One other thing for folks wondering some about the setting, there's been a MW2 Kingdoms mod out for a while, that basically covers this exact era. It's a port of a Rome 1 mod that I played back in the day (one of my favorites). Obviously it's older and a mod, so mileage may vary, but they do some fun things with the different factions.
Now that ToB is out I'm hoping tomorrow's Total War Warhammer news drop is details on the new lord pack. Probably gonna be another week to give the game more time to breath though.
It seems like a voice actor has listed a credit for an upcoming "The Queen and the Crone" DLC for Warhammer II. (So, the Everqueen Alarielle for the High Elves and Crone Hellebron for the Dark Elves.)
This matches the common speculation of what the next DLC would be, so I was a little sceptical of it being real, but it's seemingly posted by the actor himself (Joel Gorf, slightly wrong, one assumes, as "Queen & the Crones"). He is voicing a Shadow Walker (the tabletop name for Shadow Warrior unit leaders - not sure if it's a new Lord type or unit) and has previously voiced the Loremaster of Hoeth.

That would be about what I would expect. Not super big on Hellebron, but not gonna complain about getting another woman as an LL. Here's to hoping Alarielle is fun to play though, I wasn't a fan of Teclis or Tyrion's start position so I've barely done anything with High Elves.
Looks like today's announcement is Ungrim being moved to Karak Kadrin and some people have spotted in the short video showing it that Dwarves have a crafting tab now.
One thing I don't like about Thrones of Britannia is how they lock late game units behind the tech trees, but then make you do achievement-like things to unlock a branch of the tech tree in the first place. Like recruit 10 archer units to unlock the archer tech tree and eventually research the improved archers. I always end up unlocking the same 2 or 3 trees first, and have never unlocked some others. Like I would have to cheese the game and do things that don't make sense to get some tech trees to unlock before the late-late game.
you could always just recruit say...10 archers and then start to merge them when you don't need so many. The "achievements" don't appear to be too restrictive

Man, ToB is exactly the setting that I've been wanting for as long as the TW series has been around. Mods will sand off some of the weird edges I'm sure, but overall this scratches so many of my itches. Lovin it
Hey thread, I haven't been into TW since shogun 2 (which got boring because of dumb battle AI).
I recently got very interested after reading about the coop features in warhammer 2? It sounds awesome to hand off some of your army, although a proper coop where you're literally the same team would've been even cooler.
So now I'm looking into ToB, are the coop features in this too? Maybe I should spring for the newer game? Not sure how I feel about mega heroes and spells, though warhammer is cool.
Holy crap the Roman party in Rome 2 that gives -50% upkeep to auxiliaries is massively powerful.
Just give every army a core of like 6 principes/legionaries, fill out the rest with auxiliaries (socii extrordinarii and syracusan hoplites are great line infantry that are almost as good as legionaries/principes and triarii, socii equites, syracusan peltasts, and celtic skirmishers are superior to equites/velites even without upkeep reduction) and you can have like 6 full stacks running around with just the 4 italian provinces supporting them really early in the game.
Something that appears to have not been mentioned in any review so far is that in Brittania, you are automatically trading with everyone except for those you are at war with. Makes sense to me; it was always trivial that non-aggression > trade. It makes resource production highly profitable.
Are there any elf vampires, because that looks like a scary elvish door?
There was one in the end times that died shortly after. For the most part elves don’t care to become vampires because they are immortal anyway, and vampires don’t turn them because they are afraid of their potential power. There are elven wights running around though, and vampires in some stories prize elven cemetaries for stock.
Dwarfs can be made vampires and undead but this is generally avoided, because they are highly resistant to mind control and retain full free will even when undead.
This combined with Dwarfs being Dwarfs means raising undead dwarfs is basically suicide.

Man, Grimgorson must be the worst Dwarf name to get stuck with.
His mom was very open minded for a dwarf.

Since Black Orks were made to be slaves of the Chaos Dwarfs, I imagine it might have been a proper Dawi name one time in the past given to one of their slaves.
Hasn't been stated where they start, but sounds like Ulthuan and Naggaroth which is slightly disappointing. Alarielle follows in Arkhan's shoes and can recruit some Wood Elf freemen units though, so that's cool.
Looks like the free lord coming along with the DLC is Alith Anar for the High Elves. Also sounds like the Kharibdyss will probably be FLC for Dark Elves post release of the DLC sometime.
Damn, adding the tanky wood elf units to the high elf roster (especially now that they have even more archers and melee archers) sounds like a lot of fun.
Har Ganeth is also just a stone's throw from Naggarond, so it's particularly unexciting. Maybe her unique mechanic will make Hellebron a nice change of pace though.
Grombdrindal should at least get an objective to cave Malekith's head in.
Allarielle I am looking forward to. The forest spirit units were very fun with Wood Elves, probably give me the boost I need to actually do a High Elf campaign.
Yeah. I still think they should use that capability at some point to do a Haarkon zombie pirates faction (VC subtract cavalry but add zombie reskins of free company, handgunners, and cannons)
They gave the same description for their post release content. Gonna assume it's the Kharibdyss because that was one of the things people found referenced in the files awhile back.

Also does this mean a free Lizaedman LL? I hope so!
Hellebron would probably be the Cult of Khaine, no idea on Alarielle. My High Elf Lore is not amazing.
People are assuming so, though I don't think it's been stated for sure.

Is the AIs still so dumb it cant siege a castle?
It's pretty impressive looking, with custom units and army lists.
It’s not a very important country most of the time

They should move Grombrindle there too just to mess with things.

"Any content post release?
…But this is not all. The Druchii possess a dark and powerful weapon.
When blood runs in rivers and the air is choked with Death, the chains will break and this monstrous secret will be unleashed."
Lots of cool stuff
I haven't played Dark Elfs yet, so I'm actually thinking of a Malekith playthrough
Should be more fun with new Norsca in
Hmmmm
