get paired with. Strong agree ranked was, and is, absolutely fucked this season. Hopefully they do a full reset going into next season, or just use everyone's QM MMR or something. This season has been awful.

Holy shit some of these clips were insane. Can't even say which was the best. Maybe Sumaro?
I think I liked the Azmodan one the most but the clip could have been setup better by not starting off focusing on Azmodan so the hit came as a surprise instead of the audience knowing it was coming from a mile off.
I have a bunch of game keys that have been building up from Humble Bundle over the years so if any of you want one its first come first serve.
For Origin I have - Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Medal of Honor, and Mirror's Edge.
For Steam I have all of those mentioned above and - Life is Strange Complete Season, and Snake Pass
Let me know if you want one and I'll message you the key.

I feel like Dragon's Arrow is too fast. Especially when compared to the alternative. The number of times you see it used as an engage even at the pro level is kind of ridiculous given it's a ranged global that ignores collision except on heroes.
Leftovers has a Chromie who, 15+ minutes in, hasn't completed her Q quest yet
