Well, since more or less everyone is OK with it, I'm going to add Rank to the roster at the end of Zek's turn.

Also, being cocky and argumentative is a big part of Nomic. I don't begrudge anybody that right.

Yeah, which is exactly why I can still be more cocky by arguing even more.

I only concede that Rank can join because technically it's allowed by the rules if you interpret 116 literally. I just don't want to hear any complaints if that comes up again further down the line and someone does something "not in the spirit of the game" because of it.

If you douche up this game, I will step outside of it and kick you out.

And also, it's actually pretty hard to do anything under Rule 116, since most of what you might think to do would involve something already touched on in other rules.

Oh, I'm not worried that you'll be able to do anything crazy or foul up the game. Even if you could find a way to do so, there is always the option to boot you.

I'm more concerned that you will alienate other players. This game should be about the maximum number of players exercising their minds and having fun.

Indeed. Resolution fails. Points need to be assessed. After that, Graves can post his prop.

Doesn't matter it is Grave's turn to come up with a prop.
That is, have all the votes for Prop 302 gone in?

I submit that in the last turn, Cups42, PotU, MiracleManS, Franko and Zek did not place a proper vote and should be assessed a penalty as per rules 214 and 301. This is in addition to any voters who did not submit any attempts at votes during the round.

    As evidence:
    Cups42 wrote: »

    The rule:
    301. MUTABLE Rule: In order for a vote to be considered valid, it must be posted in one of the following two formats. If it does not match this format precisely, the casting player is considered to have not cast a vote, and is subject to any penalties this may incur.

I vote in favor of the active proposition.

I vote against the active proposition.

To wit, the an affirmative vote must use the above phrase, in bold, lime text, and a negative vote must use the above phrase in bold, red text.

Note the missing period in cups42's post. All offending "votes" share this mistake.

Also, I'm not sure what to do with pkerfbnd etc's vote. Opinions?

We should be able to take care of point assessment without nap's presence, either way.

Zek gets 0 points, the non-voters get -20, right?

actually, I just got a text message from Nap. You're in the right about the penalty points, and he says that we should just move on to Graves' turn. Nap will be away from his computer for most of the night, but we can certainly continue without him for now.

Graves has 24 hours to submit a proposal starting a little bit ago. All people above are necessarily assessed the penalty. Any other opinions on pke's submission? It contained the correct text, but also superfluous text.

I believe that the submission doesn't count.

I think you must have misread, because my vote is in perfect syntax.

Also, I get 1 point + 1 per positive vote, as per rule 202.

Ah, you're right, my bad. Every time I read 202, I interpreted it to only apply to propositions that were approved. I count... 3 correctly entered lime votes for you.

What's the reasoning behind increasing the point value for each successive player that takes a turn? I'm not sure why I will get an advantage with regards to max score, but I guess I'll take it.

    Rule text:

    202. One turn consists of two parts in this order: (1) proposing one rule-change and having it voted on, and (2) assigning scores.
To determine the score for the active player, subtract 291 from the ordinal number of his proposal and multiply the result by the fraction of favorable votes it received, rounded to the nearest integer. (This yields a number between 0 and 10 for the first player, with the upper limit increasing by one each turn; more points are awarded for more popular proposals.)

    Zek gets 302-291 = 11 * (3/14) = 2.357... rounded down to 2.

    Minus 20, so -18.

You mean minus 10, so -8.
