Planning a trip to Mexico
So after almost a year of stress and waiting, I finally became a U.S Citizen (wooo).
I've already applied for my passport and I want the wife's and I first out of country trip to be Mexico. Despite originally being from there, I haven't been there in probably close to two decades. We're barely in the starting phase of planning, and are looking for a summer or fall trip. I just honestly not sure where to start in terms of looking, booking, and most importantly saving money. We want to spend a week or so, primarily in Mexico City. Currently we're based in NYC. For people that have taken this type of trip, how much do you recommend saving away? Any tips in terms of planning, location, websites to use?

I stayed at an Airbnb in the centro neighborhood. The place itself was reasonably nice. We paid $200 for 5 nights. I would probably try to stay in the Roma neighborhood next time, which I expect would be a little more expensive but is also a little nicer, and safer.
We got around with a mix of buses (very cheap), walking (even cheaper), and uber (also cheap). If I was doing it again I would use uber a lot more. Saves a lot of time and it was only about $5 for a 20 minute taxi ride. We also took a coach bus to Teotihuacan, which was about $7/person roundtrip?
I don't have a ton of food recommendations other than to say the street food looked delicious. We didn't partake in it much because my wife was pregnant and didn't want to get sick. But, I think food is an area where you can choose your budget.
