I don't know if I can wait till October though...
Lord bless us all if that's true. The Pixel is so good and I'm willing to put up with a lot of shit for it's camera, but so many other issues.
I am in the business of saving lives.

Pixel 6 officially announced, though there's not a whole lot of info.
that camera bump. I think the right angles are the primary source of this aversion; if it was a smooth curve up to it and then a smooth curve back down, I'd probably be only mildly annoyed.

I'm undecided on the bump, but it's going in a case anyway so it doesn't matter much to me.
The bump reminds me a lot of the Nexus 6P, which had a similar camera visor, just at the very top. Honestly, I think it's actually better than camera bumps in the corner because if you don't use a case, it'll at least lay flat without wobbling like every modern smartphone does now.
And if you use a case, it'll either still not wobble because of the camera bump, or the case will flatten it out anyway.
The one thing I don't like is the smaller Pixel 6 only had 2 camera's along that entire thing, it's lacking the telephoto that the Pixel 6 Pro has.

Looks like it's protruding by about 0.5cm. I'd definitely want to use it with a case, if I was going to be carrying it around in my pocket, without it getting caught on my pocket lip all of the time.
Google have been quoted regarding the 6 its a premium smartphone. So people are to expect closer to the $1000 than the $699 the 5 was. I suspect it'll go in Lin e with other top tier smartphones, 799 and a 999 pricing.

If you want a 5, then I would definitely order extremely quick after the reveal of the 6. If the pricing is true, then there will be a few people with the same idea and Google confirmed last year that the 5 wasn't getting a large production run. To date I know Google only produced 3 million units of the 5, 4A and 4A 5G units for financial year 2020 (so runs up to April 2021). Rumoured sales of the 5 are at around 1-1.5 million units, which in smartphone terms is bad, but because Google anticipated low sales means it's not overall bad situation for Google.

I think I'm setting my limit at $750. No phone is worth $800+ to me
I've been fighting with Google Photos for the past 3-4 months. I have some short vids and pictures from Jan-Mar (17 total) that for whatever reason will not back up. At this point, the pics and vids don't display anything in the backup queue so I just see black squares and can't remember what they were. I'd like to just tell the Photos app to ignore these but I can't seem to find the right settings to do that. My GoogleFu isn't helping much either.
Thoughts? Do I need to purge my Photos folder or is there perhaps a subfolder I should dig into?

The port on my Pixel 3 is failing and Samsung is selling the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G for $399 and I they will ship an unlocked 256GB model for $450 if I trade in my Pixel. This seems like a pretty good deal?
Anyone ever activate an unlocked phone with Verizon? Is it too much trouble?
Pretty sure it's the port. This phone needs to be replaced, I just need to make a decision
I ended up splitting a toothpick with my pocket knife and used that to clean so much crud out of my pixel 3 and now my charge cables snugly click into place like it was brand new. Previously, I was having to rely on slow wireless charging or finagling the charger just right to get a connection. That being said, I noticed on vacation that my screen has a tiny crack almost dead center (just a couple mm) that I'm guessing was from my kid banging something on it. Going to try to baby it until the Pixel 6 comes out and I can get the newest shiny.
So Samsung are announcing the latest in the foldable range tomorrow. However, true to form for Samsung, leaks are a plenty including official promotional videos of the phones in action. Besides the usual improvements to speed, battery and cameras here are a few takes.
The Good:
Both devices have some form of IP65 rating.
The Z Flip 3 will have a proper front screen like the Razr for notifications.
The Z Fold 3 will have S pen support.
Both devices are supposed to be competitively priced compared to earlier models (I'm calling BS on it as the market shows people are willing to pay the premium prices in fact a couple of retailers are having the Fold 3 priced higher than the Fold 2 was at launch).
The Bad:
The Z flip has decided to remain using a dual camera setup and has replaced its clean look of the original with its blended in front display thing with a huge 2 tone block that comes straight out of the Pixel 2. It's ugly to look at.
Both devices don't seem to be doing anything to improve software compatibility over the different aspect ratios. A lot of big named apps still don't scale correctly and these devices seem to be using the same screen sizes.

The charge cables fit fine and the phone does charge but the connection to my car's android auto isn't reliable. It has a crack in the bottom by the port so I think that's the root cause. It also gets really bad reception anymore even with Wi-Fi calling on.
The Samsung looks like as good of a deal I am getting to get a the price I am looking for. But I have never bought an unlocked phone before and don't know how Verizon treats that.

$11.33!!
Time to go buy that GeForce 3090 (sticker) that I've been waiting for.
I don't think i got anything initally but could be wrong. Probably didn't have the proof needed.
Basically this is a way for Google to save a bunch of money on bandwidth costs, but will make side-loading more complex.

Not available on the Pro. Boo.
It reminds me of Geordis visor for some reason.
Not a huge fan of the ridge, but it'll probably level out in a case.
I'm not quite ready to ditch my 3XL, but this is certainly interesting.

In other words, the cases all have a bump instead of a thick back with a notch.
I can't stop laughing

As long as the model supports Verizon antennas, it should be fine.
God damn it
