I don't know where the other one has gone, and I don't want to revive something from so long ago. I figured it was better to make a new one.
So without further ado........
WOOHOO! THREAD FOR FIGHTING GAMES!!!
I just got a taste of Soul Calibur 2's Weapon Master mode. I understand now why I was suggested to just GameFAQ my way through it back when I was considering buying the game months ago.
But anyway, is there any tips you can give to prevent me from doing anything stupid?
I'm sure there's common sense stuff like buying only weapons for players I'm "good" with during my first time through it all. But that's the only thing I can think of.
I've also noticed that there's no "New File" or anything else when I go to the mode in the main menu. All I'm given is "Continue". Is there something to this I don't understand.
And one last thing: I know I'm supposed to be able to pick any character, so that the one I picked at the start isn't the one I'm stuck with throughout it all. However, I haven't seen anywhere I can pick a character again. I'll admit I've only gone through it once, so I don't know if I'm supposed to choose my character every time before getting back into the story, but I was under the impression that whenever I'm on the map, I can change the character I'm using.
Maybe you can summarize everything I just said with "WTF did I just start?!" ;-)

You change your character from the same menu you use to bring up the shop/change your weapons (press Start)
You should buy only weapons for your favorite/good characters at first, but eventually you'll find the "moneymaker" challenges that you can use to get loads of gold and buy EVERYTHING (which you will, eventually)
Personally I went through the entire thing with Link my first time through. He's a godsend for clearing dungeons.
edit: also, be prepared to be pissed off at the "don't fall down" challenges.
It's one of the few games I'm confident that I can beat just about anyone at, and no one ever plays it in arcades.
Nothing has come close to Tobal 2 for the psx.
IMO at least.
Anyway, :^: guilty gear.
I heard it was coming to Wii.

I am amazed they haven't even announced the Bleach DS game for the US market, as they are catching up pretty quick to the point where the game wouldn't be too big of a spoiler.
I play Yoshimitsu anyway.
That's why I hate the AC version of Soul Calibur 2. She's not in it.
And a local arcade has GGXX, but the cabinet's all kinds of broken. Sucks, since I'd love to play it on an arcade cabinet.
I loved Alpha 3. After my brother sold my copy I managed to pick one up off Ebay fairly cheap, brand new as well. I fucking love World Tour mode. Managing to perfect your way through the whole thing to hit 32 is a bitch, but the customising so excellent.
Except for Bison and his bullshit screenwide instant Psycho Crusher of Doom.
Fuck him.
He's a pain in the ass, but man, it just wouldn't be the same without him. I especially love when I was just getting used to the game I'd be kicking his ass, but I'd jump one too many times and die a horrible blue death.
Good Times, especially when you unlock the two man romp stomp mode and go crazy on him. Ah, revenge.
Sagat is so cheap in it on turbo 7. Fucks peoples shit up is what I'm saying.
High Low High High Low, too close uppercut.
Sagat just fucks my shit up on any difficulty or speed. Always has. Either I perfect him or get my ass kicked.
I used to use turbo 7 as a training exercise. Play a few matches faster than thought and when you turned it back down you got some real matrix shit going.
That works for Melee too.
Satan cheats
PS. it's really fun.
PPS. Ciel kicks ass.

Besides following objectives, is there the potential for penalties such as not earning as much gold/exp. as you could have each round? According to one of the guides on GameFAQ, when you face Voldo for the first time and you have to hit him at least 20 times in 20 seconds, if you make him do a ring out you'll get the exp but you won't get the gold. So do you know of any other possible instances were something like this might happen?
I WILL NOT BE DOING 3DS FOR NWC THREAD. SOMEONE ELSE WILL HAVE TO TAKE OVER.
Spoiler contains Friend Codes. Won't you be my friend?

Haha! After like 20 minutes of that stupid guy I beat him.
Oh man, you weren't wrong when you said that. Why didn't they keep the old one :v:
Anyway, AC's coming out for the Wii?! That sounds... worrying.
It's really fast, not too deep, pretty nice looking and really fucking hard against the computer.
That is all.
that being said, DOA4 AI does know all the best juggles that people came up with from DOA2U
It's the speed of the AI that makes it difficult... The final boss has this instant reaction to my proximity and a whole lot of really hard to block high-low combos.
That and my timing on counters is a little hit and miss at the moment since this is my first DOA.
Unlike the other DOA bosses, she's a featherweight, so all the best juggles should hit her.
She likes to crouchdash into offensive hold, so mid attacks will start the new stun game.
The floor is electric, which encourages players to learn the new ground bounce juggle game.
That said, move that cover a lot of ground like the dragon kick or many people's running triple kick seems to get her every time...
KOF, Fatal Fury games, Samurai Shodown, some weirdo Double Dragon fighting game (not a brawler like its brothers, and much better than that cartoon based SNES Double Dragon fighter), Mark of the Wolves, Art of Fighting (less likely on VC with that Wii anthology coming out), Last Blade, and I'm sure many more.
Supposedly they're gonna start with an SNK release today, but we'll see in about fifteen minutes.
At least Nintendo is actively courting 2d games, as opposed to Sony of America trying to keep them from getting to us. Bring me my 2d fighters, damn it!
Supposedly, it's not all that hot.
I'd love a crack at it, though. Only CPS3 game I haven't played.
