Gifting Help - Synth Keyboard Information

So Mrs. Enc's birthday is coming up in a month or two and I know she has been wanting a keyboard to re-learn piano and also start doing digital composing using it.

I, however, have no idea what keyboard would be good for someone beginning to do that thing.

Anyone here have suggestions?

Depends on your budget, but if her intent is to also be able to play on acoustic pianos, one with weighted and touch sensitive* keys would be best. Weighted will typically increase the cost a fair amount but i think these days touch is pretty standard and cheap.

*i think technically it's velocity sensitive, but usually referred to as touch.

I’ll always be partial to Casio keyboards because they were ubiquitous in my youth.

This one, or really any of the less expensive options available look good:

The cheapest one doesn’t have the touch sensitive keys and, as mentioned above, that’s probably the main extra you’ll want to look for.

is the "piano style keys" the touch sensitive ones?

I’d make sure it says “touch sensitive” along with any other descriptors. Marketing language is so annoying.

Awesome, thanks all! I found the right fit and pulled the trigger.
