At some point, +1 damage on every attack in your deck could be worth more than a smith, and being repeatable where varja isn't has some merit. It's probably safer than Ju-Ju doll shenanigans and doesn't rely on nearly as many pieces.
Like, would I rather have shovel or pipe? Yes. But it's probably still alright if you can spare a fire or two.
I'd like there to be an Relic that allows you to sell cards, potions, and/or relics in the shop. Like, the usual 25-50% discounted return rate, so that you could sell off junk you don't need. You could make it a Relic active all the time, or like Neow's Lament where you get 3-5 uses or something. Could be a fun Relic to alter runs, allowing players to unload stuff to cash in before a boss.

Any general advice for killing the Heart with Silent? I just absolutely hate playing this character, but want to get it done for the achievement. I'm primarily a Defect guy

A relic that lets you sell cards to the shop sounds more than slightly busted. ;P But something that lets you "consume" an undesired relic sounds interesting.
@The Zombie Penguin I'm curious - can you give this seed a try and let me know how it goes? I was doing A20 Silent heart-run. Just a rough pathing plan and notable decisions + final deck list, not a full play-by-play.
Seed: 2HGINZATVC84F
(the cards cut off are an unupgraded Noxious Fumes and 2x Dodge and Roll+
This deck was messy and ugly, only the Apparition event kept me from a horrible death mid-act 2.
Combined that with the Meat on the Bone Relic to at least stay above 50% of 35 max hp. And of course the boss was Time Eater (I really hate that guy), but seriously he seems to be a hard counter to most of Silent's good strategies.
But thanks to liberal abuse of fight resets, I was able to squeak through and eke out a victory. Without the Save & Quit, I doubt I'd have made it to Act 3 even.
I for sure have very little idea what I'm doing with Silent, but this deck and the previous run (died to Time Eater) were really fun.

spam Reflex, dodge and roll, blur, backflip, noxious fumes is probably the easiest way
there are some burst catalyst decks that can do it.
Shivs grow pretty busted if you have a kunai or dead branch
probably reaper, right? It has high synergy with demon form?
But would i ever play demon form in a hallway fight? What if I don't get an energy relic?
Barricade would not do much for me now but if I find an entrench and maybe a headbutt would it win me the run?

You'd absolutely play Demon Form in some hallway fights (especially with Helix), though it's more likely to come up in Act 3 than Act 2. Reaper is still almost certainly the right choice, as it also synergizes with Demon Form in the long run.

I think that would break a fairly fundamental aspect of the game, just interms of your choices carrying significant consequences.
Like your talking about something way stronger than empty cage, and that's hardly a weak boss relic.
If it was in, it'd probably a: need a charge system b: be limited to cashing in relics, and c, be a boss reward. Probably a on pick up, choose 2 relics to loose, gain X gold based on rarity. Or something?
@Powerpuppies reaper all the way. Str/reaper is one of ironclads most degenerate strategies (it can rival or exceed corruption/db level degenerate with the right deck, though it tends to be very thinking intense)

Beating the heart requires scaling defense and scaling damage. Silent is the queen of these.
Easiest is some mix of poison for damage (usually with a catalyst to hit the cap asap), and some mix of wraith forms/footworks/paper kranes/after image abuse.
Holding ghost in a jar (s) just to the heart tight can break it wide open.
@ArcticLancer to bad, your getting a stream & vod once I'm home and able to record
Oh I won't complain about that. I was just trying to make it simple for you. ;P
THE PACT IS MADE, MORTAL.
@ArcticLancer which is to say i'm going live and doing this seed now, so come get your butti nhere so you can commenate or osmething while things go horribly amisss (I'm tired, havent slept much, and have tooth pain. This IS GUNNA BE GOOD! =D)
Well, wiped out to Champ. I dunno, never felt like there as anything great going on in that run, and never got to make anything work - It had the start to something poisoned based, But Evenom + Ifninte Blades does not work against champ and his 14 fucking metallizce. Maybe i missed something? I defintely dindt draft that well in act 1, which didnt help. But act 1's routing was kinda awful, the whale bonuses were icky for the act paths avaible (I think i took choose a card, and took a sucker punch?).
Sorry! Just dont feel like there's much to say on this one.
I made the post and the very next run I destroyed the heart by keeping a smaller deck and just abusing the shit out of blur + dodge and roll + the double skill card w/ catalyst. thanks, everyone!
edit: I also got a snecko eye. it really felt like all of the RNG just came together.

