Whenever you exhaust a card, add a random card to your hand.
With Corruption in play it gets, ah, somewhat silly.
Throw in Fiend Fire (Exhaust your hand. Deal 10 damage for each exhausted card. Exhaust.), Second Wind (Exhaust all non-Attack cards in your hand and gain 5 Block for each.) and Seeing Red (Gain 2 Energy. Exhaust.) and you can run ridiculous turns with completely random-ass cards showing up everywhere.
This is by far the best deck I've ever had just in terms of pure shits and giggles. I got the Champ as my second floor boss and extended the fight to see how much Block I could stack in a single turn before killing him (it was nearly 400 LUL).
i really want to make a shiv build work because it's fun but i just can't figure it out.

From my experience you don't really need to build around shivs. Infinite blades+ and Cloak and Dagger+ are just good cards you can run in goodstuff Silent, that happen to get better if you hit exhaust or strength synergy. Or like, Finisher and Choke are more flexible ways to capitalize on them than, say, Accuracy.
I'm also a big fan of Storm of Steel+ in just any deck with lots of card draw.
my last few silent runs have been lacking footwork, and it feels real bad.
This is the future. This is what we built. This is what we wanted. It must have been. Because we all had the fucking choice, didn't we? It is only our money that allows commercial culture to flower. If we didn't want to live like this, we could have changed it at any time, by not fucking paying for it.
So let's celebrate by all going out and buying the same burger. -transmet
Hitting a hard wall at ascension 4 with Ironclad. I keep either getting dumb streaks of like 5 upper cuts over the course of card choices or a bunch of niche options I haven't really built around like the exhaust non-attacks get armor for each card. Dumb degenerate stuff doesn't like showing up. I should probably take more ? rooms in the first area.
Did get a good strength whirlwind thing going on, but got too greedy trying to get a high-strength reaper off to heal in the third area and died to an explosive orb.

The exhaust non-attacks card (Second Wind) is really, really good. It takes care of curses and status effects, and thins out your basic defends for the good block cards in your deck like Shrug it Off. It's definitely the card I slept on the longest, but I almost always take a copy when it's offered now.
I really want to make a deck around expertise+ and concentration+.
That 2 card combo should be enough of an engine to take a 15-20 card deck infinite. You just need a few prepared+ and cantrips to make it work. The deck doesn't require any relics to work and is infinitely powerful. It doesn't require any rare cards to work. So you should be able to consistently make it work. As long as you get some way to survive until mid floor 2 and can reasonably get some deck thinning it's a deck you could achieve almost every game.
However, both those cards are pretty terrible on their own, so I still haven't done it. I just don't want to put concentration in my deck.
I’m sorta sour on Second Wind, as the last few times I used it it shows up with the skills I want to keep with awkward regularity. This is usually when I have picked up Power Through too. The consistency has been a problem.

I like Storm of Steel because it does heavy lifting in both the Shiv deck and the discard deck; it's a nice early pickup before I'm locked in.

I don’t know how I feel about dead branch because it can just end up filling your deck with a lot of garbage, which feels bad if you’re trying to run something small and tight with consistent cycle.
Like I’m trying to draw things like finisher or flechette as often as possible so exhausting shivs with dead branch doesn’t really get me there, even if I do get some good cards out of it.

It’s really good with IC, not good with silent, because IC can use cards like Fiend Fire, Corruption, and True Grit to turn useless cards into resources (and hopefully a better card).

Power Through is a trap unless you already have Evolve in your deck.

I tried to really do an Exhaust deck, with Corruption and everything, for the first time.
I played it really badly. But it was fun, did OK, I'll have to try again.
I wasn’t running Corruption, but I had an exhaust deck with Fiend Fire and Immolate and honestly I liked it a lot.
I don’t know if the deck was “good” but it got me a win against the final boss when I Fiend Fired him for 300+ damage. I think I had the relic that deals damage on exhaust as well.

