Tried out pierce gun on xeno. After 2 carts I had to finish him off with lance. I dunno how you guys doing so much damage. Need some decos to gem in some gun skills. Pierce up, weak exploit, and attack was all I had to boost damage.

That's kinda all you need. Just stay at head/tail and fire down him. Best if he does a straight laser. Roll away from the charges. Or shoot from the side through the chest also works and is safer. If you're using HBG you're gonna need to make more ammo. If you're using CritDraw DP Bow, you won't need all your Power Coatings to finish the fight. I think the first or second time I tried it with the Bow it took <10m to finish.

Oh yeah I forgot to record it but yesterday had a tempered Kushala fight who aggroed the Grajalakkas. It was terrifying. 15 damage numbers just popping up everywhere. I think they were doing somewhere around 100-150 DPS as long as he was in LOS.

Man I hate after you deliver an awesome anime slash and then you like poke finish a monster. That's like the scouring of the shire of finishes to a hunt!

I was trying out long sword on an arena Pink Rathian last night and I had it to the point where I was pretty sure it was almost gone, so as I'm starting a spirit combo I say to my girlfriend, "watch this sick anime kill."

    Finish slash... no kill.

    "Damn," I say.

I walk up to the Rathian and poke it.

    It dies.

I got carted during a tempered Rathian/Rathalos fight earlier today probably 2-3 frames before Dragon Piercer fired. Went back to the fight, launched an arc shot, THE FIRST FUCKING PEBBLE killed the Rathalos.

    Seriously, they don't mess around.

Same thing with the girros in the Rotten Vale - I've lost count of the number of times O-dog will aggro them and end up getting paralyzed for half the hunt.

The Gajalakas will also fuck you up if you don't pay attention to them so don't always rely on them going for the monster.

There is another move they do which is probably what he was talking about, its what happens when you level their faction above 4, they will bomb a monster when it gets in their area.

Unless it's Black Diablos. Then you sling a dung bomb at the monster you want to focus on, and run away with it.

You WANT Turf Wars. Because then the monsters are fighting each other, not you, and you can sneak up and get free hits.

If it's not an arena, you can throw Dung Pods at one to make it go away. Doesn't work very well on Black Diablos, but pretty much every other monster will leave.

If it is in an arena, make heavy use of the arena traps like the boulders overhead or the dragonator.

Otherwise, Flash Pods to stun one, Sleep to make one fall asleep, or simply keep repositioning yourself so that the monsters hit each other instead of you. It takes a bit of instinct and learned tempo to effectively fight one monster while another is at your back, so avoid those kinds of situations if you can. It's always worth rolling laterally after combos just in case the other monster is going for a sucker punch.

I generally slot Stun Resistance and Earplugs so I don't get stunned. This is just generally useful even in solo fights, but in multi-monster fights, it can save your life.

I also always bring a Farcaster to get to camp. It can be used in a pinch when you need to GTFO right now.

Wide swinging weapons (LS, SA) or Piercing weapons (Bow, Pierce shots from Bowguns) have a big advantage because they can hit both monsters at the same time, often.

monsters will flinch each other alot

it will take some getting used to but basically you slow down your aggression

try to keep both in sight, or wait for one to do a charge or large recovery attack and then hit it or the other

if you can get them close to one another and bait moves you can basically hit each one for 50% dmg and the other half will come from each other

He sadly didn't drop an electro sac, but I feel like I should be able to farm him a bit and have that weapon soon so I can feel comfortable taking on Legiana.

Pro-tip: Sacs can't be carved, they're only in rewards. Carves only come from the pool of carveable items, but capture rewards can come from both the carve pool and the reward pool. You get more rewards when you capture (around 5 I think, the 2 you always get and 3 to make up for the lack of 3 carves) than when you carve (2) so you have a much higher chance to get one if you capture.

I guess its time to learn how to capture something

Get the monster to limp/skull icon, drop trap, jam two tranq bombs at it when it's trapped. Alternately, follow it back to its lair when it limps off, hit it with two tranqs while it's sleeping, drop a trap on its head. Don't take too long with method 2 or it'll heal up too much.

The heal up thing is a fear that is rarely a thing you have to worry about. Like I have trapped after an anjy has been resting for I swear 5 minutes because I got lost in ancient forest. God damn you ancient forest!

Well, I've had it happen a few times solo or in groups, but then you just smash the monster on the head a few times until the quest end procs.

Yeah, I especially would recommend beating on black diablos a little longer than other monsters even when the skull pops. Or popping a sleep bomb on it when it goes to sleep.

Looks like Aloy's armor and bow is coming out on Feb. 28th and will run until March 15th. The only skill they mention on her set (which sounds like it's similar to Ryu's set in terms of being a full armor set with some skills on it) is Marathon Runner. And you are fighting a gigantic Anjanath, HR 11 (so High Rank).

Somewhat less with a hammer since I'm better at being super aggressive with it, now.

The others vary, depending on my mood, but usually I start in camp 6, kill Barroth and Kulu in quick succession, then coin-flip to either Jyuratodus or Rathian, depending on where I killed the Kulu. But yeah, it doesn't matter too much, since there's plenty of time to kill all of them.

I usually do Jury, kulu, barroth, blos and then Rathian. Rath because she tends to stay up north while I'm doing in blos.

I do wonder what Coral will be. Leg, Pink Rath, tzi, palo and maybe odo?
I usually do Diablos last, because I can just fast travel to camp 15 and he's right there.

I do like these mega hunts though. Elder's Recess would probably be the fucking worst though. Lavisioth, Uru, dodonga (not hard really) and Azure Rathalos.

And maybe Nergigante, if they decide to pad with elders.

I'm hoping for a mega elder fight like the rank 100 quest. Nergy, kush, and teo...

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
