I think I need to cancel my plans to move back to the UK. I knew it was a shitshow over there but this is getting ridiculous.

Do not, my friends, become addicted to hot cross buns. For it will take hold of you, and you will resent it's absence.

The hallmark of every good dystopia is a sharp divide between the have and the have nots. That is the couch of the haves.

I mean, Star Trek is socialist post-scarcity so it's just everyone's a haves. Lacking a comparison to a have-nots, I guess it comes down to an optimist/pessmist outlook.

I take a slug of bourbon, double hit of over the counter sleeping pills, and listen to David Attenborough while I try to sleep.

I don't recommend the first two - but I am in full throated support of the last.

Date was a bit of a wash

Not bad! Just awkward. No conversation comparability. She went after a couple of hours, and I was relieved.

I do, however, have a Terry's Chocolate Orange to eat and I'm cosy on my sofa with no work tomorrow so, not complaining

I sent my advisor an email asking for advice regarding my math and stats course. I didn't really apply myself in my college studies back in the day, so I must get at least a 3.0 GPA every semester to stay in this MBA program.

I'm afraid that will be very difficult or impossible with a 10 week program and getting a shit stain the second week

There is a lot of difference doing uni when you are an adult, because you now have a work ethic.

My results were night and day when I went back because I didn’t treat it as one long drinking adventure.

I still don't know how to do math though

There were all these problems that involved looking at stuff and going oh, that needs to be a quadratic equation to solve it

And I couldn't even remember what that was, much less what a, b and c are

I don't know if I ever had that in high school

I mean, I passed algebra 2 the second time, so probably? But I don't remember it at all

Well I can tell you you're not alone in that. I went into a master's program a couple years ago after having been out of school for a decade, and since it was mainly business and design I did okay. But if there had been anything even remotely math related, my ass would have been dead in the water two days in.

That being said, since you're doing this from home I'm sure there are plenty of online resources you can use to get back up to speed on that stuff - it'll take a while for sure, but at least you can work at your own pace and do it all in pajamas.

It's possible your institution will have a maths help centre - a lot of them do. Otherwise, hit Khan academy. Go back to the last thing you actually remember solidly (not vaguely, but "oh yes this is instantly familiar") and work forward. Maths is a building block subject, so you skip one block and you'll be shaky on everything above it.

The good news is that as an adult, you should be able to absolutely race through most of the foundational stuff.

I appreciate the advice and opinions. I emailed my academic advisor and the instructor. I have to get a 3.0 in this class to remain in the MBA program

I spent probably 12 hours on week two and got an F

I don't know if I have enough time to dedicate much more to this

Or if it's a wise decision to do all that and still be blocked if I don't get that 3.0

I'm sort of wondering if I should withdraw and take some math and business courses and return to the MBA program after that

Yesterday my roommate and I got up early and went to the Cannery, a huge furniture store run locally, to purchase a new couch.

The store was expansive and the only music they played was disco, and we definitely haggled with one of the floor guys to get us a longer extension on our financing.

And now we own this technological monstrosity.

Down south here on the continent it's been really nice and sunny for the last week, which is a nice change after the rest of the winter ebing all rainy and grey.

Downside is the temperatur dropped a good 10-15° and it's currently -7°C. So for the last two days I've been cycling with a gear beacuse the gearshift's frozen.

Of course the day I’m flying to Brazil is worst snow day in Sweden this winter. Flight delayed, missed transfer in Paris, now hanging out in ice cold hotel room at CDG til my new flight leaves 24 hr after the original. Snow sucks.