Sorry I didn't get to watch it live - we might have some time zone incompatibilities (I'm Atlantic, so your post following mine went up at 12:30AM and sorry but I need to work today ).
Anyway, I'm going to watch now since it seems like you did have some divergence from how I played, but I wiped at the same point. I felt very similar that it started okay but then got stuffed on decent options throughout Act 2. I died the turn after he powered up and swung for 66 damage.
Again, thanks for playing it~
[Edit]
Hovering over Ghost In A Jar and sighing might be my favourite thing in the run. XD
[Edit 2]
I think your deck was definitely coming together better than mine was. You took a totally different path Act 1 (I went up the left and fought the empowered elite), and despite going up the same side in Act 2 we took a few different branches that certainly lead to some interesting differences. My final status was as such (notice the incredibly sad lack of relics ... I had taken the blue key in one of my chests because something positively useless had appeared):

I'm glad this was all helpful. And hey, giaj is good! (Seriously happy that amused)
Honestly, I feel like this run had a dearth of good options in act 1, and then act 2 never really have it anything to let it make up for a shoddy a1. The augmenter event was also just the worst - 2 uncommons and neither was any good for what the deck was doing.
Also funny thing for you: the entire time I was playing the seed being like is there some trick to this, some interesting twist I've missed?
I'm maybe going to take down A14 with that demon form reaper run. Asked the pain skull for 720 gold and then killed the boss on the last survivable turn right after. Necro book doing serious work. Might demand boss card reward help again.
I took fusion hammer after act 1 and then skipped most card rewards, but I took an armaments which may have been an error. If I can upgrade it in an event it will do serious work, and it's strictly better than defend even if the tongs miss it, but it increases the odds I don't have a book target for a turn, and upgrading a single strike or defend or body slam is very silly

Grrrr .. Perfect the Slime Boss only to get gimped on floor 3 of Act 2 by the stupid plant that hits for 3x8 several turns in a row. That was some of the most rotten feeling bad RNG I've had in a while (the deck was almost half blocks, had draw, and I found hot nothing).
We got this really interesting/cool deck that fell apart because i am bad at using Wing Boots, and we never found Frost orbs so we could block worth a damn:
Actually, this was just a really cool deck - i took Meteor Strike as a gamble because i had icecream, and ended up with this deck that would have over 30 energy.

I’m on Ascension 7 with all characters. I can consistently beat Act 1. Act 2 is when things get dicey. Mostly because encountering multiple enemies, all of whom attack on the same turn, is hot bullshit unless your deck is OP.
5 strikes 4 defend 1 ascender bane above the screenie
Limit break right?
Offering or Exhume. Spot Weakness + Demon form is enough strenght scaling, you dont really need to nova it. Exhume's probably the best bet, as it lets you get and play Reaper again - and with that deck you're taking a fuckload of damage in general.
Took exhume, didn't get the draws to use it. Cut a swathe through act 3 easily on the back of bottled necrobooked immolate+. Got no demon form against the heart, multiattacks cleared my buffer and my lizard tail before the big one, and died with 500 hp remaining. Stupid shield and spear took me down to 19.

Well, you beat the boss which is the important part! the heart's just a bonus round dealie.
Going back live for however long my stamina holds out, expect interruptions as i go and check on delicious soup i'm cooking (It has bacon, white wine and other things in it~)
I beat A15 ironclad! Very weird deck. Bottled Bomb+, two Bludgeon, two Perfect Strike, with Paper Phrog. Some block. No scaling offense or defense!
...That's...that's a deck alright. (Though, i'd argue with enough Vuln, you kinda have scaling offense with a deck like that. It's a very binary scale that reads "Vuln Y/N?" but is a scale. a scale made of corpses)
On that note, i'm going live. That soup was frigging tasty, by the way.
I've had two different A20 decks get through Act 3 only to die to the second boss. Sigh...
I'm starting to think I sometimes play too greedy. My decks often die way earlier than that... but if they do finally make it to the bosses, it's usually pretty straightforward

To be fair, on A20 (Esp A20 heart kills), gunning for high variance strategies can be a good plan. (Like Jorbs was on what, a 0-12 loss streak today? or something crazy? But when the stuff worked out, he shredded the game).
You need power and lots of it to win A20, doubly so if you're going for the heart. So finding ways to snap the game in your favour is worth it. (Though sometimes you just have to knife fight your way until a very bloody victory!)
I do think losses like Dovers are sometimes the worst though - Especially when it feels like you should have been able to make it, and then you splatter.
This run would have been a lot easier if i'd ever found Reaper. (Part of why i had nooooo guilt on reloading vs the heart <.<)
Still. If you ever wanted proof max hp can do some bonkers shit? This is the run for you.
Final HP count was 168 max hp, whcih is some of the highest max hp i've ever got out of a run
Takeaways from this run:
Early Feed is worth upgrading. When i say max HP is broken, this is what i mean.
That + Meat on the Bone made Coffee Dripper an easy(ish) take. ("Be at half hp to get healed" looks a lot more reasonable when you have 100+ hp.)
Demon Form was enough scaling by itself - i didn't even get it into play against the heart till turn 4 (It would have been less close if it had shown earlier, to be fair). Deck probably needed a little more scaling here - a sword boomerang or a heavy blade would have been a serious blessing.
Snecko Eye is really good when you rely on getting a power into play to win.
Small deck rules are good rules. (Compare how many cards are skills that'll be exhausted, vs attacks)
Not having Medical Kit sucked, but i think buying Preserved Insect over it was the right choice (Letting me take an extra act 2 elite. Act 3 had no elites other than my super, which sucked? Though i think reptomancer just killed me)
No VoD i'm afraid, but hopefully this is sitll interesting!
