So The Red Star finally saw release on one of its prospected platforms, and Penny Arcade should be excited.
The game is apparently very limited, and if it doesn't see a reprint sometime soon, you can expect that $20 price tag to skyrocket. It's back ordered at Ebgames.com, amazon is out, but you can still get super awesome signed copies from
The Red Star Store, and of course this is a much better way to actually reward the creators. Each copy is signed by Christian Gossett, the creator of the comic, and it's still only twenty bucks! Hurry, these will be gone in extremely short order, I promise!
Here's the youtube video linked from the store.
I've heard the game described as a sort of isometric Contra, which gets me all hot and bothered to say the least, but I just got a hold of some of the comics (such a god dammed shame it wasn't a huge success, it is a breathtaking work), and I'd rather finish reading the series before I start my copy.

Nope, nearly unemployed college student, but I'm falling in love with the IP and think it's a real shame its so poorly known.
Ok. But Tekken 3 is ten years old and Tekken Force was only a minigame in Tekken 3. A ten year old game. And it was a pretty dismal minigame too.
It's a beat-em-up? And a shoot-em-up? I can do everything to 'em except catch 'em all?
And the setting is Soviet Russia + futuristic technology + magic?
I am so fucking sold on this game. I hope I can find a copy.
its an old-school style game that blends beat-em-up and shmups. if you dont like either genre, then it simply isnt for you. some of us, myself included, love both genres and will gladly pay $20 for a GOOD iteration of either genre.

Dude. I bet the last level is versus the priests of Syrinx.
Glad you picked it up off the store...I'm worried much of the remaining stock will go to dealers...hopefully we'll see a reprint soon.

Preach on brother man.
i was so excited for this game back when it was originally supposed to come out. i might have to dig out some stuff to trade in and grab a copy.
you traitor
People spend money on porn?
Anyway yeah, planning to pick this up. 20 bucks, and the concept appeals to me greatly.
Kyuzo is a badass and so is his dual blade . Stab and smash for the win.
Well, sort of the point, isn't it?
And to those planning on picking it up at some point: I can't emphasize this enough, unless this game gets a second print, you're likely screwed. Some ebstops got one in, but only like 15-20% within 50 miles of me, and most of those are gone, no more on the way. Would hate to see gamers not get this at $20. The only copy on amazon is already at 40, and I expect it'll be at least that in a couple of days.
$9 shipping? And I thought ebayers were bad about gouging. . .
The comic is fuckallawesome.
And it's not really Russia, but some alternative equivalent with an alternative Afghanistan etc to war on.
Makita.
Run Makita run
that is prettiful
That's exactly what I was thinking. Damn rookies need to learn how to GIS.
