I was half paying attention to y'all while sailing around on my own, so I was rooting for you in the fights and stuff.
That underwater arch seems super cool; apparently the special area for pirate legends is in the game, just not unlockable, so maybe it's the entry to that! Or something else.
I discovered that Mermaid's Refuge (or whatever it's called) has an underwater cave system, and one of the forts had a glowing green locked door that said a key is required.
I got stumped earlier in the day by a riddle quest. It was on Thieves' Haven, and was something like:
A shining light held up to the sky
Discover the bridge above the inner twin waterfalls and don't be shy
I found two sets of two waterfalls, and tried holding my lantern up above and below them, all the nearby bridges, various bridgelike rock formations, and even just nearby spots. No dice. Unfortunately voyages that you're currently on go away when you quit out, so now I'll never know.
did you look up into the sky when you held your lantern up?
also note, that just having your lantern out is not the same as holding it up.
on controller, right trigger turns the light on and off, left trigger raises it (just covering all the bases if you didn't know)
inner twin waterfalls tells me its probably the set that is as close to center of the island as possible.

Spent a few hours on the sea last night. Found a few chests, which wow two chests of Sorrow were a bad idea.
And whenever we found another ship they kept running away. The one that did engage us was able to turn way faster than we were, so there's definitely a learning curve to angling the sails.
yea, sniperguy, delain, mcgee and I fared decently with our ship. we were able to catch people eventually but I know we need to be johnny on the spot when it comes to sail management. we did pretty good, but I know we can perfect it and do much better.
@sniperguy if you can confirm, it felt like 2people working on sails did more work than 2 seperate people on different sails?
what I mean is, two people on different sails could angle them left to right in 30 seconds
but 2 people who angle one sail, then the second sail could angle both in 25~seconds.
they do quicker work together than separately.
not to mention having 1 sail already catching full wind means the ship is moving faster that much sooner

@Deadfall I think raising the sails tightens your turn radius (though maybe just due to slowing down?), and it's also possible to do a handbrake turn by dropping the anchor. Not sure how much angling the sails affects turning, but it definitely affects speed.
Yeah I think people two manning the sails is probably faster but I'm not totally sure. I really wanna know about the weird hidden stuff in this game too.
we need to let the devs know that we need to be able to supply the ship faster than what's available.
I'm aware that you don't want to give players 30 or 40 of every supply because then why would you supply the ship, but its a pain in the ass that I can only carry 5 bananas or 5 pieces of wood on board at a time when we have barrels that hold 100 units a piece.
it'd even be nice to drop supplies on the shoreline so that you can have 3 scour the island quicker for it and 1 can dump stuff into the ship more efficiently.
or a supply barrel you can take off the ship, load it up, and then place it back on the ship in a hopper node and it would sort out everything inside of it to its proper location.
because collecting 5 things, and the time spent going to the boat to drop them off, I lose track of where I was on the island when i found it to continue my search.

I generally just drop off stuff before getting off the ship, then grab more stuff on my way back onto the ship. It feels to me like having a fully stocked ship is kind of supposed to be like having a fully leveled up ship or something; having tons of cannonballs and planks is supposed to be an advantage, not the default state. You can grind for it, or just accumulate stuff naturally as you go.
Also, here's a clip of my girlfriend getting revenge on me for having abandoned ship earlier (in order to force her to sail it in to shore and anchor it):
Yea, Id like more as well. Although where were you guys on saturday and sunday?
I rolled with sniper's crew on friday and then i was doing the jack sparrow routine at the end of the 3rd movie, because everyone else are cunts with a rando 4th (substantiated with the current assholery of randos anywhere, but still). sailing by yourself is nowhere near as fun as with a crew

Saturday I was playing Fortnite with one of my friends, since he hasn't upgraded to Windows 10 yet; I thought the stress test ended at 2am PST on Sunday, so didn't play then.
My gamertag is Surfpossum, tho, you should add me on the things for the next one.
I played with some folk from the Twitch PA Discord group and then suffered an "identity crisis" cuz I'm more than a decade late to figuring out a gamertag. :P
I tried to play Saturday and it was down the entire time I tried to get in. Our Friday shenanigans were pretty great thought! I went ahead and preordered based on that, I've had nothing but a blast the entire time with this game, even when I hit a frustrating part.
Loving that PA comic.

I was perusing the store (got one of them limited edition coin thingummies) when I came across this figure of an NPC/enemy (spoilered in case anyone is trying to go in as blind as possible):
If there are gameplay implications for this,
that could be pretty neat! Like if one spawns, there will be a nearby chest or something. Or they could just be an Order of Souls target I guess.
Still! If nothing else it's interesting from a lore perspective.
And a new video about the skeleton fort mini events!

They mentioned in the stress test patch notes that they added [more?] "ambush" skeletons that spawned when you dug up a chest. I could see one of these fellas popping up on chests related to higher level voyages
People did that during the betas, but i never saw it. The crew that cant revive on ship should stay on deck if you are raid planning.
It would be very awesome to get PA to do that since we can get the numbers, but specifically linking two ships in the same instance is almost impossible with their matchmaking code/design
The game's modular design seems to be very open to larger crew ships down the line--I got the impression that the developers were worried enough about the core formula (and know with certainty the majority of game time will be spent it one or two-crew ships) that they're putting it off rather than implementing it and fixing everything it breaks afterwards.
Imagine a shipwreck, except it’s floating just fine on the surface. Inside it’s lousy with snakes. There is a chest all the way in the deepest part. Good luck.
I'm just throwing out the bat signal for the rest of tonight, I can barely stay awake. I'll jump in tomorrow morning if you guys want to get some pirating action going on.

Alas, yeah, I'm on the East Coast, so this was around 2 AM for me. Still would like to try again.
The PA Discord server has some text/voice channels for Sea of Thieves now to help with finding groups and such.

Hmm, the few times I tried to quickly log in yesterday I got a message saying Sea of Thieves was updating; today I briefly get a splash screen and then it just quits out.
Has anybody else gotten that? Not sure if it's something on my end or server stuff.
also check in the store and manage your games. there really is an 18gb~patch to download, or that's just what the tin says.
a sizable patch does need to be downloaded.