I made a couple big mistakes, since it was my first time playing with it. The Choker Relic, usually one of my favorites for energy, does not mesh with Corruption. Plus, I spent some gold on stuff I didn't need, then the very next spot was a store with Dead Branch that I was 30 gold short of .
FINALLY! Ascension level 5 defeated with The Silent!
MVP cards: Noxious Fumes and Blur
Honorable Mention cards: Neutralize and Alchemize
MVP Relics: Eternal Feather, Kunai, Sneko Skull
MVP Event: Upgrade all Defend and Strikes
After a horrible string of runs yesterday, I finally managed to make this one work. My first card selection was Dagger Spray and while it did some work early on, it was mostly fodder near the end. Never got a chance to ditch it. Oh well.
Bought a Noxious Fumes from the Merchant and figured I was a Block/Poison deck. Got a Catalyst and was lucky to avoid all Elites except one early on. Another Merchant sold the Sneko Skull and things picked up on the second floor. Ironically enough, things got super OP just before the final boss where I got offered Blade Dance+ and Infinite Blades. Those two combined finally put Kunai online with free Shivs which sent my Dexterity bonus through the roof. Donu and Deca couldn't keep up with my standard Defends dropping 20+ Block each.
Special shout-out to the Eternal Feather which helped me stay healthy through the run. It's one of those often overlooked bonuses that you don't realize is pulling a lot of weight until you've upgraded almost every card. Much love to Alchemize. Combined with the White Beast Statue Relic, I had access to 2 potions each fight (one during, one after). I no longer had to hoard them which made fights easier. I did make sure to hold on to 2 Dexterity potions before the final boss. So OP!
Next up is Ascension 6 with IC!

I need someone to just tell me what kind of silent deck to look for, because after an early run getting to the final boss I’ve been getting slapped around on the second and third floors and I think I just don’t understand what I’m supposed to be doing.

I haven't played Silent in a while, because I'm stuck pounding my head against Ironclad Asc15, but from what I remember....
Blur & Footwork are nice staples in most decks. Can't have too many Backflips. I never pass up Escape Plan, either (0-mana draw a card? sure!)
A safe strategy is to just grab a couple Poison cards (Noxious Fumes is always nice), Catalyst, and a bunch of Block.
Yeah, an early game noxious fumes is like S+ tier for silent. You really hurt for damage on the first 2 floors. By the end of the 3rd floor you are consistently OP.

That ? Event where you offer a card as a sacrifice and you get a reward based on its rarity, I offered a curse for the first time and got a Stinky Poo relic - does it do anything bad or just sit there looking funny?

And here's my first Silent win! Also my first play-it-all-every-turn deck.
Final boss was Donu and Deca, first time I killed them too. I even made two really stupid mistakes in the first round; I didn't stack enough Shield and took damage, so I lost the advantage of the "full hp? +1 energy" relic. And I threw out my Terror on Donu while he still had Artifact.
Astrolabe got me the Expertise+ and I can't really remember what else, but it was useful. Pen Nib was purchased at the very last shop before Donu & Deca. Blur at a different shop on the third level. The Infinite Blades was one of my first cards, but I never saw anything else notable for Shivs. It was still handy for piling activations on to Finisher+, which was a second level acquisition.
Pretty cut and dry, but that was really entertaining. Adrenaline+ is great, but Tactician+, Expertise+, and Finesse+ did serious work.
Had a IC strength build going. Inflame+ x2 -> double strength (no exhaust) -> beat things over the head with 30+ Strikes and so forth. There was enough Defends and Block builders to keep me alive. I even took the eating card early on for fun, only to boost my HP total to over 120!
Got all the way to the final boss without much issue. But of course it was The Awakened One. Can't play my powers without boosting him and get absolutely destroyed. Well that was a waste of an hour. Any other boss and it would have been screenshot/MVP time.
Edit: For science, I went ahead and played my power cards once I knew I was dead. That fucker boosted to 18x4?! Looks like some bosses are just hard counters to certain builds.

sigh, i just had a pretty good setup on the first area, was about to beat the boss if i got anything but a full defend hand. i drew a full defend hand.
ughhhh. i think i might be done with this game, it just feels so fucking random that i can't figure out how to get better to counteract the randomness. edit: lol yea and then my next run had 3 bad options and replace relic, so gave that a try and got philospher's stone, aka instantly abandon run and start again. why does shit like that even exist in the game except to troll you.

My only regrets were not being able to get rid of those last pesky defends, and getting kettlebell too late to charge it up.
Throw in Fiend Fire (Exhaust your hand. Deal 10 damage for each exhausted card.
