Rather than sending people home, I've been merging junk units into 4*+10s to get units with virtually a 5*+5 score on a budget while all of my feathers go towards upgrading my core units. I might be stuck using Alfonse though. I actually like using him combat wise now... I just wish that his Folkvagner refine came with + arena score as an effect.
Remember that you get bonus points in the new system for scoring kills with your bonus units.

Yeah, I hate to do that personally tho :P I'd rather work towards 5*+10 and eventually I should have a lot of avenues covered for bonus heroes in future arena seasons (because they always seem to include a couple from the 3*/4* pool). Also like I said, in Frederick's case because he comes with an armor-slaying weapon in his base kit, he'll be pretty evergreen useful for me. He should also be able to score some good kills in this new system.
Getting tempted to dump M. Robin from my team though, as sad as that makes me. He's dragging my score down and he's so overloaded with score boosters at this point he literally does nothing except for buff F. Grima by standing next to her Every once in a blue moon he can kill a red for me.
Well our priorities are different. Your core units are already built up and you're shooting for the highest possible score for bragging rights and prestige. I'm trying to boost my feather income so that I can finish maxing out my cores. The expense of merging up someone like Frederick would be a net loss in feathers since it will take dozens of arena seasons where he is a bonus unit before I'd see a return on investment for getting him to 5*+10.
Edit :
Really promoting the Askr trio was a waste too from that perspective, but I wanted to 5* them anyways to give them their prf weapons and see their confessions. The expense of a baseline 5* is small compared to a 5*+10 anyway.

True! Having 5*'d everyone in the game frees up my feathers for merge projects like this
But also like I said, he's going to do lots of work for me in Arena Assault so even if he isn't a bonus unit for quite awhile again, he'll be useful for the foreseeable future. But that's mainly why I've been focusing on the better heroes to merge up first - stuff I would like at +10 regardless of bonus status :P
Edit: I think it's worth since they are used as quest objectives often. I just gave Alfonse his refine and will probably get the other two done at some point too. Also realized with the refine and Axebreaker he can actually be a useful Arena Assault unit for me, so double yay.
I'm contemplating running triangle adept Folkvagner with sword breaker, but I know from experience that he's pretty formidable when he runs vantage alongside deflect melee seal. It's fun watching him shrug off Regnal Astra like it's nothing.
Now if only RNG will give me an Ares so that I can give Alfonse brazen attack def. It's not worth giving up my winter chrom for that.

Aw, I hate to see anybody foddering off Ares.
He's another unit that's high on my list of "considered good, but not nearly as good as they should be considered because this unit is uniquely broken." DC Vantage Ares firing off Drac Auras to start every defense is pure fucking terror.
True, but he's also a 4* source of brazen ATK/DEF. With my luck it will take me six months to find him just like it took me six months to find The Reinhardt.
Since the next TT+ is going to have 6 reward units, I assume we won't be getting any new seals?
Good news for whoever it is that wants Tobin, though.
I dunno, though I can't imagine them not doing any seals... In any case, Tobin comes with Armorslayer+, and therefore is good
Edit 2: Hmmm... Heroes with Draconic Aura eh? That's... kind of a good pool: Alm, Brave Lyn, Dorcas, Kana (F), and Karla. All of those have some pretty great *actual* fodder and are pretty good heroes in their own right. That's gonna be a stacked banner no matter who they choose...
Edit 3: "Heroes with Healing Skills" - like, healers? Haha... (I assume this actually means Ardent Sacrifice/Reciprocal Aid tho...)
Spent the 15 orbs for the full session. Got the last ATiki I needed for her to be +10 and got FMorgan! I have her already and this time she had unfavorable IV (-atk,+def).
I’ll fodder her off at some point.

Managed to get everyone in an ok number of orbs this time. Pretty happy with that. Of course the one I wanted most, Michaiah, took forever to show up :P
I got a goddamn Luke in my 35 orbs thrown at the dancer banner. That's enough, gonna wait til the 21st to see what's up.

Go to pull on the other Death Blow banner ... 5* Effie ... and whats this +hp/-spd ... not bad

Well, Tobin and 20k feathers and he comes with Armorslayer+.
There's usually 6 reward slots on these, but they're offering 6 units, which is why I wonder if they're not ditching seals/blessings and filling those slots with back units.

Maybe they will have rerun on some seals or ex versions
Illursory dungeon hard mode x3 speed is pretty entertaining. The bosses are still normal speed. It's funny watching them charge up their "I'm going to charge at you at hyper speed" attack and still be slower than the random mooks charging in from off screen.
I didn't notice until the banner dropped, but they introduced blue and green ninja with the dancer banner. Also Micaiah is a red mage instead of rounding out the group with a red ninja for some reason

I'm guessing IS thought that Micaiah was the most popular unit on the banner, and her fans would be more willing to pull for a mage than a lowly dagger unit. ...They're probably not wrong, the tome options seem way better. My Gronnraven Inigo sees way more use than Dagger Olivia.
I do think it's interesting that red is also the only missing color for bows, as well.
Maybe because there have always been more good red units than anything else, and this is an attempt to round it out?

To be fair, the number of red dancers is pretty low. So they might have wanted her to not suck :P Also honestly with her weapon, magic >>>>>> physical.
Maybe because there have always been more good red units than anything else, and this is an attempt to round it out?
This statement got me thinking. Are there more good red units than anything else, or is it because there are just a TON of red units? I wonder which color proportionally has more good units. Green jumps to mind as having a lot of good stuff. Fae, myrh, M!Grima, and the Hectors immediately spring to mind as powerhouses that demand respect.

I was going to link https://feheroes.gamepedia.com/Arena_tier_list and count the number of units at each tier, but it seems to be really heavily biased towards armour units because it's an arena tier list, and armour gets more points. I think it still roughly illustrates that there is an even distribution of utterly broken units, but red has the most 'pretty dang good' units.
It's nice that they added different saved loadouts for units, but what they SHOULD have done was tie skill loadouts to the teams instead of to units. I'm tired of discovering that certain units are lacking seals in arena assault because I moved the seal to someone else so that I could clear a GHB or something.
I like the changes to Rival Domains. I just went to make a new brigade, sort all heroes by HM, and put the lowest HM heroes in a brigade. Autobattle the level 35 one so they get SP too, and 8 units get 3.1SP each battle. Don't think I need to worry about that whole autobattling GHBs thing anymore.

They implemented it where it's per unit but you can also change all units on a team at the same time (hit "select by team" right above the Next button). If you have two units on a team using the same seal in the same skill set slot and then choose that for the team/brigade, it will remove that seal from whoever currently has it and then give it to whichever unit that uses it that is first in line within the team/brigade (the others that use it will get nothing).

Hey guys quick question. What's the meta on units with all neutral IVs? I have a couple and was wondering if I should bother to build them. For instance I have a Neutral Cordelia should I wait or just go ahead.
Hey guys quick question. What's the meta on units with all neutral IVs? I have a couple and was wondering if I should bother to build them. For instance I have a Neutral Cordelia should I wait or just go ahead.
Go ahead and build them. Most units are fine unless they faceplant with their worst possible IVs. Even then, they'll work in advantageous matchups and you can fix it later in the event that you find a better one.
For example, let's say that you build your Cordelia up and two weeks from now you find a +ATK Cordelia that you want to use instead. You can merge your existing Cordelia into the new one to get a Cordelia+1, which will have all of the same abilities as the old one but with the IVs of the new one and slightly boosted stats from the merge.
Things to keep in mind:
*If your neutral Cordelia is 5*, you should promote the new Cordelia to 5* as well, otherwise you'll get a 4*+1. I'm a proponent of 4*+10 units, but I'm going to assume that you want the 5* one.
*SP isn't transfered, so use it before you lose it if you want to.
*you'll still need to level the new Cordelia to 40.
Neutrals are generally not desired since most units have a stat they can safely dump to boost a key stat, but unlike a -ATK or -SPD striker (like Cordelia), it's not like they're bad. Like Armchair says, you can just merge the neutral into a better IV down the line, and Cordelia is a great candidate for pursuing 5*+10.
Speaking of which, I couldn't resist a couple tries at Elincia for merges on the daily banner. Pulled a Cordelia on no red orbs, putting her up to +9 (so...close...) with a +1 atk/spd merge. Also got an Elincia in less than 30 orbs, putting her at +2. Resisted the strong temptation to chase more and counted my good fortune. You can't break me before CYL2, IS!
It's also debatable what ideal IVs are for some units. My favored example is Sanaki. Her baseline speed isn't so great and one way to build her is to ignore her speed stat and go all in on attack with a +ATK/-SPD IV. However she has a speed super boon, and that's a pretty critical stat to have a superboon in. My +1 +SPD sanaki, with full speed investment, can clock in at 40 speed. While not record breaking by any stretch of the imagination, it's enough to run a Desperation build and double most things that I see in the arena.
Welp. I was feeling the itch to roll and figured that I need red unit fodder and a 3 unit banner with Elincia on it is actually pretty darn good in the grand scheme of things. I was hoping to find a copy of Ares so that Alfonse could get brazen ATK/DEF, but nope. So many Sophias though. SO MANY. I did find another copy of Lon'Qu, so that's vantage for somebody. Also I found two chroms, so I guess two of my dragons can FINALLY get Aether.
Also I found a Luke. I guess somebody can get fire boost now?
